God Condones Violence?” Scripture: Exodus 15:3 “The Lord is a warrior.”(NIV) Numbers 21:2-3 “Then Israel made a vow to the Lord and said, “If you will indeed give this people into our hands, then we will utterly destroy their towns.”The Lord listened to the voice of Israel, and handed over the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their towns…”(NRSV) Matthew 5:29-30 “If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away… And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away…” (NRSV) Isaiah 2:4 “He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
