4th Sunday in Lent: Purple “Psalm XX”

Benedetto Marcello

PRAYER OF CONFESSION and RESPONSE Merciful God, as we begin our journey to the cross and the empty tomb, we ask for honesty of spirit before you. You have created us, O God; we are the work of your hands, and nothing about us is hidden from you. Yet we seek all the same to hide our mistakes and our shame—not just from you and from others, but even from ourselves. We are afraid to admit fault or failure, as if our worth hung in the balance. We invite you today to examine our hearts, and to know our thoughts. Reveal to us any false way that we are following, that we might walk instead in the way of life eternal… (Silent prayer) Leader: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! People: In the name of Jesus Christ, we ARE forgiven!

* PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM (9:15) PASTOR: Members of the household of God, we rejoice to recognize this child as part of God’s family. Will you do all in your power to nurture and protect his faith? CONGREGATION: We promise to uphold and care for this child and his family by our love, support and prayers. We will do all we can, by personal example and the ministries we provide, to help him grow with us in the way of Christ. Amen.
