We continue our focus on the theme of “Letting Go” through November 13, with Rev. Fuquay’s sermon series (11/6: “LETTING GO AND GAINING PEACE” and 11/13: “LETTING GO AND GAINING SATISFACTION”), the consecration of our gifts on Sunday, November 13, and a Gratitude Brunch on Thanksgiving Sunday, November 20. It’s not too late to start keeping your Letting Go Journal—download one at www.stlukesumc.com/getinvolved/giving/annualfund. You may also make your pledge online in a variety of ways via the same web page.
NOVEMBER 2011
MONTHLY
COMMUNION UMW Collecting Donations for Fletcher Place Christmas
Thanksgiving Service Project St. Luke’s Singles Ministry will again be volunteering alongside others from the St. Luke’s community to feed the homeless of downtown Indianapolis. Chef David Mitchell will be cooking up some wonderful food for them, but we need your help to make sure that all who walk through the door can be fed, and all the shut-ins who need a meal can be fed as well. You can help this year by stopping by one of tables in the East and West Passage each Sunday in November and sign up to volunteer to help cook and carve turkeys, deliver food the night before Thanksgiving to the shelter, work at the shelter on Thanksgiving day, or deliver meals to shut-ins. OR, you can make a financial contribution that will go toward the purchase of food as well. You can also donate food items. For more information or if you have a question, please email Chris Thornsberry at thornsberryc@stlukesumc.com. Thank you in advance for your kind gifts of volunteering, prayer and contribution.
St. Luke’s United Methodist Women are collecting donations for the Fletcher Place Christmas Shopping Program now through Monday, November 28. This program serves nearly 125 families and 400 children. All donations must be NEW AND UNWRAPPED. Clothing and gifts for children of all ages are needed, but the area of most need is teen boys. Parent gifts are also needed, including blankets and items for the kitchen and bath. Need more ideas? Pick up a shopping list at the Information Desk or online. Donations can be placed in the wooden collection bins in the West Passage. Eve Circle will be delivering the items on Tuesday, November 29. If you wish to make a cash donation, please make your check payable to St. Luke’s UMC with Fletcher Place Christmas on the memo line. For information, please contact Beth Edwards-Goff at 625-2395 or beth.edwardsgoff@yahoo.com.
