Farewell to Marsha Hutchinson
After over ten years of loving pastoral care, Rev. Marsha Hutchinson is retiring from St. Luke’s. Her career has centered around providing grief support, visiting hospital patients, and officiating funerals. She has also taught numerous classes, conducted special services, and preached on Sunday morning. This morning we honor her ministry during the worship services. You’re invited to join the celebration at a reception outside the sanctuary in the narthex between services.
Multifaith Celebration of Oneness: Nurturing Peace
Nurture peace by experiencing 10 different faith traditions including St. Luke’s Children’s Ministry and The Garden. Events will be in N101/102, N103/104 and Great Hall. Come for an hour or the entire afternoon. Closing event – Dances of Universal Peace – followed by ethnic foods reception. Muslims for Life Blood Drive honoring the memory of lives lost on 9/11/01 from 2-6pm outside door #7. Details at table in West Passage.
Raising a Modern Day Knight
Join with other dads for a 6 week adventure exploring how to connect more deeply with our sons and teach them what it means to be a man. This group will meet on Sunday evenings from 7-8:30PM beginning September 29th. To learn more, email Chris Garrity at xfizz@att.net.
NEWS YOU CAN USE UMW Food Drive
The St. Luke’s UMW semi-annual food drive kicks off today and runs through the month of October. Food Pantries benefitting from our drive include First Baptist Food Pantry, Fletcher Place Community Center, Brightwood Community Center, and Vida Nuevea Hispanic Ministries. In today’s worship guide is a list of the most sought-after items. Domestic Violence workshop
Recently Indianapolis lost a police officer answering a domestic violence call. St. Luke's is hosting a 3 day conference to be held October 2-4 in the Fellowship Hall on how to identify and prevent domestic violence. For more information, contact Mary Katherine Schnitz at schnitzm@stlukesumc.com
Fish for Hope
The United Methodist Men invite you to SAVE THE DATE to attend their fifth annual Fish Fry on Thursday, October 10. The proceeds from this delicious event go to help provide hope in Fondwa, Haiti. Dinner tickets will be available on Sunday mornings and online at stlukesumc.com

Colorado Natural Disaster
After days of perpetual rain and flooding, thousands of Colorado residents are beginning to clean up and put their lives in order. Please consider donating to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) 100% of your donations will go to aid survivors and clean up efforts in the area. Pumpkins
Pumpkins arrive October 2nd! Stop by the southwest corner of the parking lot along 86th street and let our youth help you pick the perfect pumpkin. Youth will be on site every week day afternoon and all day Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the month. James: Putting Faith to Work
E213; 5 Tuesdays: October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. This five-session study of James focuses on how Christians are called to live out their faith commitment. Explore how faith grows out of trials endured and temptations overcome; how to act with gentle, peaceable and caring wisdom, and ways to deepen our capacity and strengthen our resolve to do right. The study book is available in the Oasis Gift and Bookstore.
Knowing God
