TODAY’S SPECIAL EVENTS

MARCH 10, 2013

The following is a list of events occuring today at St. Luke’s. For other events and upcoming information, pick up a COMMUNION MONTHLY, available at the end of the pews and at the Information Desk in the Narthex.

Outreach of the Month Each month, St. Luke’s will promote and support a different local or global partnership, giving you the opportunity to share your time, talents and/or treasure. Our March Outreach of the Month is Habitat for Humanity of Hamilton County. St. Luke’s has made a commitment to take on the expense of a home for the Davis family. Each Sunday this month you will have a chance to leave your mark on their home. We will have the OSB boards in the West Passage that will be used to build their home -- our goal is to get 7000 handprints. You may also make a donation and place it in the offering basket (payable to St. Luke’s with “Habitat” on the memo line) or donate at www.stlukesumc.com. Construction begins in August. For more info, contact Todd Hockemeyer at tmhockemeyer@gmail.com.

Rosebud, SD Work Trip Meeting Families are invited to work and live on the reservation with the Lakota Indians during our work trip to Rosebud, June 23-29. Only eight spots are left on this trip where you will experience native traditions as well as participate in two projects. Cost is $350 plus transportation, and the trip is appropriate for children age seven and up. Find out more today at our information meeting at 10:45AM in C122, or contact Kathie Clemenz at kkclemenz@sbcglobal.net.

teens are prepared with services for you to hire, like spring cleaning, yard work, babysitting, dog sitting or help with technology. Help our teens working for their scholarship accounts so they can go on mission trips this summer to Michigan, Wisconsin, Peru and here in Indy.

Worship Leading Opportunities Are you comfortable speaking and reading in front of an audience? Ever felt that you would like to participate more fully in worship, perhaps reading the invocation or scripture? Now’s your chance. We are in need of people to sign up as invocators and scripture readers. We are specifically in need of invocators for the 8:15 worship services on March 17 & 24, so if you have the gift of bounding out of bed early in the morning rarin’ to go, please share that gift with us! You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” SCRIPTURE RESPONSE READER: The word of God for the people of God. CONGREGATION: Thanks be to God. MESSAGE
