TODAY’S SPECIAL EVENTS

MARCH 17, 2013

The following is a list of events occuring today at St. Luke’s. For other events and upcoming information, pick up a COMMUNION MONTHLY, available at the end of the pews and at the Information Desk in the Narthex.

Silent Auction/Hire a Teen Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at our Youth Silent Auction and Hire a Teen event today, 9AM-1PM in the Great Hall. This is our largest event yet with over 150 items, including a week at a condo in Florida, a 2010 autographed Butler basketball, Legend’s Pacers tickets, Justin Bieber tickets, a round of golf for four with Pastor Rob, themed gift baskets and more! Over 20 teens are prepared with services for you to hire, like spring cleaning, yard work, babysitting, dog sitting or help with technology. Help our teens working for their scholarship accounts so they can go on mission trips this summer to Michigan, Wisconsin, Peru and here in Indy.

NEWS YOU CAN USE Easter Lilies Order forms are available in the church office and the Welcome Center, as well as www.stlukesumc.com. Flowers decorate the Sanctuary and can be designated in memory or honor of family and friends. Plant pick up follows the 11:15AM Easter service. To be included in the list, which will be available online as well as at the Welcome Center on Easter Sunday, orders must be received by Noon on Monday, March 25. A $10 donation per plant is appreciated.

Outreach of the Month

Spiritual Types Inventory

Our March Outreach of the Month is Habitat for Humanity of Hamilton County. St. Luke’s has made a commitment to take on the expense of a home for the Davis family. Each Sunday this month you have a chance to leave your mark on their home. We have the OSB boards in the West Passage that will be used to build their home -- our goal is to get 7000 handprints. You may also make a donation and place it in the offering basket (payable to St. Luke’s with “Habitat” on the memo line) or donate at www.stlukesumc.com. Construction begins in August. For more info, contact Todd Hockemeyer at tmhockemeyer@gmail.com.

Ever wondered why some forms of worship have more appeal than others for you? Maybe taking the Spiritual Types Inventory would shed some light. Monday, March 18, 78PM, Modular Building or Tuesday, March 19, Noon-1PM in E105.

Easter Egg Hunt Tickets Available Our Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, March 30 at 9:30AM. Enjoy a morning of games, egg hunting and the Easter Bunny. Tickets are $3/child and may be purchased this morning in the East Passage.

Half the Sky Dinner Reservations Beginning today, you can make a dinner reservation for any of the upcoming Half the Sky events at the UMW table in the West Passage. The first event takes place Wednesday, April 17 at 6PM -- see the March Communion Monthly or church website for details. Dinner is $10/event, and online registration is also available. You do not need a reservation for the program portion of the series, only for dinner.

March Art Galleries If you love horses, you will love Martha Vaught’s woodcuts, linocuts, paintings and drawings. She shares the gallery space with JanettMarie whose focus is coffee cups. Lots of color and depth. Pick up a cup of coffee and climb the stairs to the “Vision” and “Identity” Galleries above the Narthex.

Taizé Service This Evening If you’ve never experienced a Taizé service, Lent is the perfect time to try out this spiritual practice. Enjoy a quiet, candlelit, meditative service of prayer, music and inspiration. Tonight and the third Sunday of every month at 5PM in the Sanctuary.

Lenten Labyrinth Workshop Lent is a time to let go of our burdens, journey prayerfully into silence and dedicate our lives to sharing God’s gifts. This workshop provides the structure to make that journey. Friday, March 22, 1-3PM in Fellowship Hall. Register by contacting Betty at brandtb@stlukesumc.com or 846-3404.

Holy Week Breakfast Devotions Makes plans now to start your day with breakfast and a brief devotion March 25-29, 7:30-8:15AM in Fellowship Hall. Join Dr. Kent Millard (Monday), Rev. Suggested donation of $5/morning. Make reservations at www.stlukesumc.com or by calling the church office, 846-3404.

Tuesday, March 26, 6PM in Fellowship Hall. No charge; a freewill offering will be gratefully received. Register at www.stlukesumc.com.
