Food Technology _______________________________Page

Food Technology follows the seasons of the year… through the use of fresh ingredients, four periods and changing trends! Food Technology at St Joseph’s was very much “inseason” during 2014 with greater numbers of students than ever embracing food classes, at our main campus as well as our new Westcourt Campus, for the first time ever.

Each semester experienced changing conditions, with Year 7 students warming to Food Technology while VCE students impressed as seasoned performers. The area hosted seasonal programs, such as Ad Alta, Year 11 VCAL and September school holiday workshops. A big thank you to the Year 8 food students who participated in school functions, assisting staff with morning teas, such as the Student Leaders Investiture and VCE Awards Ceremonies in 2014.

Food Technology student Vincent Ballesteros (Year 11) was recognised for his special food folio, which was shortlisted in this year’s Season of Excellence, Top Designs Exhibition. The competition season encouraged students to enter the Inter-house Cooking Competition, open to years 8, 9 and 10 students, in order to compete for house points in this annual event.

All competitors performed brilliantly on the day. A big thank you to our judges Vince Ballesteros (Year 12) and Ms Claire Brown for their expertise and as they say “the judges decision is final” so here are the results:
