Product Design & Technology _____________________Page

2014 has been another excellent year with students producing works which have challenged them and supported their needs to design and create. The Year 12 pupils have produced fascinating pieces that have utilised a variety of materials to personalise their design concepts. In the other year levels students have produced absorbing and engrossing works that provided remarkable experiential learning. The Production Design & Technology department have been extremely busy with the implementation of the schools new Trade Training Centre (T.T.C.) and Westcourt (Year 9 facility). The T.T.C has been enthusiastically taken up by the pupils and it has been fantastic for the staff to see the students extremely keen to engage in the space. Next year will see the facility utilised even more with two Building construction classes, two Furnishing /Cabinet making classes, VCE, Year 10 and Year 8. The Trade Training Centre resource is undoubtedly proving itself to be a fantastic addition to the St Joseph’s school community. The Westcourt facility has been well used by the students this year and again proves that this type of subject is of great interest to the pupils with a designing and manufacturing mind-set. There are still some teething issues with this facility that we hope to resolve in the course of 2015. 2015 is shaping up to be another challenging and stimulating year. It is incredible to work with good people who are striving to create an exceptional environment for the pupils. I thank everyone in the Production Design & Technology department for their hard work in 2014.
