Principal’s Report Dear Parents, Students and Friends of the College, I hope you have enjoyed the Melbourne Cup weekend and that some of you have had the opportunity to take a break. The Year 12 students are well into their exams which they sit here at school. In most subjects about 50% to 65% of scores are still determined as a consequence of the final examination. For that reason alone, it is important that boys learn the skills associated with examinations. At each year level final examinations will be conducted. The discipline associated with an examination room and the associated study skills necessary to revise a large quantity of content, are both important and necessary skills for academic success. We try and get boys used to the experience and teach them the skills, so that they manage the process in their final year. Work completed throughout the year is important but so is the final examination period, which we are approaching at the end of the school year. I am pleased to announce that the Victorian Government have confirmed that another ten Year 9 St Joseph’s students will be a part of the Young Leaders to China Program in 2015. This was an outstanding opportunity which 12 of our current Year 9s have experienced and current Year 8 students will also be able to apply to be part of next year’s program.
