onations to the School’s FY 2015 Annual Fund exceeded gifts made in all prior years: the School received total commitments of $1,378,558 by the June 30 end of the School’s fiscal year, with an additional $12,970 in pledges. Both of these amounts are School records.

Annual Fund donations and pledges were driven by 74% of the School’s parents, who collectively donated or

pledged $1,137,090. Other major giving groups were parents of graduates ($63,407) and alumni ($148,885).

Notable accomplishments within the Annual Fund drive were a concentrated outreach effort to parents in fall 2014, followed by an effort to alumni and others during winter and spring 2015. This seasonal focus helped reduce the number of hours donated by

parent and alumni volunteers.

Two giving challenges were held to stimulate gifts from alumni and the entire School community: the February 2015 “Show the Love” effort to solicit gifts in honor or memory of School faculty, and the “A-May-zing Challenge,” a matching gift effort in May 2015.

The success of our Annual Fund effort would not have been possible without the assistance of dozens of volunteers who provided their time and energy to build relationships with potential donors and to educate them about the many ways their gifts help the School.

OUR ANNUAL FUND

Helping Every Student

L

iterally every child at St. Anne’s-Belfield School benefits from our Annual Fund. The most important benefits of a strong Annual Fund are small class sizes and experienced, enthusiastic teachers who know and nurture each child.

Gifts to our Annual Fund keep tuition as low as possible while providing the best classroom experience possible for every student.

Innovative academic programs supported by our Annual Fund include Fab Fridays (now FAB Lab) in grades K-4 and STAB Lab in the Upper School. In addition, the Annual Fund helps provide funding for a wide variety of programs and activities outside the classroom. Students in all grades benefit from arts education

programs and community service projects, and grades seven through twelve have the option to participate in more than 45 competitive sports teams.

STAB Lab, a tenth grade project-based learning program option, binds portions of the grade ten humanities class with the hands-on study of chemistry. STAB Lab launched in fall 2015, thanks in part to support from the Annual Fund.

• The Malone Cup was established in 1998 as a tribute to the reunion class with the highest percentage of Annual Fund donors. The cup is named for beloved teacher Pamela Malone, who dedicated 34 years to enriching the lives of St. Anne’s-Belfield School students. This year’s winner is the Class of 1965.

• The Peter V. R. Weeks Award recognizes the highest giving participation from classes of the 1970s and 1980s. It is named in memory of senior master, Peter Weeks, who served as assistant headmaster, athletic director, coach, teacher, mentor, role model, and counselor (1961 to 1981). Congratulations to his year’s winner, the Class of 1974.

FY 2016 ANNUAL FUND

Our Annual Fund needs your help again this year!

With the start of a new school year, we renew our efforts to raise funds in support of the Annual Fund.

This year’s parent effort will run through November 20, the Friday before

Thanksgiving Break. If you are contacted by a parent as part of this effort, please take the time to speak with him or her to understand how your gift really does support the School!

New this year, donors will have the option of designating their gift to support one of the School’s five focus areas: Academics, Arts, Athletics, Financial

Aid, and Teaching Excellence. Any donation made to one of the focus areas will be go diretly to support that area. Of course, if you want to support more than one area of focus, you can designate your gift to the “Area of Greatest Need.”
