Depression, by Qiming Fu It isn’t like a truck It doesn’t hit you from the side like a careless driver It is a double bladed sword Polished cold metal you walk into without feeling

Shhh by Qiming Fu

Garden by Qiming Fu

It isn’t a wilted rose It isn’t the remnants of a beauty that was drained It is only the hilt where the crown is bare For when the petals fall, only the thorns remain It isn’t a fire It doesn’t reduce you to ashes so quick—not yet It is a knife chisel Cutting off edges of you promising a new figure but leaves you skinless Leaves you emotionless Leaves you with nothing at all Perhaps then, with the bark by your feet that was once the flaws and virtues you would borrow a spark and set it aflame. And the flame will cackle and sigh That “ it is what it is.”

Pine, by Izzy Sanok You see me but sight can’t hold The pain I face. Cracked perfection specked with desire is me; A stump of a thing, Wading, Waiting, Praying to the stars around me, For you to genuinely abide in the same plane as I. Adorned with brilliant blossoms of light, The entanglement of my desires is summed up by your embellishments. I know your life stories, told through inanimate substances hung on I, But don’t you think I am hung up on this life? I try and try and try to please my viewers But here I am… Deteriorating, Crunching, Withering away in front of your eyes. Soon to be dumped, a humble, stunted plant, awaiting caretakers who actually care.

Untitled Pieces by Qiming Fu He sits in a salt circle and saturates it with his red he cups the melting wax in his hands and timidly says ‘O spirit O soul O lost and holy one my dear may I please, tenderly, be reimbursed in what makes one dead’ — They have mirrors and candles and crystals and jars They have kings and jokers and coins on their cards They have eyes and ears and bodies and hearts They have it all in pieces in a collection of shards — Oh ocean, wash me over with your water parch me with your arduous salts leave me tangled in the webs my people left in you leave me hooked in the knives my people tossed too Oh ocean, cleanse me with your weary cries drown me with the sorrowful terror grant me eternity with your mournful sirens grant me serenity with the underside of heaven
