USEF/USEA “AIKEN OPENER” HORSE TRIALS
January 18 & 19, 2025

welcome
As we start the New Year, apart from welcoming you to the first Horse Trial, I thought a general update was in order.
As we continue to develop Stable View, there are a number of initiatives that are falling into place…..our intention is to create an environment that is not just catering for equestrians but is considered a “Lifestyle” facility.
If you mix Stable View’s Accommodations with the Bistro, add Trail Runs, Dog Shows, Auctions and Rider Lounges you are creating an unusual mix. If you also add to that mix, Eventing, Driving, Dressage and HJ’s you are creating a diversified facility that’s potentially sustainable.
Recently superimposed on that mix is the Healing Arts Center a customized facility that can promote and potentially offer around 20 modalities.
Just the Healing Arts Center itself could become a sustainable business, but add Retreats, Rider Lounges, Trails, Accommodations, Walks and The Bistro, and you have the potential for a business within a business.
Over the years, Stable View has gone where our clients and their advice have taken it.
There was no detailed business plan or big picture view….we just listened, researched designed and built. Whilst it could be said that Stable View is fully developed, we’ll have to see. There’s plenty of opportunity to add mid-week events and we’d increasingly like to diversify away from being considered an Equestrian facility. Another area of growth is to run two events on the same day - we’ve recently done this - it wasn’t stressful.
Over the next few years Stable View’s intention is to host larger events. These might be regional or national.
The bottom line is the bottom line - more entries lead to more income. More income leads to a sustainable business.
Regards, Barry

FREE TO BEE
Having started in early spring with five nucleus colonies (also known as "nucs") from a local bee supplier, Stable View's bees have grown to eleven, almost twelve, hives with healthy queens Over the summer, we have supported the bees' efforts to build up and prepare for winter. Our goal is to contribute to healthy pollinators in our area, and share the sweet fruits of their labor!

A BIRDER'S PARADISE
This time last year, Stable View had one resident Red-Cockaded Woodpecker Today, we have sixteen! Additionally, by increasing our number of nest boxes we have helped many of our feathered friends thrive: this year, we have fledged 550+ Eastern Bluebirds; a pair of Eastern Screech Owls fledged two young; and the American Kestrels fledged all five nestlings from the same nest box as in previous years.

HISTORICALLY, "A GATHERING PLACE"
Set out afoot–or ahoof–on our 15 miles of marked trails, each named in honor of local Native American tribes, where you may see evidence of our prescribed fires, which increase plant diversity, perpetuate endangered species, allow wildlife easier access to food sources, restore nutrients back into the soil, and reduce the risk of wildfires
According to our expert, Mark Pavlosky of MPJ Wildlife, we expect to observe many migrant species working their way South early this fall.

We look forward to hosting bird watchers who wish to view native, rare, or endangered species on their lists!
