EVENTING ACADEMY Schooling Horse Trials
July 8, 9 & 10, 2022
welcome
Dear friends,
Welcome to another Eventing Academy. While we are still recovering from the Area 3 Championships, and with a H/J Show in between, Mogie Bearden-Muller has put together another one-of-a-kind Cross Country Course for your training. As we have said before, at Stable View, with all jumps tucked away where they live after every show, when they are brought back out again you and your horses will always find a different track, order of jumps, and types and position of effort. While the Eventing Academy has created its own market, we believe that there are additional opportunities that will allow Stable View to expand a presence in terms of Recognized events. As you know, Stable View's view is that 2023 will be financially tough, and as a result, we’re keeping all of our prices unchanged for next year. As an incentive to “Ride More/Save More,” Stable View is about to launch a firsttime loyalty program. This will have the overall effect of reducing the cost of competition for regular and loyal attendees at Stable View's Recognized events. As the final details are worked out, this remains a "watch this space" topic. But to provide guidance, the program will start with the 2023 Aiken Opener and end with Oktoberfest 2023. Rider and horse combinations competing in four Recognized events during the year will receive a gift certificate for $100 while those competing in all five will receive a gift certificate for $200. “Ride More/Save More” is another attempt by Stable View to reduce the cost of riding and to keep your sport affordable. We hope to have the final details in place over the next few weeks. Have a great ride this weekend. With best regards, The Stable View Team

A BIRDER'S PARADISE
FREE TO BEE Having started in early spring with five nucleus colonies (also known as "nucs") from a local bee supplier, Stable View's bees have grown to eleven, almost twelve, hives with healthy queens. Over the summer, we have supported the bees' efforts to build up and prepare for winter. Our goal is to contribute to healthy pollinators in our area, and share the sweet fruits of their labor!
This time last year, Stable View had one resident Red-Cockaded Woodpecker. Today, we have ten (six adults and four juveniles)! Additionally, by increasing our number of nest boxes we have helped many of our feathered friends thrive: this year, we have fledged 200+ Eastern Bluebirds (an increase of 50% compared to last year); a pair of Eastern Screech Owls fledged two young; and the American Kestrels fledged all five nestlings from the same nest box as in previous years. According to our expert, Mark Pavlosky of MPJ Wildlife, we expect to observe many migrant species working their way South early this fall. We look forward to hosting bird watchers who wish to view native, rare, or endangered species on their lists!
HISTORICALLY, "A GATHERING PLACE" Set out afoot–or ahoof–on our 15 miles of marked trails, each named in honor of local Native American tribes, where you may see evidence of our prescribed fires, which increase plant diversity, perpetuate endangered species, allow wildlife easier access to food sources, restore nutrients back into the soil, and reduce the risk of wildfires.
