welcome

There's lots to Report!

Don't forget that unusually, Cross Country starts by the Kennels - this is an interesting opportunity for EA Riders to use a part of the facility that normally the domain of 3*, 4* and 5* Riders. You'll need to allow extra time from Warm Up to get to the Start. Next up... We're going to build our last, last, last Arena. Positioned on the right of the Pavilion, it will be around 300' X 200'. It will primarily be used for the HJ program, but inevitably it will be used for Eventing as well. The corner will be just inside the sand path opposite the dark green transformer. In addition... After Mark Phillips and Helen West set the 4* track for Oktoberfest, we decided to start a gradual transition that would provide knowledge, confidence, and sustainability as Mark gradually goes into retirement. Last year, Mark and Helen jointly designed the Bicton 5* - Bicton took the place of Burghley - and worked very well together. Our hope is that undertaking a transition will mean that responsibilities can be seamlessly transferred with no nasty surprises. Apart from the above, the weather looks good for the weekend. The grass is fully dormant, and we had a little rain last weekend. Mogie has some interesting stuff going on out there - have fun. Please don't forget the EA Awards at Decembers Eventing Academy. With best wishes from the Stable View Team

A BIRDER'S PARADISE

FREE TO BEE Having started in early spring with five nucleus colonies (also known as "nucs") from a local bee supplier, Stable View's bees have grown to eleven, almost twelve, hives with healthy queens. Over the summer, we have supported the bees' efforts to build up and prepare for winter. Our goal is to contribute to healthy pollinators in our area, and share the sweet fruits of their labor!

This time last year, Stable View had one resident Red-Cockaded Woodpecker. Today, we have ten (six adults and four juveniles)! Additionally, by increasing our number of nest boxes we have helped many of our feathered friends thrive: this year, we have fledged 200+ Eastern Bluebirds (an increase of 50% compared to last year); a pair of Eastern Screech Owls fledged two young; and the American Kestrels fledged all five nestlings from the same nest box as in previous years. According to our expert, Mark Pavlosky of MPJ Wildlife, we expect to observe many migrant species working their way South early this fall. We look forward to hosting bird watchers who wish to view native, rare, or endangered species on their lists!

HISTORICALLY, "A GATHERING PLACE" Set out afoot–or ahoof–on our 15 miles of marked trails, each named in honor of local Native American tribes, where you may see evidence of our prescribed fires, which increase plant diversity, perpetuate endangered species, allow wildlife easier access to food sources, restore nutrients back into the soil, and reduce the risk of wildfires.
