USEF/USDF "SPRING FEVER" DRESSAGE
April 9&10, 2022
welcome Dear friends,
We have drawn from across the country to invite prominent 'S' judges to our recognized shows with the intention of giving riders exposure to judges for whom they might not otherwise have a chance to demonstrate progress. This weekend we are pleased to welcome judges Cesar Torrente and Cheryl Holekamp. Cesar Torrente has been involved with horses since the age of 12, riding in his first grand prix before he was 20. Born in Bogota, Colombia Cesar is an internationally acclaimed dressage judge with a unique international fan base partly due to his blog and Facebook posts sharing advice for dressage riders at all levels. Cesar has successfully competed in 3 Pan Am Games and 2 Central American Games. In 2010, he earned a Team Gold Medal at the South American Games held in Colombia and a 2nd Team Gold Medal at the Central American Games held in Puerto Rico. It was at this time that Cesar decided to start his international career as an FEI judge. He is the first judge to be promoted through the new FEI educational system to 4*. In 2019 he received approval by the US Equestrian Federation (USEF) to become an “S” Judge. Cheryl Holekamp has spent many years breeding riding horses with her husband. She was a local winner in dressage, jumping, eventing, even some hunters. At the time, the Holekamps bred Trakehners at their New Spring Farm in Missouri, with great success. They owned the Trakehner stallion “Windfall” that helped the US earn the Team Bronze Medal for Eventing at the Olympic Games in Athens. Tim and Cheryl Holekamp were named Trakehner Breeders of the Year in 2019 and were honored by the German Trakehner Society at the 2019 Trakehner stallion licensing in Neumunster. This is the first time that this honour had been bestowed upon American Trakehner breeders. Cheryl received her USDF Gold Medal in 2006 on her horse “Hera”. She is one of the few who have earned this honor on a horse they bred and trained themselves. She is currently a USEF ‘S’ judge and resides in Ocala, FL. A reminder that we have structured our mid-summer USEF/USDF Too Hot To Trot II (August 19 through 21) so that there is an added day of competition, allowing riders to receive three separate scores for this particular show. We hope you will take advantage of the growth of our year-round Dressage program and add upcoming show dates to your calendar! With best wishes, The Stable View Team

A BIRDER'S PARADISE
FREE TO BEE Having started in early spring with five nucleus colonies (also known as "nucs") from a local bee supplier, Stable View's bees have grown to eleven, almost twelve, hives with healthy queens. Over the summer, we have supported the bees' efforts to build up and prepare for winter. Our goal is to contribute to healthy pollinators in our area, and share the sweet fruits of their labor!
This time last year, Stable View had one resident Red-Cockaded Woodpecker. Today, we have ten (six adults and four juveniles)! Additionally, by increasing our number of nest boxes we have helped many of our feathered friends thrive: this year, we have fledged 200+ Eastern Bluebirds (an increase of 50% compared to last year); a pair of Eastern Screech Owls fledged two young; and the American Kestrels fledged all five nestlings from the same nest box as in previous years. According to our expert, Mark Pavlosky of MPJ Wildlife, we expect to observe many migrant species working their way South early this fall. We look forward to hosting bird watchers who wish to view native, rare, or endangered species on their lists!
HISTORICALLY, "A GATHERING PLACE" Set out afoot–or ahoof–on our 15 miles of marked trails, each named in honor of local Native American tribes, where you may see evidence of our prescribed fires, which increase plant diversity, perpetuate endangered species, allow wildlife easier access to food sources, restore nutrients back into the soil, and reduce the risk of wildfires.
