With this award, Galopin re-establishes itself as the intermediary between the philosopher and the craftsman, between the pedagogue and the child and between the landscape designer and the builder, and in this case being an intermediary between the concept and the market. Below, we provide more information about the news: the press release provided by Afamour to the media publishing the winners of the 2nd Design Award 2012 and some of the news published in different media. We have also included information about this new playground equipment.

NAVICULARIA
NAVICULARIA INTEGRATES MODULAR FLEXIBILITY AND A PASSION FOR THE SEA Navicularia is a new range developed by Galopin which integrates the flexibility of a modular design and the passion for everything related with the sea and a nautical theme into one design. Navigating between concepts and figures, Navicularia tries to get away from two-dimensional simplifications (flat, orthogonal panels), common in this type of elements, and get close to the shapes used in naval construction, creating a leisure element that is spatially complex, rich in detail and incredibly evocative. The world of navigation has always been somewhat surrounded by a halo of mystery and adventure.
Navicularia’s design starts from the modularity of its elements.
The fact of going into the unknown, of travelling beyond the horizon and feeling the overwhelming dimension of the ocean while becoming aware of our minuscule existence has turned the sea, sailors and their ships into the subjects of countless stories and legends. This all gives ships and almost mythical dimension. Far from being a mere transport method, ships have souls, they are born and named and they live and die; some of them even reappear as wandering ghosts.
NAVICULARIA
ANCIENT TECHNOLOGY TO DREAM OF NAVIGATION Technology that is over one thousand years old that still amazes us, and makes us dream as if we were children. The challenge started by trying to create a modular element with a nautical theme but, staying away from the common solution of a “façade game”, made from posts and two-dimensional panels, trying to achieve a certain complex geometry (so typical of the world of naval construction), compatible with a simple execution and a massproduction nature. The simplicity of the aggregation system allows us to create an entire range of ships, with the same details, with which we can give an answer
to a very diverse range of spatial, economic and conceptual details in a manner that is always appropriate; as well as creating groups that are varied, attractive, coherent and easily customisable based on the type or theme that is needed (Galley, Nao, Caravel, Ship, Galleon ... merchant ship, pirate ship, Naval battle, the Age of Discovery, the ghost ship, the sunken wreck…) The final dimensions, as well as a wide catalogue of accessories make Navicularia an element that is capable of holding an incredibly number of users playing simultaneously.
Galopín has performed tests with real playing for its new elements of Navicularia
NAVICULARIA
A MIXED SYSTEM: METAL-WOOD Navicularia is based on a mixed system of metal and wood. This enables organising the main structure on one hand (wood) which is simple and features great resistance and ease of assembly, and, on the other hand, a secondary (wood) structure made of “frames”, hull (curved surfaces) and decks, which provides freedom of forms and “material toughness”.
guide and “filled” with planks of wood, of 40x40 mm size, without any other kind of rail fastening devices. This allows us to stay away from flat panels and to provide the element with that complex threedimensional aspect so typical of ship structures. Moreover, this “three-dimensionality” opens up new usability potential for the outer surfaces and the inner residual spaces.
This combination also makes Navicularia a play element that is appropriate for any area.
Apart from these structures, main and secondary, the element is completed with accessories such as portholes, water slides, rails, stairs, scalable surfaces...
The main detail throughout the rage is based on the hull’s curved panel, formed by a side metallic
NAVICULARIA
The metallic structure enables great modularity due to the connection of several modules.
The wood finishing makes Navicularia easy to be integrated into a large number of surrounding, providing safe playing.
NAVICULARIA
EDUCATIVE PLAY ACCESSORIES Navicularia, in addition to being a very complete game due to its spatial complexity and large variety of leisure courses available, (deck, forecastle, captain’s chamber, cellar, masts…) is complemented by an entire range of accessories related to the world of sailing and the sea. Rudders, cannons, telescopes, compasses, themed educational panels, intercoms, treasure maps, customizable navigation charts... All these accessories allow playing with discovery and spatial exploration, role playing, dynamic educational playing… which makes Navicularia a very attractive game regardless of the user’s age range.
Accessories related with the world of sailing and the sea for discovery and exploration playing.
NAVICULARIA
THE GALLEON, A LARGE PLAY AREA The Galleon is an element with an impressive size and, particularly, a high capacity to evoke. Its volume, compactness, geometry and its intended semi-traditional finish bring it closer to being a true ship than a playground element.
The modularity of the Galleon enables obtaining multiple dimensions by adding or removing modules. Galopin’s design system allows us to visualise the Galleon in its surroundings before its installation
NAVICULARIA
A LARGE VESSEL OR A FLEET OF SHIPS The simplicity of the aggregation system allows us to create an entire family of ships with the same detail, so that we can satisfy various special, economic or theme requests, always in an adequate manner, as well as to create varied, attractive, coherent and easily customisable groups of elements as
a function of the type or theme that one wants to create Galley, Nao, Caravel, Ship, Galleon ... merchant ship, pirate ship, Naval battle, the Age of Discovery, the ghost ship, the sunken wreck‌)
The Galley, Carabel, Nao, Vessel, Galleon a merchant ship or simply a fishing boat. Everything is possible with Navicularia.
