LET'S HAVE SOME FUN! Are you tired of baby updates yet? I'm just so excited and I feel like you are all my extended family so I enjoy sharing my journey with you. I didn't want to overwhelm new or potential clients by posting too much about baby on my biz accounts, so if you want to join in on the fun, definitely check out my personal Instagram account @stacymaeandco. My due date is March 30 so it's anyone's guess when she'll actually arrive. I've got a contest going on if you want to play. Email me how much you think she'll weigh (pounds and ounces) and when you think she'll make her debut and you could win a $50 Amazon gift card.

What to Wear: Spring Edition HOW TO LOOK YOUR BEST IN PHOTOS Over the years, i've learned some tips to help take the stress out of planning outfits for your next family photo shoot. Here are some of my faves! 1. Avoid logos or graphics. And don't forget about footwear! Nothing ruins a beautiful family photo quicker than a pair of old, beat up shoes. 2. Stay away from super bright colors or anything neon. A neutral color palette photographs the best against a lush, green backdrop. Think soft colors like blush, denim, cream, gray and beige. The tricky part with neutrals is making sure you avoid looking bland. You can do that by adding different textures and pops of color with accessories like hats, belts, necklaces, bows, etc. 3. Layering looks great in photos. A button down over a t-shirt. A denim jacket. A cardigan. If it gets too warm, you can also take off a layer! 4. Clothes that move and flow such as maxi dresses are great for women and girls. 5. Avoid wearing too much of the same color. Instead choose one or two colors that complement each other.

Does clothing really matter?
DO look through your closet before buying new clothes. Look for base pieces you really like. A favorite pair of jeans, a cute dress. Use those anchor pieces to build your wardrobe.
DON'T wear matching outfits. It'll give your photos a dates look. Instead, show some personality! Don't be afraid to mix patterns. Just keep them on a smaller scale .
DO use your location and time of year as inspiration. A spring session is great for romantic, neutral attire while bold colors are perfect for a fall day.
DON'T forget about accessories. I mentioned this briefly on the previous page, but accessories can help add character to your clothing and give a variety of looks. Hats, sunglasses, scarves, belts, socks, jewelry, etc.
Yes and no! The way I shoot is very laid back and relaxed, but that doesn't necessarily mean I want your clothing to look the same way. After all, you're investing in family photos, it's important to take the time to plan and help everyone look their best. Clothing can set the tone, mood, and style of your shoot. Some of my favorite places to shop are Old Navy, the Gap (just avoid anything with their logo splashed across it!), Zara, Forever 21, H&M, Target, CrewCuts, and American Eagle. If you are buying something new or even grabbing from your own closet, please feel free to text me pictures. If you send me a quick cell phone snap of everything laid out together, I can tell you where to add or take away. Let's be honest though, in the end, your photo shoot is so much more than clothing. It's about the moments, the togetherness, the connection you share.
4 REASONS I LOVE SPRING!

WE GET TO COME OUT OF HIBERNATION
THE DAYS ARE LONGER
Once the weather starts to warm up you'll notice that people spend more time outside and the world comes alive again.
We are blessed with more sunlight and more opportunities to bask in the golden light.

FLOWERS BEGIN TO BLOOM
WE GET TO JUMP IN PUDDLES
This is probably my favorite part! Tulips. Cherry blossoms. Rose gardens. So many pretty backdrops to take advantage of.
Rain is inevitable so why not embrace it and have a little fun. Grab your rain boots and a colorful umbrella and don't forget your camera!

Breaking Baby News! DID YOU HEAR THE LATEST? No, she's not here yet, but I do have a new baby I want to tell you about. Stacy Mae & Co is a new blog I'm super excited about. You may have heard me talk about it already, but I wanted to tell you about my goals for this new baby. I've been wanting to complete a Project 365 for the longest time, but each time I start I end up failing miserably. In case you're not familiar, a Project 365 is a photo a day for an entire year. When I found out I was pregnant, I knew this was going to be my best opportunity to take on such a huge project. The problem? Where was I going to post all of these images? I didn't want them stuck on my computer. I wanted to share them. So I created the blog as a way to share my journey and document this special time. Once I started dreaming about all the fun photos I wanted to take, a lightbulb went off. Why not invite you to learn alongside me? I've been offering beginner photography classes here and there for years, but nothing was ever consistent. Well, this is an opportunity for me to teach and help grow your photography skills for an entire year!! How, you ask? Keep reading!
HOW YOU CAN LEARN WITH ME Stacy Mae & Co is a place for me to write about motherhood and share tips and tricks with you about how I am plan to photograph this amazing journey. I've created a private FB group where I'll be posting the images from my Project 365. I decided to make it a paid, online community for 2 reasons. 1. I am going to be sharing daily pictures of my sweet girl so I want to make sure members are people I've approved and not creepy weirdos. 2. I am hoping to build a community of moms who are passionate about taking pictures of their kids so this is a way for me to weed out anyone who is not not serious about learning. Along with daily photos, I'll be creating monthly content and behind the scenes videos of me photographing the baby and hope to record editing tutorials as well.
You don't necessarily need to be a new mom to benefit from the online community. The tips and tricks can be used to photograph children of any age. I'll be teaching about how to use window light indoors, where to find good light outdoors (once the temperatures warm up), camera settings you need to know, how to create that nice, blurry background, using props in your pictures, simple composition tips, and whatever else pops up. I'll also be encouraging questions in the group because that'll help me to know what you'd like to learn in the future. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, click this link. If you're local, I'll also be teaching more in person classes soon. Once I figure out how to juggle being a new mom and owning a business again. Lol!
