THE MIGRANTS ADVISORY COUNCIL The Migrants’ Advisory Council is a political representation of the interests of immigrants in Graz who make up more than 10% of the total population of Graz. The council consists of 9 members (non-EU citizens) elected also by non-EU immigrants living in Graz. Members are elected through a direct and secret ballot that takes place on the same day as the Graz Municipal Council elections and serve for the same legislative period of 5 years. The council members work on a voluntary basis. They convene regularly to work in meetings that are open to the public. The work of the council is supported by staff of the Migrants’ council office. The Migrants’ Advisory Council (formerly Foreigner Advisory Council) was established on July 6, 1995 by a policy resolution of the Municipal Council of Graz.
