Instructions for Viva la Diva – glamorous gemstone jewellery 1

Take one pack of FIMO effect in the gemstone colours citrine, rose quartz and ruby quartz and roll each one out using the acrylic roller first and then the clay machine on setting 3. Cover each sheet of FIMO effect in gold leaf metal. Cover an additional sheet of citrine on the front and back in gold leaf metal. To create a crackle effect, fold the rose quartz and ruby quartz sheets in the middle and put each one through the clay machine, folded edge first, on setting 3.

2

To make the umbel (heart of the flower) cut a max. 20 cm long, 2 cm wide strip out of the citrine FIMO effect sheet that‘s covered on both sides in gold leaf metal. Make approx. 1 cm long slits along one long side of the strip with the kitchen knife. Roll the strip up and then use the kitchen knife to carefully separate the individual ‚tips‘. For the ear clips and the ring, cut along approx. 10 cm long strips and roll them up as described above.

3

Print out the pattern sheet and cut out the petal templates. To make a petal, place the paper template onto a crackled sheet of FIMO effect or onto the sheet of ruby quartz that‘s gilded on one side. Next, cut the petal out of the sheet of clay by going around the edges of the paper template with the kitchen knife – you will need 5 to 8 petals, depending on the size. Use your finger to give each petal a curved shape. The small petals are pressed to the underneath of the flower head first, overlapping slightly at the sides. The medium-sized ones are next, positioned in an offset manner. The large petals are the last to be added.

Tip: Unfinished items and left-over bits of material can be stored in a sealed plastic bag or airtight container, e.g. a plastic box or jar. 2

To make the beads, shape eight small balls out of the left-overs, stick them onto thick bead-piercing needles and suspend over the tumbler. Cut a disc out of a remaining sheet of clay using the small glass. Harden the flowers, beads and disc in the oven for approx. 30 minutes at 110°C. Leave to cool and then varnish. Make three holes in the disc using the punch pliers. Pull two approx. 110 cm long pieces of leather cord together through one of the holes in the disc and the other two ends of the cord through a different hole. Pull all four cord ends together through the third hole. String two beads onto each of the ends of cord and make a knot underneath each bead.

5

Stick the disc of FIMO effect to the underneath of the flower using the hot glue gun. The FIMO effect flower can be custom made to match any outfit and can be moved higher or lower along the leather cord as required without any additional hold. Varnish the ring in gold. Stick one small flower umbel each onto the ring and ear clips respectively. Your new designer jewellery is now finished!
