Graduate position with Michelin Tyres PLC Danielle Jankiewicz graduated from Staffordshire University in July 2012 with a first-class honours degree in Events Management – a degree accredited by the Tourism Management Institute. Following her excellent result, she was offered a graduate position within the Michelin Tyre Group, where she is currently employed.

Opportunity for a year-long work placement Staffordshire University’s Tourism and Events students have the opportunity to work on a year-long placement during their third year. Danielle successfully applied to work in Michelin’s communications and events department and was heavily involved in the company’s centenary celebrations. Staffordshire University student - the best decision we made Says Phil Baldock, Head of Communications at Michelin Tyre PLC, “Michelin’s centenary celebrations, which comprised organising nine events and a Press Conference in a single week, were ambitious and extremely complex. The decision we took to employ a Staffordshire University student on a placement proved to be the best decision we made. Her organisation, initiative, adaptability and dependability were fundamental to the success we had; she exceeded expectations in every way; thank you!” Exciting and rewarding experience “Studying Events Management provided me with knowledge and skills that are needed to work in the event industry,” comments Danielle. “As a result of this, I was given the opportunity to do a placement year with Michelin Tyre PLC and put theory into practice. I have helped organise some big events whilst working for Michelin, meeting a lot of famous and important people along the way. I have had a huge amount of responsibility and my confidence has increased knowing that I played a major role in some very successful events. It has been an extremely valuable experience and one that I have found very exciting and rewarding.” Danielle Jankiewicz BA(Hons) Events Management

Dream job in Sydney

“Since completing the two-year Fast-track Business Management award in 2009, I have achieved more than I ever thought I would. I began my career by playing a pivotal role in the start-up of the UK subsidiary of a very successful global licensing organisation. The subsidiary increased in size dramatically from eight employees in 2009, when I first joined, to over 200 employees to-date. My hard work, dedication and passion resulted in me being transferred to Sydney, a city I have always dreamt of living in, to use my experience to help develop yet another new subsidiary. I believe my degree propelled me into my role and played a key part in my success. The experience, the lessons learned and the fast-paced hard work ethic needed to complete the course transformed me from a shy sixth form school leaver to a driven, confident and committed businesswoman within two years. I would recommend the Business Management award to anyone who is willing to put in the hard work for a solid two years to reap the benefits of this impressive degree in their future working life. Heather Marston, BA(Hons) Business Management
