WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
MASTER OF BUSINESS
ADMINISTRATION
If you want to get ahead in business, you need an approach that sets you apart from the crowd, and an MBA that offers more. That’s exactly what we offer: from our commitment to practical learning and our industry-recognised professors, to securing industry links which will help drive your career or business. Our philosophy is to give you the skills, contacts and experience necessary to get you exactly where you want to be.
CORE COMPETENCIES The aim of the MBA is to give MBA candidates the ability to deal with real world issues of management and leadership. Working within the intellectual and challenging environment of Staffordshire University Business School, you will develop the key competencies you need to apply contemporary decision-making techniques in complex situations. You will be equipped to tackle the kinds of situations that managers and leaders face every day, throughout a wide range of industry and business sectors.
PROBLEM AND PRACTICE BASED LEARNING Be prepared for a challenge: the pace will be fast. Mixing theory with experience, our MBA is based on problem and practice based learning. Whilst some of these problems and practices form part of academic staff input, many more will be drawn from your own experiences. This means you will work collaboratively with well-known organisations, fellow professionals and teaching staff to tackle real-world, authentic problems at every stage. Applying yourself to practical problems will help you develop the skills required more quickly and more robustly than traditional classroom learning.
TAILORED, FLEXIBLE LEARNING SOLUTIONS Our MBA offers options to study in a number of different ways - either full time or part time, intensively or exibly, in order to suit individual requirements and timescales. Timetabled sessions will involve afternoons, evenings and in some cases weekends.
KEY INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS We have close links with a number of local and national organisations, enabling MBA candidates to undertake research in real-life scenarios and projects. Our strong industry partnerships promote networking, future employment and also help strengthen our module content. We bring together established business leaders with the business leaders of the future.
ACADEMIC STAFF The delivery team selected for the Staffordshire University MBA is recognised for their passion, research, expertise and industry experience, and all have strong reputations for publishing articles in leading academic journals. All MBA staff are research active, and their research is adding direct value to the modules delivered.

THE SKILLS YOU NEED FOR SUCCESS
MASTER OF BUSINESS
ADMINISTRATION
While knowledge and understanding is a key part of our new MBA, it’s not the whole picture. We believe skills need to be applied in context to become the kind of ‘competencies’ that turn ordinary business thinkers into extraordinary business leaders. They will define your employability once you graduate, and empower you to advance your career in the future.
STRATEGIC AGILITY You will have the ability to perceive and implement direction at a strategic level, and to evaluate the implications.
ORGANISATIONAL AGILITY You will be able to navigate effectively within an organisation, with a deep understanding of both formal structures and informal ones, like company culture.
CUSTOMER FOCUS
DRIVE FOR RESULTS
CAREER AMBITION
You will develop the ability to understand what a customer really wants and how you should operate to secure repeat business. Take a customer perspective to ensure you always provide what is required, even when there are unrealistic expectations.
You will be able to get results with the three key drivers of quality, cost and timescale - even when the pressure is on.
You will know how to take steps to understand your abilities, and your limitations, as well as what new skills and competencies you need to secure the next step on your career ladder.

I was actually sat in the middle of Kabul when I decided it would be a good idea to do something extra outside of work. I found some material about the Ministry of Defence (MoD) MBA scheme and thought it would be a good avenue to take to bolster my future. The MBA course offers members of HM Forces the opportunity to study via distance learning using the university’s virtual learning environment. They have a maximum of five years to complete the course and their studies may be put on hold when serving out-of-area or because of a change of circumstances.

WHAT OUR GRADUATES SAY What our graduates say about our MBA is important to us, and should be important to you. The whole course is centred around our MBA candidates, and is dedicated to developing their skills, experience and career. So when they say good things, it’s the ultimate testimonial.
I would definitely recommend the Staffordshire University MBA. There is a very healthy international mix and the lecturers are well prepared in terms of knowing how to teach international students. They are open minded, approachable and get their message across well. Everything about Staffordshire University is very passionate, from the teaching to the students and staff. Jo Lynn Chan, MBA Graduate
I found the teaching style to be very interactive with a focus on involving all students. The lecturers were very supportive and friendly and were happy to provide additional help. Parvathy Venugopal, MBA Graduate
The MBA course is well designed. Being a student from India, it was very difficult to adapt to the significant self-learning content of the course. The faculty were always there to go an extra mile to support me. I still remember the hours and hours of discussions with staff to get clarity around the learning outcomes. I can even remember a couple of instances where we were given Saturday sessions to aid our preparation for the term assignments. The commitment shown was not just doing their job, for me it is the personal commitment. Sivan Mundru, MBA Graduate
