FASTENER OUTLOOK
Fasteners make you happy if you make sure you have them when you need them
RMZ Austria is the exclusive sales company of two important European factories for wire and fasteners production. Mr Eduard Pinchasov, CEO of RMZ, explains to Torque Magazine how important independence and delivery reliability are and gives his outlook for 2022.
For more than 20 years, RMZ Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH has been a leading company in the sale of wire and fastening products. Due to its strong strategic partnerships with steelworks in Eastern Europe, the company can act independently of other market participants and react fast to market demand.
The main steel plant of RMZ is 35 years old and produces around 3 million tons of steel annually. The factory for the production of nails, bolts and other fastening parts was established in 1912 during the tsarist era and has over 100 years of experience in the production of high quality fastening products.
“Throughout its history, our plant went through various challenging times. However, due to good management it was able to grow into one of the largest producers of fasteners in the world, sticking up to its high quality requirements and delivery obligations,” Mr. Pinchasov points out.
Due to the ongoing strategic expansion of the last years, RMZ started to serve new clients on the other side of the Atlantic in the United States, Canada and Mexico, in addition to its main markets in the European Union, Switzerland and the UK. “Go west – this is not just a saying from films, it is also our firm philosophy,” says Mr. Pinchasov.
RMZ INCREASES TONNAGE AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Despite persistent and newly emerging challenges in the supply chains, such as rising raw material and energy prices, increasing shortage of containers and ever higher transport prices, RMZ succeeded in increasing both tonnage and customer satisfaction.
“We are proud to say that all our customers received uninterrupted deliveries in the last year, all contracts were fulfilled on time.” With this, Mr Pinchasov pointed to the fact that, despite existing contracts, many customers were not supplied by their suppliers last year, or supplied with significant delays, or at subsequently increased prices. In the high phase of the corona crisis RMZ only accepted a selected amount of new customers in order to ensure the delivery reliability to longterm partners. “It is more important to us to build strong, long term and trustbased relationships than the quickly earned euro or pound.” He therefore encourages companies to find alternative and trustworthy suppliers in good times.
ALL IN ONE HAND
From the melt to the billets and wire rod to the finished nail or screw – RMZ and its partner plants manage the entire production process. “Many who have switched to goods from Asia in recent years now have to realise that a supposedly low price is not everything. Nothing is more expensive than a production standstill. That doesn't happen to our customers,” assures Mr Pinchasov. In addition, RMZ typically takes care of the logistics, the customs clearance and delivers free to the door of the customer.
“Whether EPAL, CE certification, DIN and ISO standard or IATF 16949: 2016 certification for the automotive industry –we can produce according to all common standards and deliver faster than any ship from Asia – even if it doesn't get stuck in the Suez Canal,” says Mr Pinchasov, emphasising the risks inherent in a long supply chain. In order to minimise the potential problems, RMZ observed that many companies recently shift their purchasing strategy to European suppliers.
GOALS FOR 2022: GROWTH, EXPANSION AND NEW CLIENTS
Growth, expansion and new clients are the objectives of the company for the new year. “With our significantly increased production capacity for the upcoming years we look forward to serve even more satisfied customers. We will focus especially on strengthening our position in the UK and the US as we see a lot of potential in these countries with a long and glorious tradition of fastener distribution,” says Mr Pinchasov, who is already planning his next visit to these regions. He encourages interested companies to reach out to RMZ and looks forward to building a strong strategic partnership with them.
