WOMEN IN FASTENERS REMACHES FACTORY >
In 2014, a Spanish company contacted me to develop the European market with its rivet production. The continuous travelling brought me back to China to meet with old friends and producers, where I began to speak with them on developing new strategies for the European market.
In 2017, with the help of one of the most important producers in China, I founded the company Remaches Factory srl. I can say that fasteners changed my life with a great escalation into success.
What does your day-to-day job involve?
My day is that of a typical company manager. I am constantly keeping an eye on every sector of the company as well as being aware of the geopolitical, financial and global situation to understand the trends and organise future actions. I am very keen to increase efficiency using new systems to simplify the job for our customers and give an immediate response. Additionally, I am always in contact with the production team to discuss weekly or monthly issues as well as taking care of communication issues in general.
I have a central role in the company, but every part of my team is completely independent. This is because all of them have great experience in this sector and we all have a similar view.
The company works as a team and we have all believed in this project from the beginning. We share doubts and solutions, we take care of each other, we talk about everyone’s opinion and keep an open mind regarding innovation and solutions.
What are the biggest changes you have seen in the industry and company since you started?
Since I joined the fastener industry in 2001, the industry has completely changed. I do need to mention that this world has been greatly affected by globalisation. Since 2006, I have started to see big industrial production moving into China whilst the knowhow has been growing in the Far East. In 15 years, the scenery has completely changed, and the skills needed for the production of fasteners and fixings that we use to have 20 years ago are not available anymore. But we cannot change this movement... at least not for the moment.
China has acquired the sufficient skills to produce high quality products and a large amount of products for the fastener industry are produced in the Far East. Therefore, I wanted to do something to ensure an excellent and constant quality of our product. We have spent months building up a range of rivets composed of standard in 3,5 aluminium level and a complete range of structural rivets as solution for all applications where efficiency, strength and resistance are required.
We are mainly focused on serving big distributors in Europe that are already importing from the Far East.
Can you share some of your career highlight and milestones so far?
My career so far has been full of experiences, some of them were not perfect but for 95% I can say it is a wonderful job. Firstly, to sell fasteners, you must love fasteners. You must be constantly observing, following new products and new solutions. I like to see what is in the market, and this has been something that has opened my mind to the incredible existing solutions. It is a very fascinating world, and you need to be curious, ambitious, kind, educated and skilled. Although being a woman meant that I had to give 110%, I have always been fixed on my view, ambitious and enthusiastic and I try to pass this onto my team because they are the future of the company.
What is your favourite thing about the fastener industry?
The constant innovation. I find it great that I am able to read fastener magazines and discover stories of companies, their products and their efforts for innovation. Keeping an eye on this constant evolution is very stimulating because it never fails to surprise me.
What do you think needs to be done to encourage more women to get involved in the fastener industry?
I think that women are very compatible with the fastener industry. Women are used to challenges and managing many activities at the same time. Women can manage chaos, whilst loving detail orientated jobs, and to see things done well.
I also think that women have an extra gear when it comes to communication. The world of fixings acquires a touch of style, broad ideas and spontaneity which a woman has. I think that women have the same chances as men and once a woman unleashes her knowledge, she is very much appreciated and respected in this area of work. I invite all women to think about it...
