ASSOCIATION Environment and Ethics COMMITTEE

The Environment and Ethics subcommittee is working towards encouraging students to live sustainably and get involved in the environmental projects around campus, such as the Interhall Energy Competition, in which halls of residence compete with each other by reducing water, gas and electricity consumption. That means energy is used more efficiently, we require less natural resources, it helps the university cut its energy bill, and a part of the money saved goes back to halls committees! Win win for everybody, so get involved! We also encourage you to recycle, reduce waste, buy locally, chose Fairtrade products, reduce weekly meat consumption or even get involved in one of the community gardens around town and grow your own healthy organic food! We organise an annual Green Week too, which is in week 7, Semester 2 this year! Email: eande@st-andrews.ac.uk Facebook: Environment and Ethics St Andrews

ommittee

The Education Committee is here to represent student opinion on education issues in communication with the University and beyond. We work closely with your School Presidents and Class Reps in ensuring that we, the students, get the best possible academic experience from our time in St Andrews. Some of the issues we have been working on recently include campaigning on capping tuition fees or pushing for extended opening hours in the library. For next year, our main goal is to foster high quality teaching for every student while ensuring that our University remains an accessible place for everyone regardless of his or her background. If you have any questions or just feel like your academic experience is lacking something important to you, please drop us an email on edu@st-andrews.ac.uk and we will do everything to help!
