Volume 1 SPECIAL EDITION HONORING OUR GENERATION MUSTANGS

MAGAZINE
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

EMERGED FROM A BIG PILE OF RUSTY AND NEGLECTED PARTS.
This is our home-built hot rod in northwest Arkansas. It is actually my wife’s car that she calls “Aquaholic.”
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!
I started this project ten years ago with life getting in the way several times. Raising kids and battling cancer and being an HVAC Tech it has had a few delays. But she is now a good running and driving car that has emerged from a big pile of rusty and neglected parts.
I built the original 289 with Edelbrock Performance parts to give it about 330 hp. I also added 4 wheel disc brakes (all Ford parts) and then recently added fuel injection to make it better. I still have a few more things to do but it is almost done.

This is my 1969 Mach 1 Mustang Fastback. It was bought in 1974 in California by my dad and imported back to Australia. He bought it from the original owner.
My dad passed away about six years ago so I got the car and restored it to what you see today. I did all the work bar the paint back to original. Currently I use the Mustang for proms and weddings locally.
She is equipped with FMX 3 speed auto, 351 2V Windsor motor, 9” diff, RHD conversion, stainless steel headers, A/C, and is the color Winter Blue.

Not quite sure where this obsession with cars and racing came from, but I haven’t been able to shake it. It was actually the opposite growing up, spending money on sports cars or motorcycles was not my parent’s priority. So I got a job at a very young age, saved my money and eventually bought my first Mustang, an 83 Foxbody Coupe. That would be one of many, not to mention the sports bikes and a Jeep, all of which I obviously modified! Now I have my dream car, my 1967 Fastback Mustang “S” code. She started off as a plain Jane “Joan” Mustang, 4 drums, no power anything and way too much chrome!
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. This passion for racing lead me into some lapping and time attack events at one of our local tracks, now “Joan” has been transformed into a half gutted, fully caged, reinforced track toy. Unfortunately, the big block 390FE only lasted a couple of seasons. Now in the hands of head porting genius and engine builder, George Christakis @MGR Performance, she’s got a stout long block 351 Windsor with aluminum heads, beefed up T5, aluminum racing drive shaft and a built posi 9 inch with 3:50 gears.
She’s like a Trans-am series racecar, but the city slicker version with 500 ft-lbs of torque! She used to be a street car pretending to be a racecar and now it is the other way around.
My biggest priority has always been independence and self sufficiency when it comes to maintaining and modifying my

Fastback. Actually, I’m like that with everything. Excluding the main powertrain, I’ve worked on everything including all the interior, electrical, safety equipment, engine accessories like cooling, pulleys, fuel system, etc... This season included my new prototype hood with heat extractors. Now most of time is spent sharing all that I’ve learned with my 5 ½ year old daughter Victoria. She tags along to some of my Cars & Coffees and track events when possible. The Ford Mustang propaganda began at an early age with her…

I’ve owned this little pony since 2006 and it started out as an original six cylinder car, all original from the first owner. I immediately dove into this car thinking I would just restore it and paint it but no, as I have almost 40 years of building hot rods of all makes and models, I wanted to redo the pony with a different flavor. I did some body mods and wrapped the body in new panels before the Pearl Purple and Black urethane paint was applied. I completely rebuilt the chasis and drivetrain and interior so that the car is an awesome cruiser. I built this car in loving memory of “Big Eddy”, my uncle who has been building hot rods with me for the past 25 years. This feature is dedicated to him.
Mods include a 302 5.0 Ford, 4 speed AOD transmission, all stock interior, all new suspension with Ford Granada disc brakes on front, tied frame with frame connectors, custom tear drop Thunderbolt hood, Shelby front valence, and all built at my shop at home at “Goobers Hot Rod Shop.” Special thanks to Dave Skiptunas over all the years and my master camera man Mark Tibor.

SHE WAS A ONE OWNER FOR MOST OF HER LIFE.
This is Daisy, my 1965 Coupe. She was a one owner for most of her life. I helped the original owners sell it to a friend’s father back in 2018.

He tore her down and started rebuilding her shortly after buying the car. Frame was stripped, powder coated, and then recoated with rust protection. Frame stiffeners installed, new brake lines, adjustable shocks and struts, new fuel tank with electric fuel pump put in before putting body back on. All original sheet metal on the car but needs a few trim pieces replaced.
Motor was replaced with this 302 and polished or chrome aftermarket parts were used to shine it up. Interior was all replaced with custom center console and front buckets. Has classic car stereo system to look like factory and the original ignition keys.
We bought the car a few years ago when his health took a turn and he could no longer enjoy it. Daisy is about 90%
done, she still needs work on a couple body blemishes and then repainted.

Originally nicknamed Herschel after the Walking Dead character for needing crutches to get around, the condition the car was in when I bought it was pretty bad. I now call it my Rolling Restoration.
MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!
My love for Mustangs started when I was 12 when I saw one at a shop that was badly rusted while on my way home from school. I watched the shop cut it up and make a drag car out of it, but one look at the overall design of the car got me hooked. I later learned it was either a 67 or 68 fastback. After looking at all the different types for those years I determined my dream car to be a 1968 428 Cobra Jet Fastback I’m Acapulco Blue with a blue interior GT. As I didn’t make a lot of money and living in upstate New York, I finally bought my first mustang being a 98 V6 coupe as the classic was not easily obtainable. After a couple years with the 98, I had bought a second Mustang, a 2000 GT convertible. Now with two Mustangs, my fiancée landed a job in Maryland, so we packed up and moved. I sadly had to let the 98 go as it would not pass Maryland’s inspection. Upon meeting some new coworkers, one saw my GT and told me they had a red Mustang as well. That Mustang was a 1968 Coupe. After offering to clean and fix it for him I asked to buy it. He sold the car to me and my great friend from New York said, “You buy that car, I’ll make sure it’s painted blue for your wedding.” I bought the car December 15, 2017 and I had 8 months to get the car running. Let’s just say it was finished literally right before the wedding.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. could. The 68 is being built the way I would have been able to order a car from Ford in 1967 for the 68 model year style. It currently has a 79 302 with a mild cam and bored over and an automatic transmission. I am hoping to start the full restoration this next spring with sheet metal work being done. The car will have its original 289 block with a 4 speed manual in place of the original 3 speed it came from factory with upon full restoration. Also added a factory console, flip open gas cap, fog lights, a custom Autosound radio for Bluetooth capabilities and hands free talking, as well as a factory C stripe, and era correct Mag 500 rims.
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!
Over the next couple years I would collect parts to do a full restoration and make it as close to my dream car as I

IT IS A MIXTURE OF A RAT ROD AND MUSTANG THAT WE INHERITED.
This is our 1966 “Ratstang.” It is a mixture of Rat Rod and Mustang that we inherited. It has the stock engine that has been bored out and head work, has a Edelbrock intake and a Demon carb, and long tube headers with home built side exhaust.

It also has a Canyon Carver full suspension system, currently sitting on 15” slotted mags in the rear and skinnies in the front, has LED headlights, and it is painted Satin Black. We just replaced the front fenders and plan on replacing the rears soon. It has over 206,141 miles on it and still frying tires!
Plans to come are more mods and then track time in the SCCA in the classic American cars category.

SHE JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR SO FAST SHE FORGOT TO UNBUCKLE HER SEAT BELT...
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.
When Beth was 12 years old, standing in the garage holding a trouble light for her older brother Bobby, she watched a bright red Mustang drive by and she was hooked. As it rumbled by, she decided some day she would own a Mustang. After leaving High School, Beth worked as a care giver at hospitals and nursing homes and raised six children and never pursued the opportunity to afford her wish of being a Pony Girl.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. Beth is someone who never drives by a garage sale and when she saw an open garage door hiding a red Mustang, behind rows of sale tables, she said “stop the car! I think I saw a vintage Mustang.” She jumped out of the car so fast she forgot to unbuckle her seat belt and was reeled back into the car. It was really funny and up the driveway she marched. There was no “for sale” sign on the Mustang but she walked right up to the guy running the garage sale and said “I’d like to buy your Mustang, is it included in your garage sale?” He didn’t intend to make it a part of the garage sale and wanted to think about it. The owner said the 67 belonged to his wife who passed away five years ago.
We asked him if he would consider selling it to a good home and he threw out a number. We asked if we could come back in a couple of hours with some money and he said “ok”. We put together every dollar we could find and drove back to the garage sale. We managed to scrape together
about 65% of the cash he wanted but Beth was insistent about going back to talk with the owner. She proceeded to tell the owner about her seeing a Mustang when she was 12 years old and how she has always wanted to own one. She promised to take good care of it.

We picked up the 67 Mustang that evening in a trailer and spent the next two years together in our garage putting it in running order. When we finished, Beth named the 67 Ruby.

NEW OR OLD, THE MUSTANG HAS A LONG HISTORY OF BEING ONE OF THE BEST...
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!
A brief history of my Mustang obsession. It was 1976 when the Mustang became a part of my life, in particular, a 1966 Coupe. In 1979, it was stored during my USAF assignment in Germany. In 1982, I drove it to North Dakota where I would finish my four year commitment to the USAF.

If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I then sold it and purchased another 1966 Coupe. I drove this Mustang from North Dakota to Anchorage, Alaska. In 2010, I purchased a 1965 Coupe, sold it, and purchased the car I have today, a 1966 Coupe. See the pattern?
I have always had an affinity for the old Mustangs but appreciate and admire the newer generations and history of the Mustang.
New or old, the Mustang has a long history of being one of the best and most popular sportscars in the world.

WE FOUND OUT FROM A PAINT CHIP UNDER THE CARPET AND THROUGH MARTI AUTO WORKS THAT IT WAS A SPECIAL EDITION MUSTANG.
This is a 1967 Ford Mustang GTA Ski Country Special. We bought the car off Ebay in 2008 sight unseen and it was all black. After redoing the interior around 2014, we found out from a paint chip under the carpet and through Marti Auto Works that it was a special edition Mustang.

We slowly worked on making sure the car was all original including the paint which the paint code was blank on the door. It has the original intake manifold and carb with matching metal tag with VIN and original vinyl top. Paint color was 1 of 5 available for the Ski Country Specials all named after Colorado ski resorts. This one is called Loveland Green.
Ski Country Specials came with limited slip differential, special paint and badging, ski holders for luggage rack, and snow tires on the rear.
