“CRUISE FOR A CAUSE” 15 YEARS OF HELPING OTHERS IN NEED
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! -

CRUISE FOR A CAUSE
HIS PASSION FOR THE ICONIC MUSTANG WENT FROM A SIMPLE ENJOYMENT TO A MISSION OF HOPE.
Dan Neve may be someone you have not heard of before. But if you attend any National Ford/Mustang shows East of the Rockies you most likely have. His efforts are well known within Ford and the Mustang community for very good reason. Dan comes from Marshfield, Wisconsin and is a typical all-American kid who’s father happened to be a Ford mechanic. So of course, bleeding blue was easy and watching the muscle car wars take place growing up he leaned towards our favorite pony car - the Mustang.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!
Dan’s first Mustang that he owned was new at the time, a 78 King Cobra. He let that go for an 81 Capri RS which was replaced by an 84 GT 5 speed 5.0 that he had kept for over 30 years and had just recently sold it to a 16 year old girl because it was her dream for it to be her first car. Dan also currently owns a 1996 Triple black Cobra Convertible and has since 1999. Like us all , he also had a few that he let go - an 1985 GT and a 1988 notch back Wisconsin State Patrol Mustang.
While attending the 45th Mustang celebration in Birmingham, Alabama, Dan had seen the new 2010 Shelby GT500 in person for the first time. That car would not only become a must have for him, but it would ultimately change his life forever. As he was making a deal to find his new Shelby, his family’s lives drastically changed. In November and then Dec of 2010, Dan’s mother and his wife were both diag-

nosed with breast cancer. As tough as that may seem, Dan says instead of despair, he likes to say he had a “Ford has a better Idea” moment. That’s where his passion for the iconic Mustang went from a simple enjoyment to a mission of Hope.

In early 2011 while his wife was undergoing therapy and surgery, he went ahead with his idea and bought the new 2010 Mustang Shelby GT500 planning to use it for making a difference. Dan was working full time in the construction inducstry and planned on attending as many local events as possible with a goal of raising $10,000. His plan was to do this for 1 year,

then move back to a normal life of going to a few shows throughout the summer. Dan coined the name “Cruise for a Cause” and began his mission to help others in need. His first event was at VIR for the SVT Superfest and was invited to attend as Ford Performance would be there and he was offered to host ride a longs with the latest Ford cars with Ford drivers for a donation. This kicked off the year in a way he had never seen coming. By years end, he was able to raise the $10,000 for cancer support, but the biggest thing that changed his life was that Ford asked him to be apart of the 2011 SEMA Ford Out Front display.

This was something he had never dreamed of, but certainly could not pass up. So that October he and a friend packed up their suitcases and loaded them into the Shelby and drove to Vegas. It was at SEMA where Dan was introduced and met many within the industry including Carroll Shelby. This is when he realized that this was not going to be just a 1 year endeavor. Those first couple of years he had donated to Susan G. Komen, but his wife Linda asked how hard it would be to create his own nonprofit so that 100% of the funds raised could support cancer research fully - no middleman expenses. So in 2013 Cruise for a Cause become an official 501c 3 nonprofit organization.
Cruise for a Cause is now heading into its 15 year and has exceeded any expectations Dan could have ever dreamed up. From Ford again having the Shelby back to SEMA for the 50th display, as well as meeting with the head of Mustang marketing at Ford World HQs. Ford has been a wonderful partner in his mission and has helped make that early goal of $10,000 on year one now turn into over 1.3 million dollars donated to date in support of cancer research. Dan has made many friends in the auto industry over the past
15 years and says he especially thanks Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, Roush, Saleen, Shelby American, RTR, BFGoodrich Tires, National Parts Depot, CJ Pony Parts, Middleton Motorsports, Griffin Ford, VMP Performance, Anderson Composites, Katzkins Leather Interiors, Johnson Towing, Furo Headers, Prosticker.com and many more.

Dan now hosts two events each year. Both events are at the Ho Chunk Casino in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Usually the first weekend of May Dan hosts the ALL IN Against Cancer Car and Truck show and his BIG ending to the year is his FALL
