MAGAZINE FEBRUARY 2024
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ
As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.
Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.
From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!
PENNHURST ASYLUM
This was a fun adventure. Pennhurst is extremely famous in the ghost hunting world for its extreme paranormal occurrences and sad history. Now did I see anything? Shit no!! But do I ever… nope. I have always watched this place on ghost hunting tv shows and to had a chance to actually see it in person, so I was down. Just like Trans Alleghany Lunatic Asylum, I had all my stuff packed, car shined up, and of course an extra pair of boxers for when a ghost shits in your pants. (FYI this has never happened to me but did happen to good friend of mine, Bob Sacramento).
Pennhurst was built in 1903 in Spring City, Pennsylvania, as a place for people with mental disabilities. Later, there was also a Eugenics program in 1913, to prevent the feeble-minded patients from intermixing their genes with people in general population. Now you can kind of see where this is going. It wasn’t until 1968, when conditions were exposed to the world in a five part television news report done by a local correspondent Bill Baldini. It had been uncovered that the place had a history of understaffing, being very

dirty, and violent. In 1983, nine employees were charged with crimes ranging from slapping and beating patients, including some wheel chair bound ones, to arranging patients to fight each other.
As we walked through the various buildings you definitely felt the dread at this location. There were underground tunnels that lead form one building to another. Oddly one of the buildings that I went to had no roof and had flies all over the corner just buzzing around. This wasn’t the weirdest part though; the weird thing was that it still smelled like piss almost 40 years after its closure. The smell was horrendous. So, I didn’t see any ghosts but it was one hell of an adventure, and gave me new respect to what those poor people had to live through, truly horrifying.

If you are in the Spring City, Pennsylvania area, check this place out as they are currently tearing down the buildings because they are so old and unstable. They pose a risk to the tour, so see it while you still can.

Hi, I am Heather Anderson. I grew up in a small town with some of my best memories helping my dad and brother work on old cars and going to the local track to watch my dad and his friends race! I have always loved cars and had a passion for them, especially the Mustang! “Angel Eyes” is my fourth Mustang that I have owned and the one I am slowly building with my own vision in memory of my best friend who passed away from brain cancer. The Mustang community really came together to make sure his bucket list dreams came true and that is one thing I just love about us. It’s not just a car... it’s so very much more.
I love drag racing my car and going to car shows just to share Richey’s story and hang out with friends and family! I have met many wonderful people through my journey that love my story and are huge supporters. So far, most of the stuff I have done to this car has been cosmetic. It has a Cervini front fascia and front splitter, GT/CS rear spoiler, new blue LED headlights, custom blue wrap, custom checker flag hood wrap, and straight pipe exhaust.
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

THE CAR HAS DEVELOPED A CATCH PHRASE OF “GOT PUT IN DA CAR SEAT” FOR THOSE
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. This car I have intentionally kept a daily driver and with all factory interior options still intact and functional - ac/heat, cruise, electric seats, radio, etc... I wanted to build/race a vehicle that would allow me to bring the family with me to these events and races. Meanwhile still being able to go FAST! So here we are 6 years later and we have one of the baddest dailys in the midwest! We plan to continue making the car as fast as we can, with the goal of being one of the fastest in the nation in full daily driver trim.
This car is driven by both my wife and I. We drive this car all over the country side with both kids in the back seats. The car has even developed a catch phrase of “got put in da car seat” for those who we beat. This is one car you can hop in and drive to the west or east coast with the family.
Car modifications include VMP 2.65L Gen3R supercharger, 5.0L built by Racers Edge, 6r80 with Circle D converter, Fore triple pump return style fuel system, 8.8 rear end - 35 spline axles, and full spool and c clip eliminators.
WHO WE BEAT.

I was 16 years old and drove a Mustang GT for the first time. I knew it was only the beginning of a passion that would last a lifetime. My first Mustang was a 1997 GT that I absolutely loved however with two school-aged kids at the time, it was fun, but not ideal. Fast-forward to April 2021, with our last one graduating high school, it couldn’t have been a more perfect time to have found this beauty and name her, Empty Nester.
At the time, I was not actively looking for another Mustang. We would see some here and there and they would either be high mileage, an automatic, or not the body-style I preferred. I was looking for that certain look. As reality was setting in that we would soon be empty nesters, and preparing for our last high school graduation, my husband happened to find this one online and said I need to go drive it. He knew what he was doing there. I test drove the car and it took me less than ten minutes to know that I would be taking her home.
Mods include Brembo brakes, aftermarket Lund tune, BMR lowering springs, full length headers, JLT cold air intake, and

IT WAS TIME TO GIVE THIS BUILD THE SAUCE!
Well since my last entry a lot has changed, the 2015 “Mosauce” build has evolved. As the name says, every Mustang owner keeps going for more so did I. I sold the NA Cobra Jet setup build and stepped into a 2016 Performance Pack, but it was time to give this build the sauce! With a Whipple 2.9 Stage 2 this would be the beginning but as we all know we can’t stop there so a Ben Calimer Stage 3 went in to help keep this new found power on track to the wheels. This would be assisted with a twin disc clutch, carbon fiber driveshaft, and DSS 2000hp rated axles. To help with getting things planted some BMR suspension upgrades were made including sway bars and links, vertical links, rear subframe and diff bushings complemented with Steeda struts and shocks.

We were finally ready to go on to giving this Coyote its howl so Stainless Works headers with Corsa sports with double X would bring this to life. With the amazing help and direction of Jarrett of Bowen Built LLC and Lund Racings E85 multi tune, this great project put down a nice 837HP and am very happy with the turn out. Am I done with this build? Is any Mustang build ever done? Lol. My next adventure with the car is to get some autocross time in and get it out to Road America and stretch the legs on this pony.
Engine mods include 5.0 Coyote V8 with Whipple supercharger (Gen 3 2.9L Stage 2), Fore Innovations twin pump return style fuel system, Boundary billet oil pump gears/ crank sprocket, Deatschwerks Injectors, ATI harmonic balancer, Stainless Power headers, full Corsa Sport 3” Exhaust with double Xpipe.
Drivetrain includes Ben Calimer Stage 3 transmission,
MGW Race Spec shifter, Lethal Performance LPX clutch, QA1 SFI carbon fiber drive shaft, 3.55 Torsen rear end, DSS 2000hp rated axle shafts, rear ARP wheel studs.

In 2018, I found my low mileage 2013 Mustang GT Premium at a local Ford dealership and rewarded myself after graduating from nursing school at age 51. It came with a few modifications, but I have added more and continue to do so. Modifications include staggered 20 inch Mach wheels, custom-painted MGP caliper covers, GT 500 rear decklid spoiler, TruFiber carbon fiber rear decklid panel, Bassani exhaust with X-pipe and black exhaust tips, CS-style rear diffuser, SCT-X4 tuner, JLT CAI, Whiteline panhard bar, Koni struts and shocks, and BMR lowering springs.
I am a member of the North Texas Mustang Club and several Facebook car clubs. I have a garage full of car show awards and enjoy group cruises, meets, and the occasional charity lap around Texas Motor Speedway. And yes! I can drive a manual!

My first car was a 1983 Ford Mustang Hatchback. My dad called me on my 16th birthday to wish me a happy birthday and to let me know he had purchased a Mustang for me. I was so excited. She was silver with a red interior. That car taught me about responsibility and maintenance. For the first time in my life I was responsible for an insurance payment and for the maintenance of my car. She died my senior year but I wish that I still had her.

“Ruby”, that is what I have named her. She is a 2016 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium Convertible. I asked my husband if we could go and check her out and of course he said yes. I took her for a test drive and fell in love. I wanted a GT, but it was during the pandemic and I couldn’t beat the price for this car. I’m a cancer survivor and I know that tomorrow isn’t promised to us. I chose to not wait for a GT and bought the car that night. I love my car. She is a reminder to me that I can do hard things and that dreams do come true. Riding with the top down is my therapy. I now have a dream of owning a Mustang from every generation.

Happiness is a Mustang.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. My love for Mustangs started back when I was a teenager. My best friend’s family owned two Foxbodys and I loved the lines and the sounds of the growling engines. My first Mustang was a 1999 Electric Green beauty with pin striping. I’ll never forget the feeling of driving in that car and the happiness it gave me. I switched to something a little more “adult” and was never happy. Then on March 17th, 2018, I saw my Ruby girl sitting there like she was just waiting for me to see her. I drove her off that lot the same day. No hesitation then or since. My Ruby has become my happy place. When I’m driving her, there are no worries. It’s just me, the road, and my music.
There’s nothing like seeing the lights of the strip glimmering off her paint. Off zipping down desert highways or really opening her up near the Speedway. I’ll switch her into sport mode and just fly. The looks I get in my girl are pretty awesome too.
I haven’t done too much but there are plans in the works. I’ve added a strut bar and changed out the trunk deck lid to

I picked up the GT during 2019, after searching for a replacement for my previous one. The month before I was involved in a serious accident with my pride and joy, was a complete write off. After weeks of late nights searching, I came across an all black 2010 GT, and the rest was history. This new Mustang grew on me day by day, car shows to track days and everything in between! I had the honor of driving my grandparents around in it, sharing memories with friends and family, and it quickly became a crowd favorite (no pun intended).
I named it Seabiscuit after a famous 1930s racehorse, being the smaller 4.6 L engine of that generation. Just like the real-life racehorse, it’s been no stranger to the racetrack - a true underdog performer that never ceases to amaze its driver and passengers!

JUST THE TIP
DID YOU MEASURE THAT RIGHT?
5 liter Coyote, 4.6 liter GTs, 2.4 liter Ecoboost. But wait, 50 years ago there were 302s 351s, 429s, all measured in cubic inches. What’s up with that? Why are cars now using the Metric System as a Unit of Measure as opposed to the Imperial Unit of Measure, but other things do not? You buy a gallon of milk, but a 2 liter bottle of soda. So what gives?
In 1975, the Metric Conversion Act was passed by Congress and was signed into law by President Gerald Ford on December 23, 1975. There are currently 3 countries in the world that DO NOT use the Metric System, and the U.S. is one of them. So there was a push to convert, and a law passed to change the entire measurement system of the United States, hence companies started making all of the required changes. But changing an entire mea-

surement system is not an easy process, especially if you are making vehicles.
When the decision was reversed and the U.S. decided to stay with the Imperial system, many industries basically said “F**k you” to the U.S. government. They had invested too much time and money into a conversion that was required by Federal law at the time and converting everything back would in no way be a good return on investment. So they stayed with the Metric system.
Mechanical parts are typically measured using the Metric system - 75mm throttle body, 3.8 liter supercharger,
etc., but then there are those pieces that are sort of the middle ground. Fuel injectors are a great example. It’s a mechanical part that is moving a liquid, but they are measured in pounds per hour, which of course is the Imperial system. Your tire pressure, supercharger/turbo boost, all rated in Pounds per Square Inch(PSI) – Imperial measurement system.
So while car manufacturers mostly changed to Metric, there are parts and pieces that are not, just to make your life a little more confusing.

TWISTED BOMBSHELL
SALUTE TO OUR MILITARY
PAUL JOSEPH GUITON
UNITED STATES ARMY AIR FORCE - 2487TH QMTC AVIATION
MY GRANDFATHER WAS MY HERO AND WAS LOVED BY EVERYONE.
When I was young, my grandfather would always have me sit with him and watch black and white World War II documentaries. He told me that he was in Europe during the war and that was about the extent of it.
Europe, was assigned to the 67th Tactical Recon Group that outfitted Spitfires and P-51 Mustangs with surveillance equipment to do clandestine missions, saw every inch of Europe during World War II by being a part of the Red Ball Express, survived the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Bodenplatte when the Germans attacked his Airfield on New Year’s Day, liberated one of the oldest concentration camps in Germany called Buchenwald, and was a soldier of the “Fighting” 2487th Quartermaster Truck Company (Aviation).
A few months ago I started to research his history and wrote a book about it. In the end, I found out that my grandfather was a bonafide war hero. In every sense of the word, he was a man that did more in his lifetime than most of us could do in multiple lifetimes. When my grandfather would tell me that he was in the Army and he drove truck, what he was really telling me was that he crossed the Atlantic Ocean being chased by a German submarine and lost them in a Hurricane, was at the largest seaborne invasion in human history and stormed Normandy at Omaha Beach, helped build the first Airfield in France paving the way for the Allied Forces to free
