Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ

As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.

Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.

From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!

FORD GRAVE TOUR

Well, Howdy Spookies! It is my favorite time of the year! Yes, that‘s right Halloween! I love Halloween, the crispy cold air, the smell of burning pumpkins, and of course cemeteries. For this month’s spotlight I would love to take you through a cemetery grave tour of some of Mustang’s finest members. So, get into your Mustang, grab your ghost stick and rock out with your block out.

First up on the tour is the final resting place of Henry Ford. He left the racetrack on April 10, 1947 at his home in Fair Lane Estate in Dearborn, MI at 11:40 pm following a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 83 years old. He is located at the Addison Ford Cemetery located in Dearborn, Michigan. It has been told that at the time of his funeral, Ford factories and showrooms worldwide were either closed or held a moment of silence to pay their final respects to such a legendary ghoul. An estimated 100,000 mourners had attended his funeral.

way on May 10, 2012 at the age of 89, from what the death certificate listed as pneumonia, but it is well known he had a heart condition as well, which had affected him for years. Now for all you yoots who don’t know, Carroll help created some of our most iconic cars namely the Shelby Cobra 427 that whooped Ferrari’s ass in Europe and of course my ghoulishly favorite the Dodge Viper. His family held a private small ceremony for his takeoff on to heaven’s racetrack. He was buried at Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg, Texas.

head of yours. He died on November 7, 1980 in Chihuahua, Mexico, at the yootful age of 50, a few days after surgery to remove tumors from his lungs. He had been diagnosed with terminal mesothelioma lung cancer in 1979, possible brought on by asbestos exposure from his asbestos crash suit he would wear while filming his own stunts on various movies. His ashes were scattered at sea in the Pacific Ocean. Ghoul Fact, his last words were “Lo Hice” or “I did it” in Spanish. So next time you are near the Pacific Ocean, stop and pay your respects to Mr. Bullitt, himself.

And finally, my personal favorite, Mr. Bullitt himself, Steve McQueen. Now I don’t need to introduce him, if you don’t know Bullitt, then honestly, you’re a brain-dead ghoul and let the pheasants feast on what is inside of that hollow

My name is Jeremy Conder and I live in Southern Indiana. My passion for cars has been something I have had since I was a child. I remember setting and drawing cars and putting my own little touches on them. This carried me to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and have my own art studio at my residence and I am into all forms of art and practice everything. I believe an object ought to have movement and flow even if it’s sitting still. With that being said, I feel I have accomplished this with my car complimenting its factory lines and curves. I bought this car as a blank canvas base model from Southern Tennessee. It wasn’t long after getting it that I was purchasing things for it and installing.

I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

“BLOODSHOT RUBY” is a Ruby Red 2018 Mustang GT. Some of the mods on the car include custom tuned from Palm Beach Dyno, 3 1/2” Corsa Extreme exhaust with a Corsa X-pipe and black chrome Corsa dual exhaust tips. I completely removed all the interior and had and installed black RoadWire leather interior with custom red stitching to match the red accent color I used throughout the car. The interior panels and dash panels have all been completely painted to match the vehicle’s color. The engine bay was also painted to match the car and I also had a Corsa cold air intake installed. Stance is everything on a vehicle, so she sets on 20” Chrome Foose wheels with 305/30/R20 rear tires and 255/35/R20 fronts. I removed the suspension and installed an Airlift Performance P3 air suspension and custom-built trunk with red alligator leather. I did it all by myself in my garage in three days. The sound system is a 8” Kenwood head unit with all Rockford Fosgate interior speakers

and tweeters with P3 12” Rockford subwoofers in a custom fit enclosure being pushed by a 1200-watt Rockford Fosgate amp.

The front spoiler is curved downward to accent the low stance with red chin spoiler rods. I painted all the calipers with G3 custom epoxy and installed red Coyote emblems to continue the red accent throughout. The car is definitely a head turner as it gets many looks and comments, as that’s what it’s all about, bringing people together to talk about our enthusiasm in cars. Ruby is and will always be a part of me as she brings me the enjoyment of those thrilling drives.

IT IS TRULY AN HONOR...

My passion for cars started at a very young age. My father Aguedo (Unqui) Mendez Sr. was a formidable mechanic and always had me by his side. The cars in the house were always running great and detailed to a nearly crystal shine. He would take me to almost every car show near town, where I learned to love his passion and soon made it my own and followed in his footsteps. Add the influence of my father to growing up in the mid 80s to early 90s. Shows like Knight Rider, Viper, MASK (cartoon), and the iconic Batmobile from Batman 1989 literally molded me and elevated my hunger for speed and amazing looking cars.

Once you get to know me a little, two things are going to stand out - my passion for cars and Batman. This is how Boosted Bat was created. With the help of great friends, crazy inspiration, and overcoming heartbreaking setbacks, my 2016 Ford Mustang GT evolved to a tire destroying, menacing looking, homage to my upbringings and the car scene. It is truly an honor when people ask to take pictures with the car, or when you see your car in a Facebook and/or Instagram feed. Today I have kids of my own, and hope to guide them to be men and women of good that love cars as much as my father and I do.

I purchased my Mustang for $400 back in June 2005. The “plan” was to have her rebuilt in three years! Long story short, it took ten. The first thing I did was name her after my wife. Mich’ls nickname is Chelby and her middle name, Ann. I believe the number one rule for a project like this is to make sure your significant other is on board. How could I go wrong by naming the car Chelby-Ann. All of the work except the final body work and paint was done by yours truly.

The Classic Mustang has always been a dream of mine. You don’t see many coupes on the road these days. Once she was complete and I sat in it, it fit like a glove and was built for cruising. The dream was complete. Now I show it several times a year as well as taking her to cruise-ins. We love meeting new people and hearing all the stories.

Mods include Shelby side scoops, ‘98 Mustang bucket seats, 2013 ish 17” Mustang rims, 3:55 gears, 4 speed toploader, and dual exhaust with Magnaflows.

I’ve owned this little pony since 2006 and it started out as an original six cylinder car, all original from the first owner. I immediately dove into this car thinking I would just restore it and paint it but no, as I have almost 40 years of building hot rods of all makes and models, I wanted to redo the pony with a different flavor. I did some body mods and wrapped the body in new panels before the Pearl Purple and Black urethane paint was applied. I completely rebuilt the chasis and drivetrain and interior so that the car is an awesome cruiser. I built this car in loving memory of “Big Eddy”, my uncle who has been building hot rods with me for the past 25 years. This feature is dedicated to him.

Mods include a 302 5.0 Ford, 4 speed AOD transmission, all stock interior, all new suspension with Ford Granada disc brakes on front, tied frame with frame connectors, custom tear drop Thunderbolt hood, Shelby front valence, and all built at my shop at home at “Goobers Hot Rod Shop.” Special thanks to Dave Skiptunas over all the years and my master camera man Mark Tibor.

THEN A CHANCE MEETING WITH ANOTHER MUSTANG OWNER CHANGED EVERYTHING.

This is my 2020 GT Mustang “GLFRND” in the color Rapid Red. I bought her new in September 2020. I was completely unaware that she would change my life, nor did I realize that she would become my “new addiction” and be modded as much as she has. Every time I think I have finished, something else would come to mind.

Moving to a new area mid 2020 wasn’t easy as I had no friends and I was single. Then a chance meeting with another Mustang owner changed everything. I just kept making new friends with Mustangs who share the same passion as I do. There is rarely a weekend that goes by where I am not doing something to do with her. Some would even say that I am obsessed. It has been one hell of a ride even to a point where at 60 I am about to have a career change into the Mustang and car customization field!

A couple of the guys had referred to her as my girlfriend. Then one day a custom plate came to me, “GLFRND” and it was available so I snapped it up. It gets comments everywhere I go. As the mods kept going and we upgraded rotors and painted the hubs and calipers. I put GLFRND on the callipers to keep the theme going. Then the custom trim done with Nappa leather came and GLFRND went on the front backrests.

I do track, drags, roll racing and recently did a hill climb event which I’ll do again. At 500 RWHP she’s plenty quick enough for me. Although NOS is on the cards in the new

I owe my love of cars to my grandfather James. When I was younger, he’d take me to the Maryville McDonald’s on certain mornings when his pals were gathering. His friends would bring so many amazing classic vehicles — namely Ford Mustangs — but also El Caminos, Galaxies, Bel Airs — the list goes on and on. They were always so kind and informative. Their passion for cars was infectious. Fast forward to high school when I finally snagged a license. I’m embarrassed to admit my first vehicle was almost a Metallic Teal Camaro. The dealership talked my dad Terry out of it because insurance was a nightmare and tried to push me towards a Dodge Stratus. Luckily, James found a nice used Ford Ranger for me instead. It wasn’t a Mustang, but it led me to love everything Ford to this day.

The next huge moment was when one of my best friends Grant started getting into Preludes. I was so fascinated at the completely different style imports presented, and almost tried to buy one myself, but that plan ended the moment I set foot at my first local car show. A 2003 Mystichrome Cobra pulled in and started revving. It was an eight-cylinder symphony. At that moment my destiny with Mustangs was immediately realigned. In 2010 I finally acquired my first of four. A 2011 Race Red Mustang V6 — the Cyclone engine had just been released. I had no business with 305 horsepower under my lead foot, but I had never felt more alive!

I traded a couple times after that, and finally landed on Mean Green. The moment I saw Grabber Lime in person, I knew it was my favorite color. Not to mention one of my

grandfather’s friends used to pull up in a 1971 Grabber Lime Mach 1 — it was all coming full circle.

I’m extremely lucky to be a part of Smoky Mountain Stangs here in East Tennessee. Thanks to them, I had the honor of going WOT on the Half Mile of Mayhem that is Martinsville Speedway — twice! We’ve also conquered the Devil’s Triangle and several other amazing routes in and around the Smoky Mountains. Mean Green is also driven by my wife Shellie. I will always be grateful for her ability to put up with my excitement for any and everything Mustang. I am also extremely blessed, as my son James (named after his grandfather) has decided his first Mustang will also be green!

This is my 2018 Shelby GT350. Her name is Meena which is an Indian name for blue stone. Also in Bram Stoker’s Dracula it was the girl that Dracula was after all the time. She is tuned by Jon Lund Racing and has a Corsa resonator delete.

I’ve had a 2008 GT500 and two 2008 Shelby GTs over the years that I used to take to tracks around the country. With the price of used cars being what they were over the past couple of years, I decided to get into a Shelby one last time and bought this one. I love it and it’s a blast to drive. No tracking it though. Just love cruising around in it with my Dachshund Millie Jean.

Currently I’m the event photographer for the Terligua Preservation Society which runs the October Terlinga event in memory of Carroll Shelby started by Amy Boylan in 2008. We’re having our 15th Anniversary this year. Anyone interested in going can contact the Terlingua preservation Society.

I PUT A LOT OF TIME AND SWEAT IN THIS SWEET BABY OF MINE...

I always had a passion for Mustangs. When I was 16 I saw this 65 Fastback and knew it had to be mine. I fell in love with this car.

My brother side swiped me leaving the yard one night and had it repaired but they could not match the paint so he repainted the entire car in blue. I drove it for years like this. I dated my wife with this car. I parked it and put it in storage for many years.

I worked hard to save up enough money to restore her. I dismantled the entire car. I had a friend weld in the new panels and another friend that worked in a body shop painted it the original color. I put it back together and

Ever since I saw the first Predator movie in 1987, I was hooked on it. I’ve made my Mustang to show off this film. With hints of lime green to represent the Predator’s blood from combat to their language on it. The theme also follows through on the inside so you are completely surrounded by it.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

I’ve taken him to many car shows and every time people love him. I love when children take an interest in him asking questions about the Predator. It’s taken me a few years to get here but there is definitely a lot more to do. I’ve always had a passion for working on my own cars, but this one has just been the one that I’m finally able to say is show quality. Special thanks to everyone that has helped along the way.

Mods include an upper and lower Cervini grille, MMD front splitter, custom Predator 5.0 badges, custom full stripes, RBG color changing headlights, Airtekk air ride suspension, Katzkin custom interior, EMP rear diffuser and side skirts, Borla ATAK cat back exhaust, and smoked Euro tail lights.

RED 66 –1966 MUSTANG COUPE

A RETIREMENT GIFT...

I bought this Mustang in October of 2015 as a retirement gift to myself after serving for 22 years on Active Duty Air Force. My only stipulation was that the car had no rust, straight body, and excellent paint. The only thing that I haven’t replaced is the glass and body parts, so it’s essentially been gutted and updated to modern components, inside and out.

This last project lasted two years and it was completed in January of 2023 and consisted for a new fuel Injected 347 that makes around 530HP, 5-Speed TKO 600 (Modern Driveline), custom Quick Performance 9’ rearend with 3.89:1 gears in a hardened 35-Spline helical posi. My passion with this car was to build something that was unique to me. All of the wiring is hidden to clean up the engine bay so people don’t have to see clutter, and I did all of the work with the exception of building the motor and fabricating the exhaust.

SHE TURNS NECKS ON A REGULAR...

My brother always had Mustangs and still does. I had to have one, too. I originally bought a new 2013 Grabber Blue GT Premium but she was too common. Then, came Rhonda. She’s different - like me.

She’s my six speed manual 2011 Roush. Originally solid Ingot Silver. Now, painted custom with Gotta Have It Green and Black (inspired by a SEMA). She’s mostly stock - a few cosmetic changes such as chrome in the interior and under the hood, engine cover painted to match and some adjustable coil-overs.

I enjoy taking her on scenic routes, straight highways, and cruise down A1A. We’ve visited several states such as TN, KY, AL, GA and FL together. When we have the opportunity, we love to hit up car shows. She’s won Best Paint, Best of Show, and Before I was Antique to name a few. In 2016, we met Jack Roush and his son, Jack, Jr. Super cool fellow and a moment to remember.

She’s definitely a looker. She turns necks on a regular and sounds mean too.

I grew up in a home where we were no strangers to classic Mustangs. My Dad and brothers spent countless weekends tinkering with my Dad’s 1966 Convertible and 1966 Coupe. My friends all thought they were cool, but to me, they were just something I wasn’t allowed to touch. One day while visiting my big sister at the restoration shop she worked at, I happened across a yellow car with black interior… and this 14 year-old girl was IN LOVE! I had never seen anything like it before! I ran back to the shop and couldn’t contain my excitement as I asked what it was! That’s where it all started… the first time I laid eyes on a Fastback. My Dad laughed so hard as I gushed about that car! He also admitted that he had always wanted one, but was never able to seal a deal on the right one.

Office Manager. Being a young woman in a male-dominated industry isn’t easy, but my Dad raised me to hold my own with my brothers, which prepared me immensely for this challenge. It was at this shop that my brother helped my Dad restore his 1959 Corvette, and my sister helped him restore his 1966 Convertible. I was envious because I wanted the same experience and memories with my father. He taught them so much about the cars that they would one day own and maintain, and that was something that no one could ever take away from them. To my surprise, my Dad finally secured his first Fastback… OUR first Fastback. A beautiful Silver Blue Metallic 1966 Fastback with pony interior. It had its flaws and needed some serious work, but to my Dad and me, it was gorgeous! However, before he and I got a chance to get to work, we were forced to close the doors on Tims’ Rod and Classic.

TONY THE PONY - 1966 MUSTANG FASTBACK SPRINT 200

On my wedding day in 2007, not long after my father had received a terminal cancer diagnosis, he gifted me with the opportunity we didn’t have together, in the only way he could at that stage in his life: he paid to have the Fastback structurally repaired, so at least I could count on it to keep me safe for years to come. Unfortunately, many tragedies befell the car after that, but 14 years later, I was able to start Tony on the path that got him to where he is today. That path has put me in touch with several people that have taught me so much about Mustangs, especially my Tony. The most exciting thing I’ve learned is that, as a 1966 Fastback, with pony interior and the Sprint 200 package, my car is incredibly rare. No official count is recorded of the number built, but according to those that know far more than I about the Sprint 200, only four are known to exist with those options. But, most importantly to me, Tony is back on the road and basking in the sun!

“JUST THE TIP

TURBO VS. SUPERCHARGER

Turbo. You’ll hear people use the term “free power”. This is true. The Turbo is attached to the exhaust of the engine. It’s basically a fan that gets spun by the exhaust gasses passing over it. The other side is attached to the air intake. So as the exhaust is coming out of the engine, it’s spinning the Turbo, which is pulling air in through the intake to blow, or force, it into the cylinder. Pros of this option are Power versus Size. These allow for smaller engines, like

the Eco-boost to produce much more power relative to their size. They are also a higher efficiency as they run off of energy that is typically lost in a NA Engine. Some of the disadvantages of the Turbo is the lag from when you step on the gas, until the Turbo is spinning fast enough from the exhaust, to provide enough boost to increase the horsepower of the engine. Another is that Turbos get very hot since one side of the system is directly in the exhaust stream. Therefore, the bearing between the exhaust and

intake sides of the system gets very hot, and that bearing is lubricated with oil from the engine. Hotter oil means quicker oil breakdown, so oil changes may be needed more frequently under high performance applications.

Supercharger. A Supercharger is a style of forced air induction that is attached to the engine, but has no interaction with the exhaust. It gets its power from the engine itself, by being belt-driven. Just like your power steering pump, alternator, AC, etc. As the belt spins the Supercharger, it turns 2 augers inside of the Supercharger unit, which is pulling air in through the intake to blow, or force,

it into the cylinder. There’s no lag in boost. The biggest disadvantage of this type of system is that it’s not free power. When the engine is not running, none of the belts are moving, as it takes a certain amount of power to turn a pulley. By running the Supercharger, you are robbing power that could be used to power and move the car, just to run the Supercharger itself.

Is one better than the other? Everyone has their opinion. Both have their pros and their cons. If you can’t decide on which route to go, you can actually do both at the same time! It’s called Twin Charging!
