RED HOT Volume 1
HONORING OUR RED MUSTANGS
SPECIAL EDITION
MAGAZINE
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

I WAS ON CLOUD NINE AND BEYOND!
I have all my life loved the sound and rumble of a V8 and have always grown up with friends and relatives that were always in the V8 scene. I love watching NASCAR/Aussie V8 Supercars, especially watching Bathurst 1000. I have always dreamed of one day owning a rally awesome Classic Muscle Car.
Then in August 2012, my dream vehicle came into my life, a Ford 1970 Mach 1 Mustang. You can just imagine the joy. I was on cloud nine and beyond!
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!
I said to my wife, what special registration plate should i get for my pride and joy? To my amazement, she said “why not honor your mother who passed last year” and without hesitation my pride and joy was named “CANDIO.“
That would have to be the happiest day because from that day onwards, whenever I drive by baby, I know that my MUM is always with me.
CANDIO is a 1970 Mach 1 Sports Roof - H CODE equipped with a 351 Clevland - 2V HEADS, FMX Select Shift CruiseO-Matic, color Candy Apple Red, Left Hand Drive, Factory Power Steering, Factory Air Conditioner - Selectair, 17” x 8” Turque Thrust Alloys, and built in San Jose, California. I am the first time registered owner in Australia.
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

I’VE BEEN BLESSED WITH IT...
My first car came when I graduated high school in 1973. It was a 1961 Mach 1 Mustang. It had 351W and was Maroon, and automatic, but it was totaled in early ‘82. Years later, I got the itch again for another Mustang. I searched the internet, locally and far. Sometimes too far. One Sunday night my best friend called and told me of a 1970 Mach 1 on Ebay. The car was in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I called the gentleman at S&S Automotive and we made arrangements to see the car. I was amazed to see the Mach 1 was the color I intended to paint whichever car I found. Candy Red, beautiful, we agreed on the price and away we went. Since I purchased the car, I have added all new chrome, interior console, fold down rear seat, power front disc brakes, rewired the engine compartment, all new suspen -

sion, changed the transmission from a FMX automatic to a factory correct Top Loader close ratio 4-speed. Also new Detroit Locker rear end with 3:55 gears, year correct Panasonic 8 track AM/FM stereo, and engine dress up. I later found out that the color is House of Color, Candy Brandy Wine. I have been blessed by the show wins, but the best compliments I have received about my Mustang came in March of 2022 at #PITS (Ponies in the Smokies), when the car was selected for the Elite 5 out of 1200 Mustangs. Then the following year, #PITS 2023 was asked to represent the 1970 year for the 60 years of Mustangs. I’ve been blessed with it, but still a work in progress.

WHEN MY SON SAW IT, HE SAID IT LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A COMIC BOOK...
This is DEADPOOL, a 2006 Mustang GT 4.6 3V equipped with Roush supercharger, Ford Performance hot rod cams, Cervini body kit, Cervini exhaust, and Foose wheels.
I have always tinkered with cars but not initially by choice. My first car was a 67 Cougar I purchased for $1200 and had to learn to fix it right out of the gate. Flash forward a life time and I was 49 and decided to sell five Mustangs I had acquired over the years in various stages of disrepair to get one that I could at least drive. Covid hit and my search started and that’s when I found DEADPOOL. After eight

months of searching it was mine. I really don’t like red cars and was going to paint it black as soon as I got home but when my son saw it, he said that it looked like something out of a comic book and Deadpool was born. I decided to change out all badging to Deadpool and some day will hopefully get Ryan Reynolds to sign my dash, but until then I will have to live with a purchased ebay signature. I still have my Cougar. Maybe I will start on it next.

Maximum Effort is my fourth Mustang. I started with Kreninstine, an 05 S197 five speed in Silver that I bought from the bank repo lot. I spent a year getting it back into great condition, life was good. Then the evil designers at Ford came out with the S550. I was hypnotized and purchased Gargoyle, the first 2015 GT six speed in Guard Green to hit the lot. A few years later I traded up for Storm Bringer, a 2017 six speed Magnetic Gray GT with the Performance Package.
Life happens and I was struck down with a debilitating illness that left me unable to walk without assistance or drive a standard safely, but I wanted to stay with a Mustang. I

IT HAS WOVEN ITSELF INTO THE FABRIC OF OUR FAMILY...
We purchased Ol Shel in August of 1988 in Mitchell, South Dakota and drove it back to Wisconsin. We almost immediately started the 16 month restoration. The paint you see in these pictures is stage DuPont Centari and still presents well.

We have a full Marti Report that proves this was a Hertz Rental Car sold to them immediately after delivery to Pletcher Ford in Plenkington, Pennsylvania. It is powered by a 351W with automatic transmission and 3:00 rear gear as to Hertz specs.
Taking Ol Shel for a ride through the country is like a shot of adrenaline. It has woven itself into the fabric of our family and most likely will be passed down through my children and grandsons.

I ALWAYS PICKED MUSTANGS OVER ANY OTHER CAR AS A KID.
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!
I purchased this one in mid 2021 with 25k miles. This is my third Mustang. My first was a 2005 V6 manual in Mineral Gray with black accents. My second was my 2011 GT Kona Blue with white stripes. My S550 is a 2017 GT/CS in Ruby Red.

I have always loved Mustangs since I was a child. My step father had a 65, 67, and 76 Mustang. I instantly fell in love with the horse. I always picked Mustangs over any other car as a kid. ”They could beat anything!” I would say.
Now that I am older and a father of two Mustang fanatic children (15 and 4), I love seeing the excitement from them making a fuss to see another fellow Stang family member while cruising. Soon my son will be 18 and get “Red”, my GT/CS in a few years and he’s ready.

“Side Piece” took birth as a 2019 Premium GT Mustang Race Red and very stock… until I took possession in 2021. With 26,000 miles on it and looking plain and ordinary, my goal was to change her and have her stand out and that we did. I started out with a American Muscle catalog and purchased a few items such as the MP Concepts rear quarter window covers, Scott Drake rear deck spoiler, and Redline hood struts. Now I was hooked and went to my first Mustang Week. I came back overwhelmed by all the nice rides and all the information I gathered (I was gonna need more mods to stand out). Once home, I started doing research on different power adders and supporting mods and I landed on Odin from VMP Performance. Their staff were

top notch from the moment I talked to them, from research all the way to install and tuning. Next came the Steeda suspension upgrades to handle the power. While waiting for parts and installation, Side Piece was stripped of her boring front end and a new Shelby Super Snake hood was added along with some GT350 fenders and a Mach 1 bumper/ grille combination added. Then to top it off the Shelby 20 inch rims were added along with the bumper to bumper stripes to make Side Piece a totally unique and different car.

I come from a family that loves cars. Fords (especially Mustangs), and racing were a cornerstone growing up. I credit my dad and his brother for instilling this love of cars in me. My dad raced modified and late model stock cars. He was one of only a few racing a Ford engine. My uncle was the Mustang guy. While I was growing up over the years, he owned a 1969 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet, a 1969 Boss 429, and a 1970 Boss 302. He unfortunately doesn’t own any of these cars anymore, but he does still have a 1966 Mustang coupe in his garage.
I always dreamt of one day owning a Mustang too and have now had the privilege of owning three Mustangs, a Laser Red 2000 V6, a black 2008 V6 convertible and my current

I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY AS A FAMILY HEIRLOOM FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE TO KEEP THE MUSTANG LEGACY ALIVE.
My Mustang was built early 1964, on may 19th, 1964 is when my car was built to be exact. It is nothing fancy. It is just the bare bones 170 c4 auto.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. I purchased my Mustang about five years ago. I was looking for something that I could get in and just drive whereever and have no issues. I previously just sold my 67 Chevelle SS that had a built 427 roller motor in it. I came across this Mustang on my local Facebook market place for sale. The oringal owner’s health was getting bad so his daughter was selling it for him. I went to go look at it and after negotiations were made, I owned my first Mustang.
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.
I enjoy showing the Mustang at local shows and events and also like hearing the stories of others that have had these cars. I try to teach my kids the value of these cars and my daugther has expressed interest in the car so she will be the next caretaker. I would like to keep it in the family as a family heirloom for as long as possible to keep the Musttang legacy alive.

My Mustang passion started years ago when my dad purchased a 1966 Mustang. I absolutely fell in love with that car. I have owned several over the years. I currently own this 2013 V6 Premium and also a 2021 GT Premium. I bought Vixen several years ago and drive her daily. She has roughly 124,000 miles and still going. She had Ford racing exhaust when we purchased her. We have really done mostly exterior mods to include tint, RTR front chin spoiler, Roush side rocker panel splitters and rear side splitters, and Powerstop Z26 Street Warrior brakes.
When I started on this Mustang journey I never realized the amount of people I would meet and become friends with.
From Smoky Mountain Mustang Invasion, Mustang Week and of course Ponies in the Smokies, I have met people from multiple states and joined several Mustang clubs in several states. I just love the friendships that are formed because of a passion that we all have. It’s great to have a community to ask questions and learn more about these machines that we all love. Growing up, my father had seven Ford Mustangs ranging in years from 1994-1999. The love he had for Mustangs started this tradition. We went to many car shows together while I was growing up but something about the Mustang always drew me in the most. In 2003, my parents gifted me my first Mustang, a 1996 yellow V6. I ended up selling it in 2012. It was a brief end of a tradition for me.
In 2019, my wife bought me my current 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1. One of the first things I did was take a cruise in one of our local cities. At the end of the night another 2003

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.
Mach 1 pulled into the lot we were parked and starting talking. We became friends after that and he even made the custom skirts and diffuser for my Mach 1. He and a few other friends created our car club and it’s grown into the best group of people I could ask for. The best parts of summer are meeting at car shows, talking, eating and joking around.
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!
Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!
The people I have met because of a car has changed my life for the better. I will always be grateful to my Dad for starting this tradition of my love of the Ford Mustang.
