THE ADVENTURE MAGAZINE SEMA 2023 LAS VEGAS SPECIAL EDITION

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! - Daniel Ramey, Editor-In-Chief

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

REVOLT SYSTEMS AIMED TO PUSH THE BOUNDARIES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY...

Since visiting SEMA in 2022 representing STANG Magazine, I became fascinated with custom car builds and was really looking forward to the reveals this year. I couldn’t wait to see all the Mustangs with all the different customizations on display.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

Among the awe-inspiring custom builds, the Revolt Systems All-Electric 1965 Ford Mustang stood out as a testament to innovation and modernization. This electric marvel defied convention, proving that you don’t need a classic 289 V8 to exude coolness and deliver an exhilarating driving experience.

Revolt Systems invested two and a half years in the meticulous transformation of this classic pony into a powerful electric beauty. The centerpiece of this masterpiece is the CR-43 electric crate motor, a creation of Revolt Systems, generating an impressive 600 horsepower. This not only demonstrates the brand’s prowess in electric motor design but also showcases the potential for electrifying classic cars without compromising on performance.

Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!

The vision behind this project was not just about converting a classic Mustang into an electric vehicle; it was a bold move to create a unique proof of concept. Revolt Systems aimed to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and the result is a stunning blend of classic aesthetics and cutting-edge electric power.

The exterior design maintains the iconic 1965 Ford Mustang silhouette, capturing the essence of the original while embracing the future. The sleek lines and carefully integrated electric components highlight the attention to detail in this electrifying transformation. The classic appeal of the Mustang is retained, but under the hood, it’s a powerhouse of sustainable, emission-free performance.

Revolt Systems expressed their vision, stating, “Our goal was to build a very special car to test our motor systems and have proof of concept.” The journey from a classic muscle car to a potent electric vehicle was not just a conversion; it was a meticulous process that resulted in a powerful and visually stunning electric pony.

In a show filled with high-performance gasoline engines and unconventional builds, the Revolt Systems All-Electric 1965 Ford Mustang stood as a symbol of the automotive industry’s evolution towards electrification, proving that the future of custom cars can be both powerful and environmentally conscious.

ONE OF THE BEST OF THE BEST ON DISPLAY AT THE SEMA 2023 SHOW.

The SEMA Show of Las Vegas, Nevada is notorious and infamous for having the best of the best in modern muscle. Well, let’s just say they never forget about classic muscle either and ways to upgrade history with modern technology.

Ironworks Speed & Kustom did just that with their 1967 Mustang. This beauty was immaculate from top to bottom and sported a wicked supercharger under the hood. From the gold wheels lined with chrome to the customized all red interior, this American muscle beast was fast just sitting pretty in her booth. I would have given a million bucks just to sit in the cockpit and mess with all the toggle switches like I was a jet fighter pilot getting ready for flight.

The vehicle, called DS-500R, is owned by Danny Shaffer. Ironworks used a combination of CAD design, machined parts, and 3D printed parts with old school fabrication techniques to add a custom hood scoop, front valance vents, spoiler and honeycomb grille. They gave the front a distinct look with wider fender flares, custom EVOD wheels and low-profile Michelin tires, and quadruple exhaust tips fitted to a custom rear lower valence.

THE TALENT REQUIRED TO ALL BE POSITIONED CORRECTLY IS UNREAL...

The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

Watching the Vaughn Gittin Jr. Mustang drift team demo was one of the greatest experiences for me at SEMA 2023, especially being front and center and being able to smell all that rubber burning!

The drift team demos are always amazing and impressive, no matter where you get to see them, even just from watching videos on social media. What’s best at SEMA though is that people can ride along with Vaughn Gittin Jr. as he drifts his Mustang all over the tiny lot. It’s pretty sketchy how close he gets the Mustang’s back end to the wall without touching it. What is even more impressive is doing it with multiple cars running side by side. Oh yeah, some were three Mustangs wide! The talent required to all be positioned correctly is unreal, not to mention the timing of the turns.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. BY FAR, SHE WAS THE BEST OF THE BEST MUSTANG AT THE 2023 SEMA SHOW!

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

Attending any SEMA Show, it is almost impossible to pick out your “favorite” build because you usually end up with anywhere from three to five vehicles that just stand out in their own right and are the best of the best in your mind. Over the years, I have learned that if you continue to visit one particular booth for consecutive days, it is more than likely one of your favorite builds. Well, this year for the SEMA 2023 Show, one of my favorite builds was “Rampant” produced by East Bay Muscle.

This Mustang was something that James Bond would drool over. Taking a Classic Mustang and retrofitting it with stealth, power, finesse, and the smoothest of curves and features, East Bay Muscle went above and beyond to steal the hearts of any true Mustang enthusiast. In my humble opinion, this was one of the best Mustang builds that I have ever had the pleasure to witness at any SEMA Show in history!

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. According to my research, everything about this car was built custom, even the frame. It is no wonder it was nicknamed the “million dollar” Mustang. Pretty sure there is some truth in that price tag! By far, she was the BEST OF THE BEST Mustang at the 2023 SEMA Show!

It is a 1968 Ford Mustang and won the Goodguys Gold award, the Glasurit Peoples Choice award, and a top-5 “Best on RS” award from Roadster Shop. It is powered by a 780+ horsepower Edelbrock supercharged Gen 2 Coyote V8 and rides on a Roadster Shop Fast Track chassis, Baer brakes, Toyo Proxes Sport tires, the Forgeline Flush-Loc centerlock conversion (with

IF YOU EVER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO, DEFINITELY DO IT.

This was my second year attending the SEMA show for STANG Magazine and I was just as excited as last year. I immediately went inside to pick up my media credentials and headed into the show. I had a plan mapped out so I would be able to see everything. I entered the first building and started looking at the amazing car builds and the new aftermarket parts and ended up off course. I saw a beautiful car off to the right so I walked over to see it instead of following my plan then there was another and another. I was all over. It’s so easy to get lost and wander all over the place with so much to see. Besides all of the car builds to see, you also have people and businesses from every corner of the global aftermarket stage.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. After spending hours in just amazement, I saw a Mustang that caught my eye. It was a 1968 named Rampant, built by East Bay Muscle. The color was layers of Burgundy and Dark Bronze Glasurit paint that looked amazing. The body had the classic style look even with a full carbon fiber nose piece that was designed with CAD and the LED headlights fit in seamlessly. It also had a fiberglass hood with a hand fabricated aluminum 3D printed under the hood panel.

Under the hood, it was equipped with a powerful engine that ensures exhilarating performance and it delivers 785

To enhance driving dynamics, it has upgraded suspension components and high-performance brakes. This ensures precise handling and responsive braking for a thrilling driving experience. Additionally, advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist may also be included for increased safety. This car is also equipped with a fire suppression system from Safecraft and modern air conditioning by Vintage Air.

When I went outside to see all the trucks and cars, I was still amazed by how many there were to look at. I passed a red Shelby GT 500 and loved the color. After walking around outside I passed the red Shelby again and it looked totally different since the sun was in a different direction. At first, I thought it was wrapped but I found out it was painted by Magic Man in Riverside California. ONE OF MY TOP PICKS FOR THE SEMA 2023 SHOW.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

The SEMA 2023 Show was amazing every single day. It has been a few years since I felt my face hurting from not being able to stop smiling. With every turn, there was another amazing build. This year was one of the best years for a variety of years, makes, and models. The show wasn’t heavy in any particular type of vehicle and all auto enthusiasts would agree, this year’s show was done right!

Every single car that was there was above and beyond. I did have my favorites however and the “Ruffian” Mustang was one of my absolute favorite picks! This machine just screamed old school Shelby. I had the urge to grab this thing and start an adventure through Europe. It just reminded me of a Shelby Roadster. That was the idea according to the builders Ruffian Cars.

According to Ruffian Cars, the FIA 1968 Fastback was designed as a “gentleman’s racer” and was heavily inspired by the amazing Shelby FIA Cobras that raced in Europe.

They started with an original, clean California car, stripped it down to bare metal and rebuilt it to the owner’s specs. The only aftermarket panels used were their own lightweight carbon parts.

Their SEMA demo car was powered by a 500 hp, 364ci lightweight aluminum small block Shelby motor backed by a TKX 5-speed. The 3.5” side pipes call back to that instantly recognizable Trans Am era race car sound.

It had beautiful hand shaped fender flares that widened the car by five inches, covering rear centerlock Shelby wheels

at all four corners that were wrapped in 275 and 295/50/15 series Avon radial tires.

It had removable “floating” head rests. The horn button was from a vintage arcade machine, a nod to one of the builders’ career as a video game designer, and the beautiful pistol grip shifter and ebrake lever was hand made by a knife maker.

The car looked like a dream. Comfortable, simple, fast and smooth. One of my absolute top picks for the SEMA 2023 Show.

THE “WOW” FACTOR OF SEMA NEVER SEEMS TO FADE AWAY...

SEMA – YEAR F.O.U.R.

R is for remarkable

This year, like all the others, had no room to disappoint; although the layout was different and not as many vendors – it was nice to explore and not be shoulder to shoulder with other people. There was a solid mix of all types of cars, trucks and bikes – all different kinds of colors, makes and models. Some built motors, some stock.

Two cars caught my attention, one of course being a Mustang and another being a Chevy Impala SS. This specific Mustang belonged to a woman named Katrina Dyork and although I didn’t get to personally meet her, her car was pretty badassy. Mixed with red, sliver, chrome, black and gold signifying Iron Man this car DEFINITELY sat out from all the rest. With multiple modifications and gold chrome wheels it was a favorite of mine!

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. The ”WOW” factor of SEMA never seems to fade away or become non-existent. When you step into the doors of the next latest and greatest or meet drifters or just people watch on how people interact with like-minded people, it brings a sense of warmness over you. You know your in the right space, to freely explore, ask as many questions as you’d like and take as many pictures as your heart desires.

PULLED BACK THE COVER TO REVEAL THE 2024 SHELBY F-250 SUPER BAJA.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

Wednesday, November 1, 2023 was this year’s Shelby SEMA party, held at the Shelby American headquarters in Las Vegas. It was a very short presentation this year and more of a mingling type event. Just some rubbing shoulders with the people who make Shelby what it is today. Everyone was talking about what could be under the black fabric cover. We could all tell it was a truck. A beefy, lifted truck even. At 8:40 pm the wait was over as Vince LaViolette (Vice President) and Gary Patterson (President) pulled back the cover to reveal the 2024 Shelby F-250 Super Baja. They take the base Lariat Ultimate 4x4 Ford Super Duty and created this beast.

Here are the stats - 6.7 Liter power stroke V8 turbo diesel providing 1,050 lbs of torque at 1,600 RPM and 475 hp at 2,600 RPM, and Shelby by FOX suspension system which includes adjustable upper control arms, custom BDS lift system, FOX 2.0 dual steering stabilizer, front coil overs with FOX 2.5 adjustable reservoirs, front 2.5 FOX back up adjustable reservoir shocks, rear 2.5 FOX factory race adjustable shocks with piggyback reservoirs, 18” custom wheels, and BFG KM3 37” tires.

The exterior sports beefy steel front and rear bumpers which are powder coated black with tow points and air vents. It also has a 40” curved led light bar and 11.75” led drive lights for when you lose track of time and are heading back in the dark. You can feel at ease with the two spare wheel and tire mounts in the bed and the retractable side steps that turn into rock slides in the closed position are a combination of ease and protection. The starting MSRP for this is a little over $125,000. A hefty price to pay, but seems right in line with today’s market.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

The suspension system is what really makes the truck live up to the BAJA name. Shelby also tweaks the interior to make it their own with full leather seat covers, carbon fiber interior, stainless steal gauges, billet racing pedals, and CSM serialized badging. YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU MIGHT COME ACROSS.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

SEMA is always the most anticipated show of the year for myself and for the Las Vegas Convention Center as a venue. There are five different halls covering everything for performance, tools, off-road, racing, and products for the new electric vehicles. The new aftermarket technology for the automotive industry is always changing and this gives me an insider’s view of what’s coming up. I also look for upgrade ideas for my Mustang. You just never know what you might come across.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. This year we took advantage of the convention center loop. A set of tunnels that can transport you from one convention hall to another in just a few minutes. An example of the walk time between the West Hall to the existing North/Central Hall can take up to 25 minutes. The same trip on the loop takes a couple of minutes. We were traveling between the different halls with ease. And not to mention at the end of the day to the west hall to catch our Uber back to the Airbnb. The tunnels are a sight to see. They are all lit up with different colored lights. The Teslas which take you from one side to the other, have a cool feature inside them. Inside the Tesla, on the dashboard there is a projecting rear-view monitor that you can watch during the ride. The underground station is lit up with neon lights, befitting Las Vegas. The Teslas are nice cars and the drivers were awesome (no hating please). Some of the drivers were just flying through the tunnels. Personally, I would be a bit claustrophobic driving through the tunnels.

It seemed like one of the themes for the show this year was focusing on electric vehicles. As an up-and-coming market,

there is a lot of potential to make money in the EV world. You had the usual people there selling items like sound boxes to give the EV the sound of a classic muscle car. Ford was there to show off a couple of their new EVs. They had the new off road inspired Mustang Mach-E Rally and the 2024 F-150 Lightning Platinum Black truck. The truck looked good with a Matte Black finish. Ford Performance was there to showcase the wheel wall and the new line of accessories for EVs including new charging stations for the home. There were also converted classics there. Some of the old muscle cars like Mustangs and Camaros were gutted, and electric motors were placed in them. But you name it, if it had four wheels and a gas engine at one time, it was converted to an EV. But these cars were for show mainly. The paint was too nice to be driven on a cruise where you might pick up a chip or two.

Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!

SEMA 2023 - LAS VEGAS

One of the halls we visited was for everything off-road. This hall was an incredible site to see. All the big automotive manufacturers were there. People like Jeep, Toyota, Lexus, and Nissan were there showing off their off-road vehicles. Any kind of accessory you could think of was there. Some awesome rims, lift kits, wheel stabilizers and performance shocks. Thery also had camping gear that was attached to the car. Some cool tents that would be fixed on the roof of the vehicle. We found that we had a cousin there selling bed liners for trucks. That seemed to be a big item there this year. A lot of bed liners and floor liners for the different trucks.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquir ing this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

My favorite area was Shelby Legendary Cars. They always put on a good display of the classic AC Cobras and the Legendary GT40s. The Shelby Cobra will go down in history as a true classic car. The car in its day was the standard that other auto manufacturers tried to build too. Little known facts about the original AC Cobras were that the first two were called AC ACE. Ford had provided them with a small Windsor 3.6-litre (221 cu in) engine. This was a new lightweight, thin-wall cast small-block V8. The Cobra Mark 1 had two different engines, a 4.3l (260 cu in) which were placed in the first 75 cars and the 4.7 L (289 cu in) which were placed in the remaining 51 cars. The Cobra Mark 2 had the legendary 4.7 L (289 cu in) V8, and the Cobra Mark 3 came along with my favorite all time motor, the 7.0 L (427 cu in) FE engine equipped with a single 4-barrel 780 CFM Holley carburetor. This motor you have to experience to

really appreciate it. But they will just have to be a dream car for the time being, unless I win the lottery. You will know when I do. Looking forward to next year!

SEMA 2023 - LAS VEGAS

HATS OFF SEMA, YOU DID IT AGAIN...

The biggest story coming out of SEMA this year was that some of the big manufacturers wouldn’t be there. I can only imagine the scrambling that was happening behind the scenes trying to get the booths filled and ensure that this would be another amazing year. I must say, the SEMA Team didn’t disappoint!

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

This year the Convention Center and surrounding area was filled with amazing builds, from one of the cleanest Lincoln Convertible with suicide doors that I’d ever seen to a number of lifted trucks that had so much detail (minus the Bluetooth driveshafts LOL) from the hand painted bolt heads to chromed out roll bars with one of a kind interiors that could be described as CRAZY! All of this surrounding the convention center and again I could not wait to see what they kept inside.

As we stroll in like VIPs to grab our credentials, I’m instantly thrown back to my teenage years as there is a 2 door Lincoln Continental Mark V right next to the escalator. Why does this specific car throw me back you ask, that’s simple ... it was my first car, the one I took my driving test in, the nights running around in Phoenix with my friends, prom night, and the list of firsts that happened with that car goes on and on (wink wink).

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. (Ryan Martin, Jeff Lutz, Jeff’s son, and Javier). I instantly hand my phone to Dan and tell him he has to record this as I walk up and introduce myself. They were great, hand shakes, how are you doing ,and thanks for being a fan they responded as I’m sure I looked like a total dork with a giant cheesy smile.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

Now back to the manufacturers pulling out and not being there, I personally wasn’t upset. It opened more booths for builders and not just the huge guys like Chip Foose (my favorite) but YouTube builders that we see and follow. Some of the most unique builders (Mustang S550 with a Cummins) who took the time with anybody who would stop, look, and listen made this year great in my eyes! Hats off SEMA, you did it again which will always keep me excited to see what comes this year and the years that follow!

Now with credentials in hand, I’m off again to see everything possible and of course one of the first cars I see is someone’s vision of an Eleanor sitting next to my favorite body style C Series Chevy! Now, just when you think this can’t get any better for me, in the distance I see a group of people standing in a circle next to a yellow modern GTO. Instantly I smile as it’s the group of racers I watch every week on the Discovery Channel’s show Street Outlaws

THIS MUSTANG HAS A SEMA HISTORY...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

Every build has a story. Well, this particular Mustang has a SEMA history and it all started in 2016. The CTEK team along with Chris Marechel from Timeless Kustoms, unveiled the long-awaited “Vicious 2.0.”

The vehicle has been in reconstruction since it was hit by a truck following its SEMA Show debut in 2016. It has been kept under wraps until its reveal at the 2023 SEMA Show in the CTEK booth. This 1000 horsepower “Vicious” 1965 Mustang Fastback was an amazing machine to look at and learn about.

With the classic style, race interior, and wide body, it was no wonder it drew a crowd daily. It had a well balanced combination of history, technology, and modern street performance. Compared to the other Mustangs that took the spotlight at the 2023 SEMA Show, this Mustang came with a purpose to reshine and remember. It had a story to tell and this pony was a returning champion build. From its first debut in 2016 to its return in 2023, Vicious has been waiting to show the world how all Mustangs can be reinvented to meet modern demands, requests, and expectations!
