rom this year on, all the participants of the fairs organised by the Poznań International Fair (MTP) may take advantage of the mobile version of its internet service. Additionally, every visitor to the grounds of MTP is offered a free access to m.mtp.pl via a WiFi network. Mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets are more and more popular on the Polish market. The research conducted by MTP shows that 70% of the fair clients have mobile phones enabling them to use the m.mtp.pl website. It is for them that MTP has created a new service. It was based on the assumption that information the visitor needs should be easily accessible for him or her, before and after the exhibition, but first of all during the time of his or her stay at the fair. ”Therefore we have decided that a phone can be a great tool, better than an information point or a leaflet given at the cash desk”, says Krzysztof Ślatała, Manager of MTP IT Department. “Our aim, apart from facilitating visiting the exhibition by providing access to the profiled information, was the user’s convenience, i.e. the immediate and free access to the information through an efficient Wi-Fi network.” This comfort of work with the system is ensured by the attention to detail, in particular the efficiency of information searching processes and the readability of the presented content, which is limited to the most useful information: – the programme of events – the catalogue of the exhibitors – the admission prices and rules – the maps of the exhibition – current issues. Already the first version of m.mtp.pl included a new functionality: textual searching for events, independent from their chronology. In the case of the exhibitions abounding in a large number of conferences and seminars, finding the right event was sometimes difficult. The latest version of the service makes searching for the events even easier, as it enables the user to enter a query consisting of only a part of the event’s name, not only the whole title. “We are already planning further development of m.mtp.pl. The map of the area currently shows only exhibition halls in which a given event takes place (marked with colours). We are planning to show the arrangement of stands in the exhibition halls after choosing one of halls”, explains Krzysztof Ślatała.

Manager of LOOK and beautyVISION
The last year’s exposition prepared by 210 exhibitors attracted as many as 16.5 thousand visitors.
Spring at LOOK and beautyVISION Although March days in Poland are often not as warm and sunny as we might wish, the Poznań exposition halls will revive your faith in the quick arrival of spring. It will be fun and colourful: amazing hairstyles, shocking styling, bold make-ups and crazy nail paintings. All of this is going to await the trade fair guests – not only professionals but all those seeking new trends and inspirations to change their image. See new trends The LOOK Hairdressing Forum is a trade fair for true professionals. Every year, it features the latest offers of hair colouring, styling, and care products, hair extension techniques and wigs; it is also a place where you can compare the offers of manufacturers and distributors of modern equipment and furnishing for hairdressing salons. But the LOOK Hairdressing Forum has become famous in the industry also thanks to bold shows presenting the latest trends, surprising not only in terms of form but also the diversity and intensity of colours. The creativity and unpredictability of the exhibitors bring amazing results. Original and surprising hair-styles and often daring hair-cuts arouse admiration among the trade fair guests. In Poznań you can familia-

rise yourself with innovative world trends in modelling and hair-cuts, and see what colours will be fashionable in the upcoming season. The beautyVISION Forum is a comprehensive offer addressed to the owners of solaria and beauty salons, experts in make-up and cosmetics and all those interested in the current trends in make-up and body care. It is also an excellent place to familiarise yourself with new technical solutions in nail painting or with the latest make-up trends. The visitors will be able to learn about the leading trends for the upcoming season, see new cosmetic products which have only just entered the market, learn about how they work and what results they bring, and see unique make-ups.
It has already become a tradition that at the start of spring the representatives of the whole hairdressing and cosmetic industry meet in Poznań at LOOK and beautyVISION – a place where the latest trends emerge and where crowds of visitors come to meet worldclass stars, see amazing shows and market novelties or take part in professional training courses. I observe the constant development of our fairs and I can see that every year moves us one step forward. The LOOK and beautyVISION fairs are strengthening their position as the most important events for the hairdressing and cosmetic industry in Poland. Even today, looking at this year’s programme of events, I can say that also this edition will be successful. It has become a rule that the fair is visited by masters and great authorities of the industry and so it will be also this year. I am very happy about the continuous development of this part of the fair that is devoted to professional hairdressing and cosmetic training courses. The fair becomes a must be place for all those who wish to develop their professional skills. Feel warmly invited.
The star of this year’s beautyVISION is going to be Vincent de Monfreid, Make Up Artist and stylist cooperating with the French Make-Up Atelier Paris brand.
Shows on main stage In the middle of the trade fair the Main Stage is to be located on which for two days you will be able to see special shows, often compared to theatrical performances. Among the participants in the event there are going to be true masters, young artists and world-class stylists. The star of this year’s LOOK is going to be Stacey Broughton – one of the most respected British educators, who taught such famous hairdressers as Takka, Lisa Shepperd and Akina Konzi – the Hairdresser of the Year 2008 and 2009 in Great Britain. After many years of teaching he has finally returned to work as a hairdresser himself in order

Professionals looking for ideas for new forms of advertising and eager to see new trends, spectacular expositions, workshops you will never find at other events – all this can be found at the EURO-REKLAMA International Fair of Advertising Goods and Services. The recommendation granted to the Fair by the Polish Outdoor Advertising Chamber of Commerce (PIGRZ), the International Advertising Association IAA in Poland and the Polish Chamber of Promotional Items (PIAP) proves the significance of the event and emphasizes its position on the market.
Attractive new products This year at EURO-REKLAMA, 200 companies are to present their offers on the area of 3500 sq m. They are going to show a wide range of promotional and advertising items, various advertising mediums, POS realisations, LED screens, machines and materials for the production of advertisements, as well as everything connected with large and small format advertising printing. ”EURO-REKLAMA is for all the exhibitors a unique place, where they can meet clients and business partners, as well as a wonderful opportunity to make new and valuable business contacts. It is a unique occasion which integrates the whole advertising and business creation industry”, says Piotr Kamiński, Manager of the Fair.
As every year, EURO-REKLAMA is an opportunity to see new products and technologies which have just entered the out-of-home media market and novelties in the sector of advertising mediums and items. The exposition is divided into two thematic exhibitions: the Salon Visual Expo and the Digital Printing Expo. The Salon Visual Expo gathers businesses offering promotional and advertising items, POS, advertising services, machines and materials used for the production of advertisements and advertising mediums. The Digital Printing Expo, on the other, hand, features offers related to advertising printing: small and large format printing, print finishing equipment, materials and accessories, as well as companies offering printing services.
In 2011 within four days more than 12 thousand professionals visited the exposition of nearly 400 exhibitors of EURO-REKLAMA and POLIGRAFIA, which were held at the same time. The MTP grounds turned into a centre of cuttingedge advertising and printing solutions.

What aroused great emotions among competitors, organisers, the public and the media was the 2nd Car Wrap Championship organised by the European Media Group and the Poznań International Fair (MTP).

Apart from their business side, the Fair has also a different face. This year, the third edition of the Car Wrap Championship is to be held. It is organised by the European Media Group, the publisher of the “Visual Communication” monthly and the Poznań International Fair (MTP). It is the only project of this kind in Poland. It combines presentation, promotion and education. You will be able to see the best car wrappers at work, ask them to reveal some of the secrets of their techniques and choice of materials. The competition is to take place in a tried and tested form, in three categories: applying own materials, applying materials provided by the competition organisers and Freestyle. For the seventh time, EURO-REKLAMA will become the venue for granting the SuperStar awards for POS constructions which will win an international competition divided into eight categories. For the last 20 years EUROREKLAMA has been a special meeting place for business partners, offering an opportunity to make new, valuable business contacts.
Why trade fair
Why the world of advertising, which is to a large extent such a digitalised reality, is still so interested in trade fairs? Every year thousands of professionals in various ways related to producing, selling and purchasing of advertising products and services come to Poznań. Among them there are representatives of advertising and BTL agencies, employees of marketing and advertising departments in companies operating in all kinds of industries, representatives of local self-governments – departments of promotion of cities, communes, districts, regional tourist organisations, promotion offices of
political parties, representatives of network clients, employees of graphic studios and printing houses. This list could easily be longer. All those who come to the Fair are people making decisions about purchases or people who can influence such decisions: directors and project managers. “The Fair gives an excellent opportunity to make business relationships face-to-face. It is a paradox, but now that communication has become so easy, such opportunities are rare. That is why they are so valuable”, says Piotr Kamiński. “From the perspective of the companies presenting themselves at the Fair, the situation looks similar.” The internet is not able to replace direct presentations of products and cannot give such clear correlation between the product and the brand, while this is actually the main aim of marketing and promotion. by Dorota Krawczak
by the “Display” magazine, will be available to see in the Fair exhibition hall for the whole time of the Fair.
Digital printing from A to Z On the first and the second day of the Fair, the editorial board of the “Świat DRUKU” journal, in cooperation with the Poznań International Fair (MTP), invite for the “Digital printing from A to Z” workshops. During the workshops, professionals providing equipment, materials, software for digital printing, representatives of printing houses and advertising agencies, as well as their clients will be able to discuss problems they encounter in their work. The subjects of the workshops include both small and large format printing in its all kinds: printing of folders and brochures, catalogues, leaflets, posters and banners, packaging and labels, envelopes, POS materials, car wrapping film, textile printing and promotional items. Another important theme is to be the customisation of printing, which makes it possible to significantly increase the efficiency of marketing and advertising message. There are also going to be live shows with modern printers and experts who will answer even the most difficult questions.
30-31.03.2012 12th Poznań Optical Exhibition
Spring meeting of optical industry Organised jointly by the Poznań-based Interregional Craft Guild of Opticians and the Poznań International Fair (MTP), the Poznań Optical Exhibition is a unique place where opticians, optometrists and other professions related to the optical sector can meet and make valuable contacts. This year we are expecting nearly 70 companies, including manufacturers, importers and distributors of a rich offer of products. The Exhibition will feature not only eyeglass frames but also contact lenses and care products, optical instruments, materials and devices, aids for the visually impaired and protective and specialised glasses. The exhibitors will showcase the latest trends in regular eyeglass frames and in sunglass frames, as well as the most technologically advanced equipment and devices for optical shops. All the interested professionals in the optical field are warmly invited to come to Poznań!

Cutting-edge solutions at the fair For years now, the DREMA and FURNICA Fairs have been strengthening their position as Europe’s leading trade events for those interested in enhancing their businesses with the latest solutions and technologies. And these are Poznań’s speciality. The previous edition attracted 780 companies from 18 countries (Austria, Belgium, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Kenya, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA, the UK), which on 30,000 sq m exhibited their newest products for the wood and furniture industries. The exhibited machines, tools, components, and services were thoroughly inspected by over 24 thousand professionals.
Wide offer on display Held under the auspices of EUMABOIS, the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers, Poznań’s DREMA Fair is now a fixed date in the calendar of specialist fair events for both large and small businesses from the wood and furniture industries. DREMA owes its leading international position, among other things, to the participation of Poland’s and the world’s top manufacturers and suppliers providing goods and services for various sectors of the wood and furniture industries. Both DREMA and FURNICA are held under the honorary auspices of the Minister of the Economy and the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, which proves the importance of furniture, window, door, flooring and other wood product manufacturers for the manufacturing industry as a whole, with the growth of the wood and furniture sectors depending on the availability of cutting-edge production technologies.

A professional visitor will be able to meet in one convenient location many leading suppliers offering world-renowned brands, with many of the exhibited solutions actually having their premiere in Poznań.
Trade fair events Besides an opportunity to learn about what is going on in the industry, the fair also offers industryrelated events that you can take part in. Among the attractions are Poland’s Nail Hammering Championship, the Conjured from Wood competition or the Skill Testing Ground, fixed points in the Fair agenda. Another recommendable attraction is the Live Furniture Factory producing kitchen cupboards, an opportunity for visitors to learn about the nuances of cabinet furniture production. The focus of attention however, will be the assembly and packaging of finished products. According to the organisers, about fifteen companies are going to participate in this project.

Invitation to the fair
www.motorshow.pl
One world premiere, fourteen Polish debuts – in total: about 800 exhibits were shown at the MOTOR SHOW 2011. The fair was reported by the largest Polish media, there were 320 accredited journalists and 46 thousand visitors. A true record!
MOTOR SHOW To set and achieve new goals interview with Rafał Błachowski Manager of MOTOR SHOW
One of its kind show
The Poznań MOTOR SHOW is a unique event addressed to all the enthusiasts of the automotive industry and car and single-track vehicle users. This year’s MOTOR SHOW promises to be another successful edition of the event. For three April days the MTP grounds will become the capital of the Polish automotive industry. The largest automotive show in Poland – the MOTOR SHOW – is to be accompanied by the TTM Automotive Technology Fair. FERRARI – first time in Poland! For car enthusiasts Ferrari cars have always been objects of desire. So far known mostly from the Formula 1 races and Hollywood super productions, those amazing cars will now be available to see in Poznań – at the first such show in Poland! Visitors to the exhibition will have an opportunity to see the latest Ferrari model – 458 Spider, accompanied by equally beautiful models of Ferrari FF and California.
Volkswagen Group Poland – unique exposition Another spectacular exposition is to be organised by the VOLKSWAGEN Group. In a modern exhibition hall, on the area of over 7000 sq m, cars of such brands as Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Porsche are to be showcased. Premiere shows, a unique offer and dozens of additional attractions will turn the exposition into a truly amazing place for as long as three days.
Family Town The MOTOR SHOW is not only an automotive exhibition but also a family event. Everyone, regardless of their age, will find something attractive in the Family Town, organised especially for that occasion. The youngest children will have at their disposal playgrounds to play at, competitions to take part in and puzzles to solve, whereas their parents will be right near them in places arranged especially to enable them to have a rest and prepare for more exciting experiences.
Race Town Automotive fans have their breath taken away by races. The speed, the technology, the competition until the last bend

– this can arouse excitement in anyone. At the MOTOR SHOW you will be able not only to watch the races but also to see the preparations for them “behind the scenes”. You will be offered an opportunity to pretend – for a few moments – that you are a mechanic at a real Pit Stop. There are also going to be talks with professional drivers.
Custom Festival Customizing combines automotive interest and artistic skills in the creation of unique motorcycles. The most attractive of them will be available to see at the MOTOR SHOW during the competition for the title of the most beautiful motorcycle at Custom Festival. This year’s edition of the fair, organised in cooperation with the Custom magazine, is the last round of elimination before the finale of the European V4 cycle. This is good news for the fair guests, as in this way they will be able to see customised motorcycles from the whole of Europe. This event has had no precedent in Poland!
1st Polish Caravanning Exhibition Another new event at the MOTOR SHOW 2012 will be a unique exposition addressed to all the fans of active recreation. The most modern and comfortable campervans, caravans and accessories – in brief: all the latest, most interesting and best products of the caravanning industry. It is an excellent opportunity to comprehensively analyse all the latest trends and to learn about the market novelties. Additionally, the exhibitors promise numerous competitions with valuable awards and a possibility to rent a campervan. by Dariusz Wawrzyniak
In the eyes of professionals the MOTOR SHOW has achieved a real success over the last two years. The high notes we have received from the media and the statistics showing the increase in the number of new exhibitors and the exhibition space and the turnout of visitors growing every year – for us these are the best recommendations. All this proves that there is demand for such meetings as the MOTOR SHOW in Poland. A professionally organised event with a clear concept and modern ideas can attract great interest, amazing automotive brands, journalists looking for novelties, and finally – the most important participants of the fair – visitors, looking for emotions, not only those strictly automotive. If businesses which follow very strict guidelines concerning exhibiting at fairs, both when it comes to their own stands and the quality of the fairs themselves, decide to come and showcase their offers at the MOTOR SHOW – what better recommendation could we ask for? The best example of such a brand is Ferrari. The largest automotive show in Poland… …starts this year in Poznań on Friday, April 13th! Feel warmly invited! It would be a shame to miss it. The works on this year’s edition have continued since May 2011. Although the previous editions of the MOTOR SHOW have been very well received and evaluated, we keep working on making the event even more attractive and unique. Success is the best motivation to set and achieve more and more difficult goals. This year, the substantive part of the fair is to be very rich and include, for instance, a debate on the Polish automotive market. Among the participants of the debate there are going to be presidents of the most important Polish trade associations: PZPM, PIM, SAMAR, FORS, ZDS, ZPL, and STM. The talks are going to concern the most interesting subjects related to the Polish automotive sector – issues that matter for any driver: from electrical vehicles to the recycling of cars, from tax issues to the current situation of the Polish automotive sector. The subjects are going to be discussed by professionals – people who know the issues best, because they are engaged in the automotive industry in their everyday lives. It is going to be a very important conference. As every year, the trade fair guests can count on dozens of attractions and competitions. Can you reveal what the main prize of this year’s MOTOR SHOW is going to be? Yes, I am very proud of the car that we are offering as the main prize in this year’s MOTOR SHOW competition. The car is the latest work of art made by Volkswagen. It seems small from the outside but offers a lot of space inside. It is on the one hand a modern and reliable city car and on the other hand – a great solution for travels to more distant places. It is a Volkswagen up! – a present for one of the participants of MOTOR SHOW.

ttm.mtp.pl The last edition of TTM was visited by over 10 thou. professionals. They were able to see the offer prepared by nearly 300 exhibitors from 11 countries, see shows and take part in specialist conferences and lectures of experts.
Automotive Technology Fair
The exposition of foreign exhibitors seems to be very promising. Apart from the traditionally rich offer of Chinese, Turkish or Taiwanese companies, the proposals of the producers from Italy and Germany should also be interesting.
Driving force of the automotive industry There is still some time before the TTM Automotive Technology Fair but one thing is already certain – the Fair will abound with attractions. The latest products and technologies will be presented by the representatives of companies specialising in comprehensive equipping of garages and car washes and in spare parts and tools. The offer of TTM will be complemented with the simultaneously held MOTOR SHOW– the largest in its kind show in Poland.
New form of automotive fair The automotive fair organised in Poznań has in the recent years undergone significant changes. The organisers proposed a new and improved form of the event. Two separate events have been prepared for the exhibitors and the visitors: TTM and MOTOR SHOW. TTM is a fair addressed to professionals in the automotive industry and the event covers such topics as diagnostics, garage equipment, tools and spare parts. An important pillar of the Fair is also car wash equipment and car care products. TTM is organised every two years in a strictly specialist form.
Rich offer of exhibitors With the number of participant applications still growing, the organisers of TTM can already be certain that this year’s edition will be very successful. The professionals from the automotive industry spoke very highly about the last edition of TTM when the stands of more than 300 exhibitors were visited by over 10 thou. professionals, most of whom represented car repair shops. This year, leading Polish and foreign companies specialising in providing comprehensive equipment for car repair shops, motor vehicle diagnos-
tic stations and car washes, as well as manufacturers of spare parts and tools will present their offer. Traditionally, at the Fair you will be able to find the leaders of the sector of car repair shops. Also the representatives of the Automotive Technology Association (STM), which since the last edition has been an official co-organiser of the Fair, are going to present their offer. Apart from that, you will be able to familiarise yourself with the offers of such companies as: BOSCH, Sosnowski, Italcom, WSOP, Precyzja, Unimetal or Inter-Auto-Technika. Moreover, once again at the Poznań Fair you will see the offer of companies specialising in comprehensive equipment for car washes. You will be able to see their work “live” and professional consultants will offer advice on how to start providing this highly demanded service also by your own garage. The exposition of foreign exhibitors seems to be very promising. Apart from the traditionally rich offer of Chinese, Turkish or Taiwanese companies, the proposals of the producers from Italy and Germany should also be interesting.
New Live Garage What promises to be especially interesting is the next edition of the Live Garage, traditionally or-

The TTM Automotive Technology Fair is addressed to the professionals in the industry. The programme of the Fair is going to include innovative and important content and the whole event is going to comprehensively deal with subjects related to the automotive sector. ganised under the auspices of the “Nowoczesny Warsztat” journal. Here, “live” presentations of novelties in the field of repairs and diagnostics are to be held. A reflection of the tendencies in the sector of car repair shops will be a special exposition organised as part of the Live Garage devoted to car body repair and paint. The Live Garage is to be organised jointly by three companies: CSV, Airpress and Blowtherm. In the Live Garage you will also have an opportunity to learn about car diagnostics and mechanics.
Enriched programme of events Also, new points will appear in the programme of events accompanying TTM 2012. For the first time in Poznań, automotive school students will be able to take part in the finale of the Car Knowledge Competition, which has been organised for over 20 years by the Gdańsk automotive school. The latest legal regulations are going to be discussed and interpreted at a traditional training course for vehicle diagnostic stations’ inspectors. Many interesting news and trade novelties will be available at the cycle of lectures on modern garage techniques organised by the Best Products Forum of Workshops. by Dariusz Wawrzyniak 1/2012

The competition can be entered by all the works which were created in the period from June 1st, 2010 to March 1st 2012. The authors of the best designs are to be granted valuable awards, including trips to Lapland for two people.
Architect Zone for fireplace sector All those interested in the fireplace sector are most likely to find the Architect Zone interesting, as this is where they will be able to listen to interesting lectures, evaluate numerous presentations of products and take part in discussion panels. The first day of the fair, organised in cooperation with the Good Fireplace School (Szkoła Dobrego Kominkarstwa) of Piotr Batura and the “Kominki Polskie” Polish Fireplace Association, is to be devoted to fireplace issues. The other day, organised in cooperation with manufacturers of fireplaces and water installations – Makroterm, Lechma, Darco (which provides air systems) and Tatarek (which is to present electronics controlling combustion processes) – is to be devoted to the issues of water and air technology. In the Architect Zone, on the other hand, you
will be able to take part in mosaic workshops run by a mosaic artist Waldemar Miłek, try yourself at the art of fireplace construction, take advantage of the counselling for businesses and architects in the field of programming with the use of Palette CAD and see the presentation prepared by Weronika Wojnowska and Jagoda Semków on beautiful historic masonry heaters that can be seen in Poland. “KOMINIKI International Fireplace Fair,” says the Fair Manager Konrad Fleśman, “is the only in Poland separate meeting for the representatives of this industry. Its first edition that took place last year was a real success. MTP appeared to be a good place for the presentation of fireplaces, not only Polish but also from many European countries. This year’s edition already promises to be equally successful. Our fair, addressed exclusively to the fireplace sector, has been received with great interest. Also this year, the exhibitors can count on efficient promotion of market novelties. The last year’s “Fireplace Fair Premieres” competition showed how creative this sector can be. Gathering in one place and time many offers of the exhibitors gives an opportunity to make comparisons and a possibility to talk to a particular manufacturer ensures the interest of the potential visitors.
Second edition of WODOCIĄGI The first edition of the WODOCIĄGI International Water and Sewerage Industry Fair was held in 2010. It is a strictly profiled meeting of suppliers of technologies and solutions in the field of water and sewerage management and an excellent opportunity for establishing contacts and building relations between: investors, operators, designers and contractors of water and sewerage infrastructure facilities. There were many interesting events, conferences and meetings for professionals attending the Fair. The previous edition of this new initiative of the Poznań International Fair (MTP) was very well received by the industry and even as soon as today we can say that the Fair’s next edition will be equally successful. It is going to be a meeting addressed to representatives of enterprises operating in the water and sewage sector in Poland, entities financing investments and counselling companies. by Katarzyna Supa

Innovations-Technologies-Machines Poland
There are several trade fairs organised in Poland for the industrial sector, but the statistics confirm that it is ITM Poland that exhibitors, visitors and professionals regard as the most important event for the sector. In the ranking of fairs organised in Poland prepared every year by the Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry (PIPT), ITM Poland occupies the first position, very much ahead of other similar events organised for the sector of investment goods and industrial technologies. ITM Poland is held under the honorary auspices of the Minister of the Economy and the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
Joanna Kucharska Manager of ITM Poland
ITM Poland is undoubtedly the most important meeting of the industry in the Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to the comprehensive overview of European and world market novelties, the Poznań fair plays an active role in setting the directions for the development of the industry. For the exhibitors, the fair is an efficient platform for promotion of their innovative products and for the visitors – the largest and most complementary presentation of industrial technologies of tomorrow. We are happy that 45 percent of the exhibitors at our fair come from abroad. We are proud that it is at our fair that so many European and world premieres take place. Feel warmly invited to Poznań to the largest professional trade fair of modern technologies.
Modernity in price Every year ITM Poland attracts crowds of professionals: technologists, constructors, engineers, producers of machines and devices for automotive, airplane, shipyard, railway, arms, security, medicine, mining, machine industries and the representatives of enterprises dealing with mechanics and production of all kinds of metal products. More than 50% of them are the managing personnel, making decisions concerning the modernisation of their technological lines and the purchase of machines and devices. The Poznań industrial fair constitutes the broadest overview of European and world novelties in the sector. Here you can familiarise yourself with the latest technological solutions, make contacts with clients and the representatives of the media, share experience and expertise. What distinguishes ITM Poland from other similar events is that it

gathers the whole industry which represents a comprehensive process of creating a modern product – from the concept and design through various production stages (casting, mechanical processing, metal forming and welding, etc.) and up to finishing works, including painting, galvanising or transport. The significance of ITM Poland is best revealed by statistics: last year there were more than 940 exhibitors and enterprises from 32 countries; they showcased their offer on the area of more than 20 thousand sq m; the exhibition featured over 100 European and world premieres and was visited by 16,800 professionals. From the constantly growing number of applications for this year’s edition of ITM Poland, the organisers presume that it is going to be at least as successful as the previous one. Among the exhibi-
tors there are going to be the leaders of the industry, who will bring many new and often innovative solutions to be presented for the first time to trade fair audience. During this year’s edition the exposition is to include the offers of such companies as: Abplanalp Consulting, ABH, Agie Charmilles, APX Technologie, BLM Group, Boschert, BS System, Bystronic, Carl Zeiss, Dematec, DMG, Eckert, Erall, Fanuc Robotics Faro Technologies, Heidenhein, Hurco, HTM, Igus, Messer Eutectic Castolin, Mitutoyo, Pol-sver, Prima Power, Siemens, Tox Pressotechnik, Trumpf, Yamazaki Mazak.
New way to show industry ITM Poland 2012 is to be traditionally divided into seven thematic exhibitions: The HAPE Exhibition of Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Drives, the MACHTOOL Machine Tool Exhibition, the METALFORUM Exhibition of Metallurgy, Foundry Engineering 1/2012

and Metal Industry, the SURFEX Exhibition of Surface Treatment Technologies, the WELDING Exhibition, the TRANSPORTA Exhibition and the Research for Industry Exhibition. What is new is the location of the exhibitions. The offer of the exhibitors in the fields of: machining, manipulators, industrial robots, coolants and lubricants is to be located in the modern complex of four exhibition halls – 7, 7A, 8 and 8A (the so-called “four-pack”). The remaining exhibition halls are going to host products and solutions from the field of metal forming (exhibition hall 5), tools and control and measurement equipment (exhibition hall 9). Exhibition halls 3 and 3A are going to host the offer of companies operating in the field of metallurgy, steelworks, casting, metal industry, welding technologies and materials, surface technologies, hydraulics, pneumatics, drives and transport. This is also where you will find the representatives of research institutes and R&D units exhibiting at the Research for Industry Exhibition.
Knowledge-based experience The current situation on the market, the latest trends, the implementation of innovative solutions – these are the subjects of conferences and debates that are to take place at ITM Poland. Additionally, this year is also going to be a jubilee year for the prestigious event called the Engineering Forum. The Forum is organised by the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations – NOT, the Polish Foundrymen’s Technical Association (STOP), the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers & Technicians (SIMP) and MTP. The events especially worth attending are: the seminar on “Modern methods of studying the structure and properties of surface layers of metals”, co-organised by the Institute of Precision Mechanics (IMP), the seminar of the Polish Union of Steel Distributors (PUDS), the conference on “Funds for innovation – experiences, projects, current sources of support”, organised by the European Funds.
For the first time at ITM Poland, thanks to the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers & Technicians (SIMP), the Mechanic Day is to be celebrated. This event is going to involve the presentation of offers of R&D institutes for small and medium enterprises cooperating with SIMP and a seminar summing up five editions of the national competition for the Best Technical Achievement of the Year, organised under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy Waldemar Pawlak. Obviously, there are also going to be events permanently inscribed into the ITM Poland programme: the Welding Academy, the Skill Boot

Modern fair with years of tradition Interview with Product Group Manager Wiesława Galińska ITM Poland has a long tradition. The last year’s edition of the fair was particularly formal. It during this fair when the main events held to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Poznań International Fair (MTP) took place. The guests who attended the events often said that for them ITM Poland was inextricably linked to MTP since it has been organised from the very beginning of it. Is that really true? ITM Poland has a long tradition, indeed. Its history goes back to the first trade fairs organised in the independent Poland. It has always been an important event for the industry. Statistics confirm that – in spite of great competition – ITM Poland is still appreciated by both exhibitors and professional visitors, who regard it as the most important meeting for specialists in the industry in the whole country. Clients also perceive this event as a specialist exhibition of modern technologies, an annual festival of innovation and advanced technological thinking. Central and Eastern Europe. What distinguishes this particular event from all the other similar fairs? The main advantage of ITM Poland is its comprehensive thematic scope, which makes it possible to present in one place and time state-of-the-art solutions for various sectors of the industry. The clear division of the exhibitors according to trade sectors facilitates trade fair visiting. As the last year, the trade fair exposition is to be divided into several exhibitions: the HAPE Exhibition of Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Drives, the MACH-TOOL Machine Tool Exhibition, the METALFORUM Exhibition of Metallurgy, Foundry Engineering and Metal Industry, the SURFEX Exhibition of Surface Treatment Technologies, the WELDING Exhibition, the TRANSPORTA Exhibition and the Work Safety in Industry Exhibition. An integral part of the fair is also the Research for Industry Exhibition – a unique interdisciplinary exposition of offers of research units and institutions supporting innovation. What distinguishes ITM Poland from other similar events is that it gathers the whole industry which represents a comprehensive process of creating a modern product – from the concept and design through various production stages and up to finishing works. What special attractions are you planning for ITM Poland visitors this year? First of all, the début of a new CAx innovation event dedicated to engineers, designers and constructors. CAx Innovation in-
volves a comprehensive offer of technology, CAD, CAM, CAE, CNC, CIM and RP/RT tools (3D printers), RE tools (3D scanners) and VR products. What is the motto of the upcoming edition of the fair? We are continuing the promotion of the fair under the motto of “Innovative thinking mode”. This encompasses the whole philosophy of the meeting as an efficient platform promoting innovative products and presenting complete know-how of industrial technologies of the future. You are very involved with ITM Poland, you must know most of the exhibitors and they identify you with this event. You have been many times awarded by various trade organisations. I also know that the community of engineers has granted you its highest possible award. What was that? A year ago I was awarded the title of the Honourable Golden Engineer. The voting was organised by the readers of the Przegląd Techniczny journal to choose the most distinguished creators of the Polish technology. This award is granted to those who, despite their technical education, gain recognition in a totally different field of professional activity. The title was for me a great surprise and an honour, especially that among the previously awarded there were many personalities from the world of politics, business and art.

We are facing serious challenges Interview with Filip Bittner Product group Manager
The Poznań International Fair (MTP) has won a tender for the preparation and realisation of the concept of the Trade Promotion Programme to promote the furniture and clothing industries on the international markets. Who are the partners of these programmes? The results of the tenders were announced at the end of 2011. They are just two of the several tenders for the implementation of Trade Promotion Programmes aimed at promoting the Polish industry on the international markets called by the Ministry of the Economy. MTP is going to realise programmes for the furniture and clothing industries. The Trade Promotion Programme for both industries is to be implemented with several partners. The partner of MTP in the furniture industry is the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers (OIGPM) and in the clothing industry – the Federation of Apparel & Textile Industry Employers (ZPPOiT). The Trade Promotion Programmes are launched on the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy as part of the Innovative Economy Operational Programme. The priority is to promote the Polish economy on the international markets and to encourage the participation of entrepreneurs in the programmes. Our programmes involve two types of actions: actions open for all enterprises (Component A) and actions aimed at promoting a given industry as a whole (Component B). What is the purpose of such programmes? The main aim is to create strong Polish brands that would be recognisable in the world. During the realisation of particular programmes we are going to focus on launching Polish export specialities onto foreign markets so that as wide as possible a group of foreign buyers receive necessary information on products and services of a given industry. These objectives are pursued under OP IE sub-measure 6.5.1 – the promotion of the Polish economy on international markets. Our promotion is aimed above all at improving the image of the Polish economy among international partners, providing foreigners with information on Poland and Polish entrepreneurs with information on conditions for running business activities outside the country, supporting the increase in investments
made by Polish enterprises on international markets and enhancing the competitiveness of the Polish economy. Who can take advantage of the programmes? Entities entitled to support are enterprises based and running business activities in the Republic of Poland who have applied to take part in a given Trade Promotion Programme or in a general promotion programme. The furniture and clothing industries are the first industries to be promoted through a Trade Promotion Programme. What is it going to look like in practice? The works on promoting the two industries started in January 2012 and the whole programme is to take three years. The markets on which we are going to promote those two branches of the industry are: Poland, Germany, France, Great Britain, Ukraine, Turkey, Denmark and Russia. In each of these countries we are going to arrange the participation of Polish enterprises in the most important fair and exhibition events for these industries. The programme assumes also the organisation of trade missions, which involve the participation in fairs, conferences, match-making meetings and meetings with experts in the furniture sector on a given market. Yet another activity conducted as part of Trade Promotion Programme is the organisation of two-day training courses on strategy building, marketing and trade, and on exporting to foreign markets. These activities are to be conducted as part of Component A of the Trade Promotion Programme. What activities are planned in Component B, whose aim is to promote the industry as a whole? Component B includes such activities as the organisation of one-day conferences on target markets included in the programme, two study tours for foreign journalists and contractors in Poland and information points at trade fairs in Poland and abroad. These activities are to be supported with general promotion of the furniture industry, mostly through developing a logo and a slogan in several different languages to promote the industry, as well as publishing advertisements and sponsored articles in trade and consumer press in Poland and abroad. Moreover, promotional and informational materials are to be developed, such as: catalogues, leaflets, roll-ups, lanyards, USBs. MTP has been a renowned organiser of Polish trade fair expositions abroad for many years. Has this experience helped in winning the tenders organised by the Ministry of the Economy? I am convinced that our expertise and experience in organising Polish trade fair expositions abroad con-

stituted our significant advantage. Thanks to the trust of our exhibitors, the Poznań International Fair (MTP) organises the expositions of leading Polish enterprises at more than 50 reputable trade fairs and exhibitions in such countries as: Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Over the last 5 years, MTP has provided services involving the organisation of expositions at foreign fairs to over 450 Polish companies, which together rented the total exhibition space of nearly 9500 sq m. And, what is most important for our partners – we deal with all the works related to the organisation of the exposition abroad. We provide support in obtaining financing; we offer professional services before, during and after the fair, support in renting the exhibition space, developing stands and ordering additional equipment, as well as finding accommodation and booking flights. We can also provide logistic services (such as the transport of the participants from the airport to the hotel and back, and from the hotel to the fair venue and back). Thanks to our experience in cooperation with the organisers of foreign fairs and thanks to the permanent agreements we have concluded with them, we can offer reliable services but also reasonable prices. Busy and successful year Interview with Elżbieta roeske, Manager of Poznań Congress Center
The year 2011 was a difficult and demanding time for the congress industry. What were the last months like from the perspective of the Poznań Congress Center? We have had 12 months of dynamic changes and hard work but also spectacular successes. Fortunately, in the time of the economic slowdown recorded by many representatives of our sector, the PCC brand appeared to be resistant to crisis and 2011 abounded with prestigious events taking place at the Poznań International Fair (MTP). In autumn we hosted nearly 20 conferences related to the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union. We have also hosted many trade conferences, the FIH Indoor World Cup, the Racing Pigeon Olympiad and world exhibitions of dogs and cats. Thanks to the richer and richer concert offer, our musical exhibition hall MP2 has become popular with inhabitants of the city and the region. Thanks to the professionalization of congresses and conferences we are now organising them in the whole Poland. The PPC infrastructure has also changed. The modernisation of the PCC infrastructure was very important for us; we wanted it to achieve the highest world standards. That is why we decided to expand it by adding a modern conference and congress centre. The thorough renovation of two levels of exhibition

hall 15 took six months and was quite costly. But it was worth it! Now, we have a building for 4 thou. conference guests, modern audio-visual equipment and comfortable conditions for the organisation of both large events which require technical facilities and small business meetings. And as soon as in six months – after the thorough renovation of the last level of this exhibition hall – our infrastructure will be richer by one additional entertainment and concert room for 2 thou. people. With such a modern conference centre the year 2012 will definitely be very busy. The beginning of the year was very busy and we would like to keep this pace. Our activity in the field of congresses has been developing very dynamically. Soon, we will host the European congress of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry. Another event which is to take place at our grounds is the 16th International Congress of the Polish Cardiac Society (PTK). We conduct talks and accept reservations for international conferences and scientific congresses set for such
distant dates as 2016. At the same time, we are working on expanding our concert offer and are holding negotiations concerning the organisation of concerts of famous foreign stars. Medical congresses and rock concerts are totally different events, not only when it comes to organisation. How can you efficiently work with such different groups of clients? The Poznań Congress Center has an ever broader and more and more diverse group of clients. Therefore, we constantly invest in our technical facilities and training for our employees. We expand the scope of our services and we have a flexible approach towards the needs and expectations of the market. Our advantage is also a young, dynamic team of employees, who work with equal devotion, regardless of the kind of event – whether it is a mega event, a trade conference or a religious event. Thank you for the interview. Interviewed by Karolina Makowska

The facility is fully adjusted to the needs of the disabled. Escalators and lifts provide an easy access to all the storeys of the exhibition hall. and two separate entrances to the building facilitate the organisation of several large events at the same time.
Quality and comfort
The eighth edition of the Poznań Wedding Gala was a mine of knowledge on the latest trends, a source of inspiration and interesting news not only from the world of fashion but also make-up, confectionery, printing, tourism and jewellery.
The Poznań conference and congress centre offers comfortable conditions for the organisation of both large events, which require technical facilities, and small business meetings. This is possible thanks to the modern system of sliding walls, which allows to freely modify the size of the rooms – from one big room covering the area of nearly the whole storey to seven smaller
rooms. The sliding walls are installed on a complex network of rails.
Room of GREAT possibilities On the third level of the building there is the largest congress room in Poznań, able to house 1200 people. After a thorough renovation, which will end in August 2012, the room’s capacity will grow and it will be able to house 2 thousand people. For the purpose of the construction of a modern entertainment and concert hall, the roof will have to be raised. Necessary changes will also be introduced at the auditorium, part of which is to have a stadium layout and part of which is to be flat. The plans include also the improvement of acoustic parameters. Even the name of the venue has changed – it is now called the Earth Room. Similarly as in the case of conference rooms, the size of the entertainment and concert hall will be adjustable. Thanks to the system of mobile and acoustic walls and folding and removable stands, it will be possible to divide the hall into two parts so that two concerts, formal ceremonies, seminars or separate conferences can be held at the same time.

Idea for exhibition Interview with Zbigniew józefiok Technical Services Manager
What was 2011 like for the department you are in charge of? The last year brought many changes, which were introduced in order to better use the significant expertise and experience of our team. This, in turn, was aimed at increasing the quality of the services which we provide to our clients – the fair exhibitors and organisers of various events, not only in Poznań but also outside our city. Could you tell us something more about the kind of services you provide? Our department, in which there are 76 employees, consists of two closely cooperating teams. The first team is made of people responsible for the contact with the exhibitors on matters related to designing and constructing stands and arranging events. The other group deals with providing technical services directly before and during trade fair events. I am talking mostly about services related to the assembly of stands, but also to transport, logistics, installation of all kinds of connections, suspending banners and other advertising materials. Which aspects of the department’s work have undergone the most significant changes? The most significant changes concerned the team dealing with stand design and construction. The team, whose job is to construct stands and provide services for events taking place outside the MTP grounds, was formed as soon as in the middle of 2011. I must say that the part of our activities which they are responsible for is developing very dynamically. We have become significantly more active in all the important trade fair centres in Poland and Europe. Another important and visible change was launching a new brand – IDEAEXPO.MTP. The reason for this decision was that our team has been operating in the market for years, just like specialised companies dealing with stand construction. It is a very competitive market. Most of our exhibitors are aware of the fact that the Poznań

International Fair (MTP), apart from organising numerous trade fair events, also provides services involving comprehensive arrangement of trade fair stands. Nevertheless, we felt that it was necessary to clearly emphasize this field of our activities so that it was easily visible. And there are things we can be proud of. We have been operating for more than 30 years and our team builds nearly 6000 stands a year. This figure accounts for 50 percent of all the stands constructed at the Poznań fairs and a growing number of such works performed in other trade fair centres, also abroad. These figures are indeed very impressive. Tell us a bit about the works on launching the new brand. IDEAEXPO.MTP Stand construction expert – as this is the full name of our “business” – was created after an analysis of the stand construction market, including the competition and the assessment of our competences and potential. We also conduced marketing research which showed that we needed to change our way of communicating to clients, so that they could be certain that the cooperation with us guaranteed services of high quality and reasonable price, plus – a number of additional benefits they cannot get anywhere else on the market. With such significant experience as ours in the fair trade industry and taking advantage of the whole expertise we have access to in our whole company – the only trade fair centre listed in world rankings – we have a possibility to offer our exhibitors something more than just stands. What is it exactly that you can offer? As a stand construction expert we guarantee our clients that we will optimise their participation in a given exhibition. This kind of approach makes us unique on the market, because – although we operate as a business entity – for us our clients always come first. If the exhibitors achieve their business goals, the efficiency of trade fairs as a marketing communication tool will rise. This, in
the long-term, will contribute to the development of the whole market of exhibition services and will facilitate economic development. I would like to add that the philosophy of our activities has not changed. We know the field in which we operate and – what is more – we develop and extend the scope of services we can provide, improving our competences. We focus on providing high quality for reasonable prices. Being an expert is also a kind of mission. We can and want to educate, share the knowledge, especially with those who cannot delegate part of their personnel to works related with the organisation of a trade fair performance for a significant period of time. And such enterprises are now in majority. This does not mean that they cannot have their participation in fairs perfectly planned. It is our job to take over most of the tasks related to preparing a stand. As an integral part of MTP we have the possibility to organise comprehensive trade fair performance, including the full logistics and efficient promotional activities and events. What was the exhibitors’ response to the new brand? Launching of a new brand is a great challenge. All the activities must be conducted in such a way as to ensure the clients who have trusted us so far that they still work with the Poznań International
Fair (MTP). On the other hand, ordering the method of communication with the market and formulating a clear and unambiguous message can facilitate reaching the exhibitors who – for various reasons – have not yet decided to work with us. I am proud to say that our marketing research shows that after less than two months since the launch of IDEAEXPO.MTP the brand is recognised by as many as 22% of the respondents. Our website, www.ideaexpo.pl, which we regularly develop, has also been very popular. We also invite you to use the “Ask the Expert” form available on our website, where you can ask all the questions related to broadly understood arrangement of exhibition performances. We are very happy that the implementation of a new system of visual identification went so well, although it took place in quite a hectic period, i.e. in the middle of our preparations for the largest in Poland construction fair – BUDMA. There are still many things for us to do, as the exhibition industry works in cycles. Only when the exhibition year is over, we will be able to decide whether our information on the new brand has reached all our clients and whether the level of brand awareness that we have achieved is satisfactory. Thank you for the interview. Interviewed by Marzanna Wiśniewska

Architects’ Zone Strada di Architettura is a special tour path for visitors, which connected three zones called KNOWLEDGE, INSPIRATION and EXPERIENCE, where events for architects were held, including extremely popular meetings with the stars of the world architecture. Special guests of the Strada di Architettura project were: Professor Dietmar Berle, a teacher at the famous ETH in Zurich and Aron Losonczi, a graduate of Royal University of Fine Arts in Stockholm, who in 2001 patented and then improved transparent concrete. Strada di Architettura means also numerous exhibitions of modern architecture and the presentation of interesting and innovative products enabling the realisation of previously unfeasible visions. An important point of the Strada di Architettura programme was the Debate of architects and investors on “the relations between the value of architecture and the value of real property.” The meeting was organised on the initiative of the Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland (IARP) and was a public attempt at defining the current relations between the quality of architecture and the economy of the real property market. At the same time, the debate was a discussion on the sector’s responsibility for the contribution in the shaping of the human environment. New IT products to facilitate the work of designers and architects could be found in a special zone called Archispace, where additionally training courses of the Effective Design Academy were held; there were also consultation points where you could contact manufacturers operating in the construction industry.
Attractions of special expositions BUDMA means also numerous special interactive expositions, shows and workshops. For instance, at the BUDSHOW 2012 exposition you could see an ecological house of the future – a modern house characterised with law energy-consumption indicators with respect to all kinds of energy: embodied energy (i.e., energy used for the production of the construction materials applied), final energy (i.e., energy used for heating the interior and domestic water) as well as the primary energy to the consumption of which (from the environment) the building contributes. For the third time, the Energy-efficient and Passive Construction Forum was held. The two day cycle of seminars was devoted to the following issues: sustainable architecture, modern materials and technologies and examples of passive constructions from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Forum was accompanied by the exposition of companies offering energy-efficient and passive solutions for the construction industry. The content of BUDMA 2012 concentrated on one important challenge for the construction of the nearest future – the modernisation, renovation and revitalisation of the existing buildings (such as monuments, old housing estates of prefabricated-sections houses, public buildings). Thanks to an innovative joint initiative of the Poznań branch of the Association of Monument Conservation Officers (SKZ) and MTP, economic, technical and conservation conditions for the revitalisation processes were presented. The lectures and panel discussions were accompanied with the

special REVITALISATION exposition featuring the most innovative construction and conservation materials used for the renovation and protection of buildings. The best young craftsmen from all over Poland came to Poznań to show their skills at the Polish Championship of Young Roofers and Floorlayers. Special exhibition of Modern Carpenter Workshop and a window installation workshop were perfect opportunities to learn about the newest tools and technologies.
BUMASZ – unique trade meeting Nearly 130 companies presented themselves at BUMASZ 2012. Among them there were leading manufacturers and suppliers of construction machinery, vehicles and equipment, as well as components and services for the execution of construction works. For the exhibitors BUMASZ is an excellent opportunity to make new and sustain already existing contacts with professionals from the construction industry who make decisions concerning investments. The “live” presentation of new products perfectly contributes to stimulating the market of buyers and to creating and strengthening brands. This year’s Fair offered additionally a rich programme of trade events, including the block of conferences called the Construction Engineer’s Day. The subjects of the conferences included the construction and modernisation of the road network in Poland. Another event addressed to constructors, designers, manufacturers of construction materials, construction engineers and
GLASS Glass Industry Fair
technologists was a conference panel entitled “Nano technologies in Construction” which concerned the issues related to nano-concretes, transparent, self-repairing and photo-cathalic types of this popular construction material that it concrete. Conference entitled “Technical requirements for construction machinery,” organised by the Construction Equipment Research Institute (PIMB) took place on the third trade fair day. It was addressed to those who wanted to learn about the current legal regulations concerning the safety, certification and selected issues related to following the EU Directives. Another interesting event was the seminar on the subject of “Safety in Construction”.
CBS – knowledge sharing forum Organised thanks to the joint initiative of the Polish Club of Sports Infrastructure (PKIS) and the Poznań International Fair (MTP), in the recent years CBS has become a unique forum of sharing information on the latest materials and services for the sector of sports construction. The exhibition of CBS 2012 was created by nearly 100 companies, leading manufacturers and suppliers of materials, components and services for the execution of sports and recreational investments. . No wonder that the Fair is so willingly visited by professionals interested in planning, designing, constructing, modernising and managing of sports and lei-
sure facilities. “Over the last years, and this year it has been particularly visible, the Fair has changed – it is no more a meeting of companies with their potential clients, but rather a meeting of companies and people operating in the industry”, says Andrzej Pawłowski, the President of the Management Board of Masters SA. “Therefore, talks are often held between large contractors and companies offering their products, such as sports equipment and granulates, and with smaller contractors. The Fair is still important, although I must admit that its meaning has changed. The largest group of visitors are the representatives of companies looking for partners to cooperate, but there are also architects who just collect information.” At the Fair there were also many specialist lectures, which served as the background for the meetings with trade participants. The subjects of the lectures oscillated between legal issues, new products, sports facility management and the publicprivate partnership. The lectures attracted the representatives of the local self-governments and investors in the sports, leisure and hotel sector.
New face of GLASS The GLASS Glass Industry Fair is a new project in the broad offer of events organised by MTP. The main aim of the Fair is to start in Poland the fashion for glass as an ecological and versatile material. GLASS is the continuation of the GLASS & STONE event held in 2008. This year, the Fair featured two types of glass: flat glass – used in construction and industry, and decorative glass – used by architects and interior designers. During this year’s edition of the GLASS Glass Industry Fair, exhibitors from Poland and abroad presented glass processing machinery and consumables (Teknika, Hegla, Rudi Knopp, Viditech, Kinlong, Fushan companies) as well as finished glass products, such as doors, railings, canopies, windows or mirrors (Salinox, Szkłomal, Rafał Bara companies). There was also an opportunity to familiarise oneself with the offer of companies producing glass protection systems (Sant-Tech). Also the Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials (ICiMB) prepared its own exposition. The GLASS Fair was visited by a large number of professionals, including manufacturers of glass products, glass industry workers, steel mills and glass plants producing flat glass, interior designers and architects, and architects of urban space. by Tomasz Wojciechowski

www.polagra-premiery.pl International Fair of Agricultural Mechanization POLAGRA-PREMIERY
Successful Polagra-Premiery Manufacturers of agricultural machinery and equipment came to Poznań from all over the world to present their latest offer at the Polagra-Premiery International Fair of Agricultural Mechanization. This largest agricultural exhibition in Poland attracted over 40 thou. visitors, who had an opportunity to see the exposition of nearly 2000 agricultural machines and equipment. The exhibition was visited by farmers not only from many regions of Poland but also from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Germany, Russia, the United States, Sweden, Hungary, Great Britain and Italy.
Agriculture of the future At this year’s Polagra-Premiery you could see everything a farmer of the future will use in his work. The exhibition was the first this year trade fair event devoted to agriculture prepared by Polish organisers. It gave an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest trends and technological solutions in the sector. Among the nearly 200 agricultural and horticultural novelties showcased in Poznań there was not only modern equipment for farms but also the latest crop varieties and fertilisers. The rich offer was presented by 300 exhibitors and companies from 16 countries: Austria, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Russia, the United States, Sweden, Turkey, Great Britain and Italy. The exhibitors were satisfied and they admitted that the Poznań Fair was the best place to make business in this industry. ”Polagra-Premiery 2012 is a very important event for the Polish sector of agriculture and the agricultural sectors of many other European countries”, says Leszek Weremczuk, marketing and trade manager of EXPOM Sp. z o.o. ”This exhibition opens the season of meetings between farmers from the whole of Poland and manufacturers of agricultural machinery. That is
why we are participating in the next edition of Polagra-Premiery (…) The event takes place every two years, which is a very good idea, because no manufacturer can make a new, tested and ready for sale machine within just 12 months. The two years is the necessary time for the production of a new product worth showcasing at the Fair.” The Poznań exhibition was visited by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki, who said that judging from the size of the Fair, the quality of the presented offer and the international character of the debates, Poznań can be called the capital of European agricultural meetings. ”Another thing that makes me very happy is that there are more and more Polish machinery manufacturers exhibiting at Polagra-Premiery, and their offer is received with a growing interest not only in Poland but also abroad”, emphasized the Minister.
Voice of the agricultural sector For the four exhibition days, the exposition of the agricultural equipment was accompanied by numerous additional events: workshops, debates, competitions and conferences. The topics discussed included: energy in agriculture, the prospects for the market of cereals, the significance and future of large land leases in Poland, the use of certified seeds or the prospects of growing rapeseed in the next years. There were also discussions on the most current issue of rising fuel prices. These involved ways of economical use of fuel when working with a tractor or other agricultural machines. Also the youngest in the industry had an opportunity to speak their mind at Polagra-Premiery. Farmers from all over Europe came to Poznań on the 3rd European Young Farmer’s Day in order to take part in the plenary session on the subject of “the Common Agricultural Policy after 2013: opportunities and challenges for young farmers.” Among the participants in the debate there were also the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki, the President of the European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA) Joris Baeke and the President of the Rural Youth Union Michał Modrzejewski, as well as experts in the CAP. The European Young Farmer’s Day is an international platform of sharing knowledge, good practice, debates and expert discussions concerning the future of young farmers in Poland and Europe.

Awards for the best Such an important event for the industry as Polagra-Premiery could not take place without prestigious awards granted to the best products, companies and farmers. 28 products were awarded with the Gold Medals: 18 in the category of “Machinery and Equipment” and 10 in the category of “Crop Varieties”. Other awards, the Acanthus Aureus statuettes were granted to 7 companies for the best arranged stands. Apart from that, the awards in the international competition “Machine of the Year 2012” were given to 11 exhibitors and young farmers were awarded in the “Innovative Young Farmer 2012” competition. The fame of the latter competition and attractive financial awards attracted many participants. The Gardenia Garden and Landscape Architecture Fair 2012 was the largest edition of the event held so far. The rich exhibition offer included plants, garden tools and equipment, garden chemistry, garden furniture, watering accessories and decorative elements, cut flowers and decorations, among them over 130 new products. The visitors to the Fair were able to familiarise themselves with the offers of companies from Poland, Belgium, Belarus, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia and Italy. The Fair was held under the honorary auspices of Marek Sawicki, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. The first day of the Fair was designed especially for business talks, as it was addressed to professional visitors. On this day, the exhibition was visited by owners and employees of garden wholesales and stores, officials responsible for urban and residential greenery, landscape architects and experts in garden design.
Power of science For the sixth time, especially with landscape architects, garden designers, contractors and employees of offices administering urban greenery in mind, the editorial board of the “Zieleń Miejska” monthly and MTP organised a seminar entitled “Urban Garden Art.” The subject of the seminar was how to promote cities in a modern and comprehensive way through their green areas, which are now becoming an increasingly important part of the urban fabric, both for residents, developers and municipal authorities. Led by Piotr Urbański, Assoc. Prof., PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, the seminar attracted over 500 people. Motivating employees, team management and tools and information helping to find the right plants – these were the topics of lectures organised by the Polish Association of Garden Centres. How should a modern house-garden space, everyday landscape and a place of residence look like? What new possibilities does designing an integrated house and garden space open? Has the time come for the concepts of “house” and “garden” to be redefined? For the third time, the Department of Landscape Art of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in cooperation with the Academic Entrepreneurship Incubators (Manufaktura KunSZTU) and the Poznań In-
ternational Fair (MTP) organised interdisciplinary design workshops. The topic of this year’s meeting was: “House in the garden – garden in the house, or designing an integrated residential space.” A new opportunity at this year’s Gardenia was the possibility to design your garden in just 10 minutes! Experts from the Department of Greenery and Landscape Architecture of the Poznań University of Life Sciences prepared a service called “Design Emergency”, which consisted in giving advice on how to design, care for and arrange the garden of your dreams. The exhibitors’ exposition was complemented with the SPACE FOR IMAGINATION created by the GARTE company. This time, the space was developed especially for the youngest visitors – to stimulate their senses. In the SPACE FOR IMAGINATION children could independently create and construct. The visitors to the Fair also had an opportunity to ask a few questions to the ambassador of the Fair – Maja Popielarska. The journalist, famous for her Maja in a garden TV programme, gave hints on what to do to have a beautiful spring garden and how to efficiently protect it against pests. Also the best Polish florists presented their skills. The Floristic Shows were organised by the Polish Association of Engineers and Technicians of Horticulture (SITO) and the Poznań International Fair (MTP). The shows were accompanied with a competition for florists, in which the contestants were asked to prepare two kinds of bouquets – a bridal and an occasional one. Another event which enjoyed great popularity was the Healthy Food From the Garden market, organised on the initiative of the Zielony loft publisher of Slow Food & Garden magazine. The best products presented at Gardenia trade fair were awarded with MTP Gold Medals. Seven products were distinguished by this award.
