DESKTOP HANGING The aim of this decoration set is to create a decoration belonging to the desktop , like desk lamp , photo frame etc. Except for a finished standard size bird model equipped with a hanger , the accessories used can be very variable. You can create your own design or modify the decoration in whatever way you like. To be more environmentally friendly , we choose some empty bottles of hand cream or night cream to be the base of this hanging set. Firstly , the size and shape of these bottles suit our purpose very well. Secondly , there is usually a gap between the lid and the bottle body, and this natural circular groove will be perfectly fit for providing an anchorage point for the wire used in this set. Of course you can choose anything suitable to your taste.
making of the desktop hanging set You can use the plastic coated wire used to make the hanger , as you might have bought a bundle of it before. But if you find this too soft to shape , you can choose some with larger diameter or with colored plastic coat if you wish.
First cut a strip of the wire about 60 -70cm. Wrap around the circular groove of the bottle and when one end meets the wire again after one loop , make a cross twist at the point about 4 cm from the open end.
twist the end part clockwise with your fingers keeping the wire close together as it progresses
stop twisting when the accumulated loops reach a distance of about 1 cm
While holding the bottle in place , grip the looped end firmly with the long nose pliers and twist forward bit by bit to tighten the large loop round the bottle until the loop is securely tightened up.
Now bend the wire beyond the looped part into a semi-circular arc with a radius of about 7 cm - 8 cm using any suitable tool available at hand to help you with this. The plane of the arc is perpendicular to the top surface of the lid.

Cut away the wire in surplus and bend a V shaped hook as shown at the place just directly above the center of the lid
Hanging the bird model onto the base Just hang the bird model equipped with the single unit hanger on the hook
If you use the bird model equipped with the 2-unit hanger , it is advisable to use an accessory hook in order to be in line with the orientation of the model equipped with the single unit hanger. the accessory hook is made from the plastic coated wire
Hanging with thread is not recommended here because the short length of the thread doesn’t facilitate smooth swinging of the model. The model will only swing within a narrow range. Since the previous models will look virtually stationary after being hung directly on the V shaped hook, if you do prefer a dynamic version , it is recommended using a single thread for the sake of smoother swinging. demonstration on how the single thread is tied on both ends
