The Vision

MONTEFIORE Sir Moses Montefiore was the most famous English Jew of his time, probably of all time. Passionate in his beliefs, both as a Jew and as an Englishman, he became a legend throughout the entire Jewish world in his own lifetime. He was respected by kings and potentates; and was venerated by impoverished Jews in the shtetls of Eastern Europe as well as in the mellahs of North Africa and the Middle East. He was born in 1784 and died in 1885, aged 100. As a young man, his uncle Moses Mocatta secured him a position as one of the only twelve brokers allowed to practise on the London Exchange. He married Judith Cohen, sister-in-law of Nathan Meyer Rothschild; and that connection helped him to make his fortune before the age of forty. Montefiore then retired from the Stock Exchange in order to devote the rest of his long life to the interests of poor and oppressed fellow Jews. The Terms GENERAL INFORMATION Name Badges and Ribbons While many of us know one another, the best way to meet new people and make new connections is if our name badges are visible, so please be sure to wear yours throughout the conference. Your badge is required for admission to all conference functions including meals, sessions, and evening events. Colored ribbons are used to identify presenters, sponsors, members of the planning committee, MONTEFIORE board and staff and media. The ABRAHAM Award for Excellence of Philanthropic Collaboration recognizes forward-thinking Jewish philanthropists who collaborate to achieve impact in their chosen fields of interest. The Registration Registration Process – Security Guidelines and Requirements You are about to register yourself and/or other persons for an event organized by STARGUEST. Please carefully read the following security guidelines and requirements before proceeding with the registration(s). 1. Minimum age The person being registered must be at least 18 years old by the starting date of the event. 2. Registration deadline The deadline will be communicated by your MONTEFIORE contact. Past that deadline, the system closes for further registrations. 3. Photo requirements (see criteria on page 2) – Colour picture – Taken within the last five years – Neutral coloured background – Format: jpg file – Maximum size: 100 Kb – No hats, sunglasses, dark glasses, headphones, wireless handsfree devices or similar items, jewellery or garments of any sort that obstruct the view of the face 4.
