WILDLIFE PAVILION
BIRD HOUSE@STILTS HOUSE
A green roof is a roof with vegetation and soil that creates a natural ecosystem. A peat house is a traditional dwelling made of peat blocks with a green roof. The green roof insulates the peat house, reduces stormwater runoff, and enhances biodiversity. It attracts birds and plants that find shelter and food in the vegetation.
A green roof on a peat house is a sustainable, aesthetic, and living habitat that supports wildlife and nature.
LOCATION PLAN
REPTILE HOUSE
A reptile house is a type of enclosure that houses different species of reptiles, which can also include various vegetations that provide shade, shelter, food, and enrichment for the reptiles. A wooden seat can also blend in with the natural environment of the reptile house and create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for the visitors. A wooden seat can be a great addition to a reptile house with vegetations.
NATURE WITH HISTORY
Torbiere del Sebino is a natural wonder in northern Italy, surrounded by majestic mountains and rich in biodiversity. It is also home to some ancient buildings that reflect the history and culture of the region, such as peat houses, stilt houses and chapel walkways. These buildings were adapted to the environment and the needs of the ancient people, creating a harmonious relationship with nature. We propose to reference these prototypes of the ancient buildings to design a pavilion that connects visitors with the wildlife of the old days.
The pavilions will connect visitors with the nature and the history of Torbiere del Sebino, offering different perspectives and experiences. They will be made of sustainable and local materials, respecting the environment and the identity of Torbiere del Sebino.
BIRD HOUSE@PEAT HOUSE
A green roof is a roof with vegetation and soil that creates a natural ecosystem. A peat house is a traditional dwelling made of peat blocks with a green roof. The green roof insulates the peat house, reduces stormwater runoff, and enhances biodiversity. It attracts birds and plants that find shelter and food in the vegetation. A green roof on a peat house is a sustainable, aesthetic, and living habitat that supports wildlife and nature.
PEAT HOUSE
The peat house is a unique structure that uses blocks of peat, a natural material extracted from the soil, as its main supporting walls. It serves as a staircore to the Central Path, bridging the gap between the two different ground levels at the eastern end. The thick peat walls and roofs create a cozy and comfortable interior space. The peat house pavilion will immerse visitors in the wetland ecosystem of the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve, where they can observe the flora and fauna of the marshes.
CHAPEL WALKWAY
The chapel walkway is a house-shaped structure that blends in with the wetland environment. It is made of natural wood that contrasts with the green roof and the water below. It offers a place for birdwatching and resting along the Central Path, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The wooden wall and the green roof create a relaxing atmosphere, while the seats inside provide comfort for the pedestrians. The stilt house pavilion will elevate visitors above the water level of the lake, where they can enjoy the panoramic views and the breeze.
STILT HOUSE
The stilt house is a wooden structure that rises above the wetland on slender poles. Inspired by the ancient tradition of building houses on stilts to avoid floods, pests and predators, the stilt house offers a versatile space for various activities. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, dwelling and even meditation in the semi-opened interior, while admiring the views of the lake. The stilt house is connected to the shore by a bridge, inviting visitors to a spiritual and contemplative space,
