Frank & Callie Lehner St. Rosa | Date of Wedding: Feb. 8, 2020
The ceremony: Located at the St. Rose of Lima Parish in St. Rosa; Officiant was Deacon Ernie Kociemba; Musicians were Sara Wiechmann and Jeffrey Hamann. We had four bridesmaids, four groomsmen, two ushers and two personal attendants. The dinner and reception: Located at the Pelican Lake Ballroom in St. Anna; We served chicken, ham and mashed potatoes, and cheesecake for dessert. Our cake cutters were four of Callie’s cousins, as she had to cut cake at all of their weddings! DJ K-Welle was our entertainment for the evening. We had a winter woods theme for decorations, with wood box centerpieces made by Callie’s dad with fresh spruce greenery and pinecones. Personal touches: We had a memorial ladder at the reception with our departed loved ones, including Frank’s parents, Callie’s grandparents and cousin. Frank had a keychain with his parents’ pictures in his pocket to walk down the aisle. Callie’s something old was a bracelet that was Frank’s mom’s. We wrote letters to each other the night before and read them the morning of the wedding.
Who helped make the day go smoothly? The people in our wedding party took charge when needed and only gave us necessary details. It helped to have someone in charge prior to the wedding, at the ceremony, and at the reception that could be asked questions so we could continue to be present with each other and our guests. What did your guests love most about your wedding? How much fun they had; we had amazing food, plenty of drinks and a fantastic DJ! Favorite moments: Callie: The first look – I was excited to see Frank’s reaction. Taking photos with just Frank and I were really special moments and we had so much fun with Amy. Frank: The reception and being able to celebrate with friends and family. What is your advice to engaged couples? Sometime throughout the day, remind each other to look around the room and appreciate who is there and that they are with you to celebrate your love for each other. It is such an anticipated day, and before you know it, it’s over. Don’t forget to take it all in and enjoy small moments together.

Scott & Hope Pueringer Holdingford | Date of Wedding: Aug. 30, 2019
The ceremony: We had a traditional Catholic Mass, and felt extremely loved being surrounded by our family and friends that love us most! My grandmother was able to make it and passed away a couple weeks later; that was one of the most special parts of the day. The dinner and reception: The food was delicious, and we had the traditional chicken dinner. The dinner and reception were both at Pelican Lake Ballroom in St Anna. We had lots of fun! I (Hope) spent most of my evening out on the dance floor while Scott spent a large portion of the night talking to our guests. Personal touches: We went down to main street in our hometown to take photos. We spend a decent amount of time down there supporting our small-town businesses. Who helped make the day go smoothly? When my grandmother came, one of my personal attendants made sure she was well cared for and stayed by her the
entire ceremony. Another one of my personal attendants helped my grandmother get in and out of the vehicle. My third personal attendant helped my photographer (Boeckermann Photography) when her assistant ended up sick! What did your guests love most about your wedding? I would say the open bar and the food – what most people seem to enjoy the most! (Haha) What were your favorite moments of your wedding day? That my grandma was able to attend. I was truly shocked when my aunt and uncle pulled up with her. What is your advice to engaged couples? Do what YOU want to do. Do not let anyone discourage you on things you want and don’t let anyone try to make you do something with your wedding if you don’t want it done. Enjoy every bit of the planning process and do not forget to take time for just the two of you!

Caleb & Amy Schneider Sauk Centre | Date of Wedding: Aug. 24, 2019
The ceremony: Our ceremony was held at St. Paul’s Church in Sauk Centre at 1 pm. The church was filled with family and friends there to help us celebrate our special day. We had four bridesmaids (all my sisters) and four groomsmen. Our theme was royal blue and lime green; blue is my favorite color and lime green is Caleb’s favorite color. At first, I thought, “there is no way we are having lime green,” but it all worked out and looked awesome! The dinner and reception: Our dinner and reception were held at the Padua Pub following the ceremony. The food was delicious and DJ Pete was there to make the party come alive. We both love to dance! Over the summer, my mom and I planted a TON of succulent plants that grew huge and were used as centerpieces for the wedding. I love plants, so this was very special to me. By the end of the reception, I was telling people to take some home because we had so many. I still have people telling me that they have their plant in their home or apartment, still alive and growing. Personal touches: Amy: Something special for me was the pins I wore in my hair. They were a gift from my goddaughter and one day when she finds her special someone, I will give them to her to wear on her wedding day. Caleb: I know how much Amy loves cheesecake, so I snuck her in a cheesecake for the reception and made clay pig wedding toppers for it as well. She loved it!
Who helped make the day go smoothly? Both of our families spent a significant amount of time helping to set up and prepare. So many helped pitch in to make direction signs, pick up the cake, get people assembled and where they should be. The day really went super smooth. What did your guests love most about your wedding? A funny and memorable moment was when we forgot our lines at the ceremony! Everyone laughed so hard. Something else our guests enjoyed was our thank you cards; Caleb and I made the design together out of PVC pipe (he’s a plumber so it made sense). What were your favorite moments of your wedding day? Amy: My favorite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing my handsome husband to be! Caleb: The I do’s and everything were just wonderful. Really a perfect day. We both had a blast with the photo session and our first dance. Caleb’s dance with his mom was pretty awesome as well. They started off slow and broke out into a polka! What is your advice to engaged couples? Amy: My advice would be to really listen when people say don’t sweat the small stuff! It is so easy to get caught up in having the decorations just right or adding in one more thing. And don’t be afraid to ask for help! Just enjoy the day and all the loved ones that come out to help celebrate and enjoy getting to marry your best friend!

Spending time together xoxox Through
the years
The Chisholms Josh (37) & Melissa (36) Chisholm BELGRADE Early in our relationship, having quality time together was easy. We did many things like go out on the boat every weekend, go camping, see lots of movies and have intimate, conversation-filled dinners. We went on various vacations, one being a six day cruise where we got to snorkel and kayak down a tidal river. What made all those moments memorable was, now looking back, how lucky we were to have all that quality time to bond and grow in our relationship. Now, five kids later, finding quality, alone time does not come around very often (especially in a pandemic). Now, we use the time after the kids have gone to bed to sit and talk (uninterrupted), we watch a movie or get wrapped up in a new series. We will have drinks in the hot tub, and we have managed to take a couple of trips without kids to focus on us. But, after all that, we both agree that our most memorable times together have been the times we have spent in the hospital after having our kids. Those moments where our life as a couple changed forever, where we became a family, experienced many firsts and leaned on each other like never before.
The Hoffarths Ryan (42) & Sonya (41) ALBANY We are grateful for our travel adventures just the two of us and travels with our daughters, from London, Paris and Barcelona, to Hawaii, Colorado and many other states. Our favorite, though, is our very own North Shore. In the past years, we’ve attempted to hike or snowshoe every state park in Minnesota and treasure our weekends camping with our daughters. It’s the everyday, ordinary things that really matter, though. Walks with our dogs, cheering on our daughters, drinks on our patio, late nights around the bonfire and evenings with our daughters before they graduate and move out. Spending time together page 15

Spending time together from page 14
The Schaefers Mark (63) & Mary Lou (62) SAUK CENTRE Probably one of our biggest highlights was our trip to Hawaii for our 40th wedding anniversary, which Mark surprised me with! We’ve done a lot together over the past 40-plus years, from going to amateur baseball games every Sunday afternoon to working seven days a week together when we owned Schaefer’s Market. Back in our younger days, we played co-ed softball and couples volleyball together, and recently, we started playing pickleball. We also enjoy traveling, golfing together, being grandparents to our four grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
The Meyers Don (95) and Gerry (93) MELROSE We still love to have fun, but years ago we went to a lot of dances. Don played saxophone in an orchestra and was gone a lot on evenings and weekends. Sometimes, we would hire a babysitter so Gerry could go along with some of the other wives. There were many shower and wedding dances in those days. Every little town around here had a dance hall; we loved to dance and we still dance once in a while. We golfed a lot, both around here and in Arizona and California when we went there for the winter. We traveled a lot and went just about everywhere. Our last trip was to Dubai, and it was the greatest trip we ever took. It was an 18-hour flight. The beauty of everything was unbelievable. If we could give any advice, it would be to take advantage of your youth and health and do everything when you are real young. If you enjoy traveling, do it when you are able to, and really enjoy it. We did our share, and now we are done. It’s nice to reminisce about those things. We both were raised on the river here [in Melrose], and lived five doors apart when we were kids. It was destiny! We love Melrose and this place, and we are both pretty healthy and we enjoy every day together. We have had a great life together, we feel good and hopefully, we can just keep on having fun with people. Now, we are sitting here watching TV. We don’t mind because we did so much traveling; we’ve done it all and now we’re happy to be sedentary. We have a nice family and six kids all over the states. We thank the Lord every day.
