Local store owner has a passion for pets When you step into Eddie’s Pet Supply, you’ll likely be greeted by Eddie himself, in his trademark red bandana. He does his best to personally greet all his customers, as customer service (and sniffing new pantlegs) is very important to him. He and his mom, Haylee Gibson, are incredibly knowledgeable about the products they sell. Eddie’s Pet Supply, located at 619 3rd Ave E in Alexandria, MN, sells specialty pet products specifically chosen by Gibson based on quality ingredients, manufacturer commitment to pet health and overall benefits to the animals they’re designed for. “Eddie and I are passionate about delivering nutritional products for pets without all the fillers and by-products,” Gibson says, adding the store sells food, toys, treats, leashes, collars and dishes, among many other products. The store also serves as the permanent home for resident cats Kara,Lewis, and Tucker a ball python, four bearded dragons, a veiled chameleon and two leopard geckos. At home, Gibson has five cats (Baloo, Bailey, Een, Hope and Milo), three dogs (Eddie, Charlie and Lexi) a corn snake and one bearded dragon. She also fosters rescue pets at the store and in her home. A visit to Eddie’s Pet Supply might mean a chance to play with foster pets such as the kitten who recently called the store home while waiting to be adopted. Gibson is also in the process of establishing her own pet rescue for senior animals, expected to be operating and rescuing by Spring 2020. “Everyone deserves a loving home and we’ll be dedicated to pets who don’t have much time left,” Gibson says. “Our goal is to ensure they’re loved as much as possible in their last months or years.” She inherited her love of animals from her father, a wildlife enthusiast and animal lover who kept all kinds of pets including cats, dogs, ferrets, snakes, lizards, turtles, a badger, otters and birds. “I think it started with my dad, but my love for animals has evolved into something uniquely mine,” she says. “There’s nothing I’m more passionate about than doing my part to enhance the health and wellbeing of all animals.
