Senior Citizens Day August 21

Senior Citizens Are More Likely to Vote Senior citizens make up the majority of registered voters. That means tthat hat tthey hey are also good citizens with a strong sense of civic pride and commitment nt ttoo ttheir heir country. This makes sense. The older the voter, the more politics and social issues tthey hey hhave ave witnessed, along with what does and does not work for them. They may aalso may lso m ay be more aware of their rights and how those rights were earned. An elderly womerly w oman I once knew loved to tell her favorite story: “On the day I was born, my mother went into labor while waiting at the polls, olls, aass soon as women were granted the right to vote. She stayed right where shee w was as until she could take her turn. Then I was born about an hour later. In honor or ooff my mother, who fought hard for her right to have an opinion, I never miss ss aann election. It’s my birthright.”

Senior Citizens - Fun Fact There are 72 men for every 100 women in the age group ‘above 65 ye years’ earss’ ars.’ and there are 45 men per 100 women in the age group ‘above 85 years.’

Senior Citizens Enjoy Hobbies that are Creative or Useful The majority of senior citizens, whether working or retired, enjoy hobbies es and and sosoarrity work work cial activities. Crafting, woodworking, dancing, exercise, pets, travel, charity and church are some of the preferred activities.

Thank you to these businesses that support our seniors and everything they do!

They are our club leader, they volunteer, they are taught me are where to inject certain types of needles, how to pull on different committees to help make our 4-H program better, and they kids out of a goat and the differences in types of medicines. help other kids while still helping their own. Jodi, Tony and their family are some of the many friendships I have gained through 4-H and will always keep. They have become my 4-H family.
