No one enjoys being injured, but Centre Rehab aims to make the healing experience as personalized as possible.
Centre Rehab excels in providing specialized physical therapy catered to the patient’s needs. The practice was started by owner Lisa Lahr, who opened her own practice after working at CentraCare-Long Prairie. Centre Rehab began as just Lahr, who then hired physical therapist Brianna Cooper about a year ago. Now, full-time physical therapists Lahr and Cooper, along with part-time occupational therapist Janet Byland, provide the community with expert PT treatments.
“Both Lisa and I really do all aspects of PT,” Cooper said. “We’re working in a rural community, so we cover everything.”
Although Lahr and Cooper are capable of handling whatever PT needs arise, most physical therapists have specialties. Cooper recommends that if a patient has not had success with PT in the past, they can always try a different therapist or location.
“Lisa specializes in pelvic health, lymphedema management and wound care, which you don’t necessarily get at every location — not all PTs do that,” Cooper said. “I also specialize in pediatrics, which is another thing not all clinics offer.”
Centre Rehab accepts insurance plans and believes patients have the right to choose where to go for therapy. After getting an order from a physician, a patient can request what physical therapy location they would like to go to; some insurance plans do not require an order from a physician.
As a private practice, Centre
Rehab tries to get patients seen as quickly as possible when PT is needed. It is also common for Centre Rehab to go above and beyond for its patients, especially local athletes.
“Both of us really enjoy working with athletes,” Cooper said. … “We were both involved in different athletics in high school, so it is fun. Lisa has worked with multiple athletes where she has just attended practices and games, so she can see the athlete in action and then use that to help direct treatment.”
While Centre Rehab is ready to help patients with their injuries, the practice also seeks to educate the community on injury prevention through community programs, and even through informational posts on Facebook.
“We also put on an injury prevention course this summer through Summer Recreation for female athletes in high school,” Cooper said.
