In tennis, I hit 1,000 points this year and made it to the section tournament.” With busy schedules, Roesch and Janorschke found ways to be motivated to reach the top. “I had internal motivation and wanted to be the best version of myself in all that I do,” Roesch said. Roesch also found key ways to succeed. “Turning in all of your school work and assignments on time is important,” Roesch said. “Spend time out of school studying and reviewing, and do not be afraid to ask teachers questions. Also, go out of your comfort zone

and find your interests and passions.” Janorschke, on the other hand, found his motivation through the competitive nature of class rankings. “The moment I saw rankings and how everyone was ranked together, it pushed me to want to be on top,” Janorschke said. Roesch plans on attending SCSU in fall to play basketball for the Huskies and major in biomedical science. She hopes to pursue a career in the medical field. Janorschke is committed to the University of Minnesota to earn a degree in physics, math, engineering or somewhere in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics field.

SRRHS announces its

class of 2023 top 10 SAUK RAPIDS – The Sauk Rapids-Rice High School has announced its top GPA achievers for the class of 2023. Grace Roesch leads the class as valedictorian, and Alex Janorshcke comes in second as salutatorian. The following top 10 list is chronicled in alphabetical order. Caelei Banks is the daughter of Cam and Jennifer, of Rice. She was a member of the Minnesota Honor Society and the prom committee. She danced competitively at Just For Kix where she also worked as a dance instructor. When Banks is not at school or dancing, she enjoys watching movies and spending time with her family and friends. Banks plans to attend the College of St. Benedict to pursue a career in nursing.

Andrew Bemboom is the son of Joel and Trisha, of Sartell. He spent his high school career as part of the Minnesota Honor Society and student council where he was the treasurer and served on the executive board. He enjoys participating in baseball and hopes to make another state appearance this year. In summer, people can find him umpiring youth baseball. Bemboom plans to attend St. John’s University, pursuing a degree in biology. Owen Berg is the son of Shane and Crystal, of St. Cloud. He was involved in Minnesota Honor Society and basketball. He was a captain of the soccer team and participated in track and field. Outside of school, he likes to snowboard, golf, throw bean bags, play cards and do anything outside. He

also worked at Target and Territory Golf Club. Berg plans to attend the University of Minnesota-Duluth to pursue a degree in biochemistry and plans to be a physician’s assistant. Annika Broman is the daughter of Jonathan and NiCole, of Sauk Rapids. She participated in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. She was treasurer of Minnesota Honor Society and a member of FFA, Link Leaders, Green Team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Storm Buddies and the culinary team, which made it to nationals this year. She was a captain of the basketball and track and field teams. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Tri-County Humane Society and spends time with friends and family. Broman plans to become a large animal veterinarian. She is un-

decided on which college she plans to start her journey. Benaiah Hinz is the son of David and Jennifer, of St. Cloud. He was part of the robotics team, swimming and diving team, and Link Leaders. He was inducted into the National Society of High School Scholars and selected to be a Triple A Award recipient. Outside of school, he enjoys flying planes, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He is looking forward to the next chapter and plans to work hard, make new connections and keep the faith. Hinz plans to attend South Dakota State University, majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in aerospace engineering, aviation and math.

Top 10 from page 14 Alex Janorschke, salutatorian, is the son of John and Katie, of Sauk Rapids. He was largely involved in the music program. He was section leader of the marching band and participated in concert band, jazz band and pep band. He was in the Minnesota Honor Society and was captain of math league. Most of his spare time was spent focusing on his academics and school activities. Janorschke plans to pursue a degree in physics at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where he will also be part of the University’s Pride of Minnesota Marching Band. Kaitlyn Kimman is the daughter of Duane and Michelle, of Rice. She was a volleyball and track and field participant. She also enjoyed being involved in the Minnesota Honor Society, Green Team and DECA. Kimman plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison to pursue a degree in kinesiology. Chloe Molitor is the daughter of Mike and Shanon, of Rice. She participated in softball, was a member of the culinary team and was co-captain of math league. Her favorite classes were math and culinary; she loved learning and helping others. Outside of school, she

loves hanging out with friends and working. Molitor plans to attend North Dakota State University to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering and minor in biomedical engineering. She hopes to someday work on prosthetics and artificial organs. Eric Paulsen is the son of Tim and Janel, of Sauk Rapids. He has enjoyed being part of the SabreStorm fishing team. His main focus has been working on lawncare and landscaping. In the spring, summer and fall, he works for CR Lawncare and runs his own business. Paulsen plans to continue to work full time and run his own business while looking into future academic and business opportunities. She participated in several school activities including student council, Minnesota Honor Society, Link Leaders and Storm Leaders. She also was on the tennis and basketball teams.
