Celebrating freedom with a bang

& NATASHA BARBER STAFF WRITERS

Some people set aside July 4 to celebrate the nation’s independence and their freedoms on the federal holiday.

St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids area parks lled in the afternoon and evening hours as people prepared to watch the annual St. Cloud Area July 4th Fireworks display, held from the Mississippi River. Hours earlier and north near Rice, people took to the waters and shores of Little Rock Lake to participate in the lake’s annual Fourth of July boat parade.

Guy Powers, of St. Cloud, sits in the grass and watches as the St. Cloud Municipal Band performs “God Bless the USA” July 4 at Wilson Park in St. Cloud. The band performed patriotic songs throughout the evening and firework display.
