There will be 20 individuals inducted into the Minnesota Softball Hall Fame Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes. Three of them — Bob Zwick of Sauk Rapids, Gary McCarney of Dayton and Gary Tripp of St. Cloud — are fairly familiar with the elds at Bob Cross Park in Sauk Rapids. It is more than the elds that they have in common, however. All three have played with successful teams and earned reputations of being associated with state championship caliber teams and/or national quali ers. Most importantly, the men all have a passion for softball. The three have played, promoted, organized and taught the game they enjoy being around. “The camaraderie and competition,” said McCarney of his reasons for staying with it for 56 years.
