What do you enjoy most about being on the swim and dive team?
Swimming is the most demanding sport I have been a part of. This however shows that working hard will give results. I love the guys on the team, and a big part of swimming and a lot of the fun comes from what we talk about and the team bonding within this group.
What has been the highlight of your swim and divecareer? Swimming one-minute flat in my 100-yard backstroke. It was a long time coming, and I have not been that grateful for working hard in my life.
What other activities are you involved in at school or in the community? I am always busy outside of swimming during winter. I am on the robotics team, which is shooting for a championship title this season. Along
with being on the team, I also am a mentor for a younger group of teams who are also striving for their own success. I am also a choir member and do post-secondary education option through St. Cloud State University.
What life lesson has being involved in activities taught you? After switching to swimming, I learned fast that hard work proves results. Hard work and dedication and putting 100% into every practice and every meet will make you better. I also have learned from being a captain that people always need someone with whom they can talk. I have been striving to be that person to pick someone up after they maybe fall short or are upset.
What SRR teacher has made an impact on your life? Adam Johnson. When he was still the engineering
teacher, he welcomed me into the Storm family with open arms and tons of energy. He taught me how to be creative and work through difficult situations. He had taught me to never give up and keep working. What do you do to show your Storm pride? I try to be respectful to everyone whether teammates, coaches or opponents. I try to correct those who are doing wrong and show other communities why Sauk Rapids is special. I want everyone to look at us and say something positive about everyone at the school.
What board or yard game is your favorite to play with friends and family? Cards Against Humanity. There is no game that brings with it so much laughter. Every time it is pulled out, I know we are going to have a good time. As for yard games, the classic bean bags are my favorite, and my family does tournaments every year over Labor Day weekend.
What is your dream job? My dream job is to be an aeronautical engineer and build and design the rockets that will eventually go to places like Mars or different places in the galaxy. It will be cool to see what we will be able to accomplish in the near future.
If you could travel anywhere for free, where would you book tickets to? I would love to bring my family and girlfriend to Puerto Rico again. When we went there my freshman year, it quickly became my favorite place to go to. Waking up to the sound of the ocean was like no other and going surfing was amazing. The people there are super nice and the food is always fresh. If I could go anywhere again, it would be there.
