Here are some tips to protect yourself from cyber threats:
— Always make sure an email is from a trusted source and that you were expecting it with specific content. Random emails asking for information or for you to perform an action are likely to be malicious and sent to gather information that could lead to access to your information.
— Never respond to a screen that may pop up on your computer stating you have done something wrong or been exposed in any way. These “warning” messages are only lures to force you make a phone call to scammers, who will try to further convince you that something is wrong with the intent for you to allow access to your computer where they can gain personal information.
— Never believe a random phone call stating your computer is causing issues on the internet or has been blocked by some sort of company.
— Never click on a link within an email that states you may have ordered a product that you did not purchase and you need to “click here” to receive a refund. These are scams that may capture information on your computer just by a single click of your mouse.
— Be careful when performing any action on your devices. Make sure you are well aware of what is happening and that you are not
