It has been one year since you went home to be with our Lord. It broke my heart to lose you. But you didn’t go alone, for part of me went with you the day God called you home. I often sit and think of you and think of how you died, to think I couldn’t say good-bye before you closed your eyes. I suffer so much sorrow, and its neverending grief, which I must bear, until I breathe my last farewell and inally meet you there.

Rio Grande City Public Library Received Roma ISD Congratulates Special Achievement of Library Excellence Award Olympians on Basketball Awards
Kate Horan, president of the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA) visited the City Rio Grande City Commission meeting on March 13th to present Rio Grande City Public Library staff with the TMLDA Library Excellence Award. TMLDA is an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League. Each year TMLDA confers awards for outstanding contributions to public libraries. To successfully receive the Achievement of Library Excellence Award, the applicant must exhibit excellence in providing services to underserved and special populations, in enhancing services, in marketing their programs and services in innovative ways, in promoting
cultural, topical, and educational programming, in providing literacy support, in providing summer reading clubs, in pursuing collaborative efforts, in supporting workforce development, in providing for digital inclusion, and in comprehensively training staff.
According to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, 548 public libraries exist in Texas. Of those libraries, only 51 received this award in 2018. This means Rio Grande City Public Library is in the top 10% of public libraries in the entire State of Texas.
A group of Roma ISD Gladiator Special Olympians competed in a Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Pioneer High School. RGCCISD SUPPORTS SCHOOL LIBRARIES! National Library Week (April 7- 13, 2019) is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support. From free access to books and online resources for families to library business centers that help support entrepreneurship and retraining, libraries offer opportunity to all. The theme for 2019 National Library Week is “Libraries = Strong Communities,” and Gates Foundation Co-founder Melinda Gates will serve as 2019 National Library Week Honorary Chair.
Libraries mean so many things to so many people: they provide free access to media, host fascinating programs and events, and strengthen their communities through education and lifelong learning.

Roma ISD Highlighted In State Report On Excellence In The RGV
Roma ISD is once again in the state spotlight. The district was included in a report from the Texas Comprehensive Center at American Institutes for Research entitled, “District Excellence in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas: A Case Study of Four High Performing Districts”. “It was a real honor for our district to be highlighted in this report, allowing us to showcase the hard work our faculty and staff put into making Roma ISD one of the top performing districts not just in the Valley, but the entire state of Texas,” said Roma ISD Superintendent Carlos Guzman. “Our success is a true family effort as a result of teamwork and collaboration across all departments and schools. We thank all members of The Gladiator Nation for helping us emerge as a truly elite school district.” Roma ISD’s success is highlighted alongside Edinburg CISD, Los Fresnos CISD, and Sharyland ISD. The study is designed to be a springboard for strategic partnerships at the state and regional
level that will replicate successful practices within specific regions. Struggling districts will be given the tools they need—tools that have been used, refined, and proven successful in neighboring
districts with the same student demographics. To view the report online please visit https://texas-cc. org/sites/default/files/2018-12/ DistrictExcellence-RGV-508.pdf.

Alto Bonito Elementary Celebrates World Autism Awareness Day NOVENA “Miraculous Prayer” Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for favors. This time I ask you this very special one (mention favor). Take it, Dear Jesus, and place it within your own heart, where your Father sees it. Then, in your merciful eyes it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for three days, promise publication and favor will be granted. Never known to fail.

Adjunct Faculty Job Fair Saturday, April 27, 2019 9:00 am — 1:00 pm
World Autism Awareness Day is every year on April 2nd. People are encouraged to take measures to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout the world. Alto Bonito Elementary students and staff wore blue to show their support for the students on their campus; Miguel Balderas, Aidan Gonzalez, Antonio Guzman, Leonardo Haro, Cristian Olivarez, Diego Pena, and Victoria Serna. These students proudly smiled while taking pictures with staff members and their peers, on their day! ABE encourages others to “light it up blue” throughout the month of April!

Thank A Lineman
America’s Electric Cooperatives designated the second Monday of April each year as National Lineman Appreciation Day. On April 8, Medina EC honored the hardworking people who often work in challenging conditions to keep the lights on. “Too often, people don’t think about what the linemen do because electricity is such a give-in these days. People may think about it when the power goes out, but most don’t realize the danger of the job and work that goes on behind scenes to get lights back on at midnight when it is storming. When you are part of this industry, it is very easy to understand that linemen deserve a special day of recognition,” said Medina EC CEO Mark Rollans. To mark the occasion, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association unanimously adopted this resolution: “Whereas linemen leave their families and put their lives on the line every day to keep the power on; whereas linemen work 365 days a year under dangerous conditions to build, maintain and repair the electric infrastructure; whereas linemen are the first responders of the electric cooperative family, getting power back on and making things safe for all after storms and accidents, and; whereas there would be no electric cooperatives without the brave men and women who comprise our corps of linemen; “Therefore be it resolved that the NRECA recognizes the second Monday of April of each year as National Lineman Appreciation Day … to recognize the contributions of these valuable men and women to America’s electric cooperatives.” If you would like to leave a message for the linemen of Medina EC, you can do so by visiting their Facebook page at www.facebook. com/MedinaEC or sending an email to MyCoop@MedinaEC. org.
Amen.
