Roma High Students Compete in Congressional Art Competition RGC Summer Track Athletes Compete at TAAF State Games of Texas in Corpus Christi

On June 25, 2022 Macario Villarreal from Rio Grande City attended the Annual NADONNA’S (National Association of Directors of Nurse and Administation) 36 Annual conference held in New Orleans. This conference handed out awards for different regions of the nation. These awards include an Overall national award, a Northwest, Central, Northeast, Southeast and Southwest Regions. Macario Villarreal took the Southwest Region award. Macario Villarreal has been serving as the Retama Manor in Rio Grande City as the Director of Nurses since 2004. He began his career as a nurse when he obtained his LVN license in 1991 and then obtained his RN license in At1999.the awards ceremony Mr. Villarreal thanked those that voted for him and but said that he couldn’t have won his award without having a good team to help him achieve the high standards of care that he his organization strives for.

Notable Performances at State were: Serina Ramirez 2nd in Shot Put/5th in Discus, Adam Ortiz 6th in Shot Put, Emma Herrera 14th in Shot Put, Alessandro Diaz 17th in long jump, Zaniah Cabrera 17th in Shot Put, Dante Barrera 18th in discus, Alani Solis 27th in the 800, Jose Rocha 30th in the 400. In late May the Roma FFA Chapter conducted another community service project. Roma FFA adopted Athens Street during their 1st Annual FFA Banquet. FFA members got together and volunteered their Saturday morning to assist in the cleaning of Athens Street. This was their inaugural clean up and it was a great success.
