is School Liaison. She also serves on the Daytime Entertainment, Parade, and Media Publicity Committees. Helping with the Fair is a tradition in the Anderson family. Kenny Anderson served as president of the SCFA, and the judging arena is named in his memory. Vangie is still active with the Fair, serving as a Director and chairing the Awards Committee. She also serves on the Parade Committee. Doug and Jeannie’s children, Ethan Douglas and Natalie Michele, graduates of RGCHS, both showed at the Fair with Rattler 4-H and Rio FFA, and now a granddaughter, Kennedy Grace, will someday be involved. The family is active in the community and in St. John United Methodist Church, where they both serve on Administrative Council, and Douglas also serves as a Lay Leader. She is a member of GFWC Florence J. Scott Woman’s Club and Beta Eta Tau of Beta Sigma Phi.

Doug and Jeannie state that they have seen the Fair grow tremendously over the past 19 years. “The number of student participants has steadily increased. “We’ve seen the addition of events that allow students who are unable to participate with an animal project participate in the Fair through the Academic Rodeo, School Days, Ag Product ID, and Food Challenge.” The honorees stated that they are so honored and humble to have been selected as Parade Marshals this year. Anyone wishing to enter in the parade may call or text Parade Chairman Tissa Peterson at 956/500-1430 before Saturday, or get in line on Water Street that morning and come to the mailboxes with $30 entry fee for a windshield registration card.
