The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to The Rio Grande Valley Chevy Dealers for awarding us an incredibly generous $25,000 donation to support our daily efforts to provide essential food assistance in the Rio Grande Valley. All eight Chevy dealerships across the Rio Grande Valley have banded together to sponsor the Food Bank RGV and provide us with much needed support for the upcoming year. Their contribution will provide 125,000 meals to families and individuals across our region facing food insecurity amidst the ongoing inflation crisis. A special thank you to Rio Motor Co. for being a part of this remarkable act of kindness. In partnership with the South Texas Food Bank, Rio Motor Co. will
donate $3,125 to the South Texas Food Bank to help our neighbors along the western border combat hunger. The Rio Grande City Rotary Club was chartered on January 24, 1968, by the sponsoring Rotary Club of San Diego, Texas. Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million leaders and problemsolvers who unite and take action to create lasting change around the world, in our community, and ourselves. Rotary International’s continuing effort is polio eradication worldwide. The initiative launched in 1988 and has resulted in 2.5 billion children receiving the oral polio vaccine to only six (6) recorded cases of polio in the world as of 2023. Rio Grande City Rotary Club has been active in our community for 56 years, donating time and energy to the different needs of the community. Among some of the most notable accomplishments of
our local club is the incorporation of Rio Grande City, the creation of our South Texas College and instituting long-standing events such as the Starr County Wild Game Dinner. Today, Rio Grande City Rotary Club local activities include scholarships, leadership training, and speech contests for our youth. Rotary also supports the youth in foster care. All of this is possible because of the loyal sponsors, individuals, businesses, and organizations who have supported fundraising events such as the successful Annual Golf Bash, which is celebrating its 15th year and newly instituted Sporting Clay Shoot. Rotary has big plans for the future, and we plan on sticking around.
