Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for favors. This time I ask you this very special one (mention favor). Take it, Dear Jesus, and place it within your own heart, where your Father sees it. Then, in your merciful eyes it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for three days, promise publication and favor will be granted. Never known to fail.

RGCCISD ACE (AFTER SCHOOL CENTERS ON EDUCATION)
CELEBRATE FATHER’S DAY!
This past Father’s Day Holiday, The Veterans Middle School ACE Program held a breakfast with dad event on Thursday, June 13, 2019 by inviting all the dads for refreshments and then dividing them up to create an arts and crafts project with Ms. Cecilia Martinez or a wood burning project with woodshop teacher Mr. Roel Garcia.
The ACE Program at Ringgold Middle School also held a breakfast with dad event and also invited the students to create crafts with Mrs. Orpha Jones or join the culinary arts teacher Tanya Gutierrez for a fun project. The ACE (After school centers on Education) program at RGCCISD Grulla High School was of the upmost success by hosting a “Cuts with Dad “Event.
Students invited their dads, grandparents. Guardians to join them in a free hair cut provided by the exceptional Student barbers under the direction of Mrs. Claudia Vallejo. All the events were innovative and the ACE site coordinators and summer school principals helped share the same message “A good father makes the life of his children a delightful one,
and when they grow up he should have left them with so many beautiful memories to cherish for a lifetime” There are many people out there who are not lucky enough to have a good father and they are the ones who will understand more the importance of having a father . On behalf of the ACE Summer program we salute Our Father ( B. de la Torre ) this summer 2019!

NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE CITY OF ROMA, TEXAS CERTIFICATES OF OBLIGATION, SERIES 2019
Roma ISD is excited to announce that it has been named to the 2018 - 2019 Honor Roll for its high achievement in student success. This is the fourth time that the district has been awarded this distinction. The program, presented by Educational Results Partnership, is part of a national effort to identify higherperforming schools and districts that are improving student outcomes. Roma ISD is one of 6 public school districts in Texas to be recognized. The 2018 - 2019 Honor Roll is developed by Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a nonprofit organization that applies data
science to help improve student outcomes and career readiness. ERP maintains the nation’s largest database on student achievement and utilizes this data to identify higher-performing schools and districts. School districts that receive the Honor Roll distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations. For districts with high schools, the Honor Roll recognition also includes measures of college readiness. In addition to this award, four Roma ISD schools were named Texas Honor Roll Star Schools. Emma Vera Elementary School, F.J. Scott Elementary School, R. & C. Saenz Elementary School and R.T. Barrera Elementary School earned the Honor Roll distinction. F.J. Scott Elementary School and R. T. were additionally awarded the Texas Honor Roll STEM Distinction for demonstrating high levels of achievement in science and math. “We are honored to be recognized by educational and business leaders as an Honor Roll School District,” said Roma ISD Superintendent Carlos Guzman. “The Gladiator Nation Family is continually striving to increase academic achievement and improve educational outcomes for all of our students. We congratulate all our students, teachers and staff for their hard work which makes these accolades possible. This has certainly been a banner year from Roma ISD!” “The Honor Roll is the only school and district recognition program in Texas based solely on objective achievement data,” said Marilyn Reznick, ERP board chair. “Our goal is to guide other educators to data-informed best practices for raising student achievement.” “ERP is all about improving educational equity and promoting career readiness for all students, regardless of their family income, background or ZIP code,” said James Lanich, Ph.D., ERP president and CEO. “These Honor Roll schools and districts are living proof that our students can succeed when schools are committed to removing educational obstacles and accelerating student success. By focusing attention on these bright spots among our schools, we hope to change the conversation from ‘what’s wrong’ to ‘what’s working,’ and encourage others to replicate their success.” In Texas, the Honor Roll program is supported by numerous businesses and organizations, including the Texas Business Leadership Council, American Automobile Association (AAA) Texas, Macy’s, Wells Fargo, Chevron Corporation and Enterprise Holdings Foundation.

OMAR REYES (956) 533-9001 JUNE 19, 2019 SECTION II, PAGE 1
The most wondrous experience of my 87 years Climbing to the upper peak meant seeking edges and crevices in the rock to get a grip and then pulling yourself up a near vertical surface. As I did so, my face was inches from the rock. On this wondrous occasion, as I pulled myself up, there appeared directly before my eyes an inconceivable sight. In a niche, about the size of my fist, was a tiny, delicate, blooming wildflower. There, among the formidable, gigantic, lifeless rocks, an exquisite, 2 inch, fragile and wondrous
bit of life was revealed to me. The wind swishing about the boulders had deposited a tablespoon or two of dust in the niche and mists or runoff from rains apparently moistened it. Somehow, from somewhere, the wind had swept up a tiny seed to be deposited in the niche. Nature then took its usual course and, fortuitously, I arrived on the very day it blossomed with a single, lovely pink flower. I was astonished and entranced. By what unfathomable odds could such an event occur? The experience, though lasting but a minute or two, has remained fixed in my memory for decades. It was a simple, essentially ineffable, experience but it has led me to
lengthy contemplation of diversity here on earth and about the forces that modify it both in humans and in nature. I’ve come to realize that there are extreme differences of many kinds to be found in every setting and that not knowing the many forces at work around us, we ought to anticipate that something, inconceivable to us, may occur at any moment. Unexpected complications of daily life should neither surprise nor deter us. We can be observers and also agents of change. We can champion diversity and delight in its presence.
It’s a wondrous life! May you experience and appreciate its wonders.
You’re in good hands. About 40 years ago, some friends and I used a long school holiday to take a car trip through southern Canada and our northern states. We were entering the Canadian Rockies and arrived at a site which offered a cable car ride up to a peak from which a saddle-back ridge allowed a climb to a higher peak. The awesome peaks loomed huge, rugged and bleak but we went for it. (The photo here is not the actual mountain peak but like it.)

Happy National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month! While June is best known for its scorching temperatures and the beginning of summer, did you know that June is also National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month? Fruits and vegetables are not only a great way to incorporate beautiful colors into our meals but they are also an important part of a healthy and balanced diet and help us perform our day to day activities. Many of us are familiar with the slogan “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” and while this may not be entirely true, eating our fruits and vegetables does have many health benefits that can help keep the doctor away, says Amy Valdez, a health specialist with AgriLife Extension. Overall a healthy diet filled with fruits and vegetables can help to reduce the risk of various chronic diseases such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Fruits and vegetables contain a variety of nutrients such as potassium, folate, dietary fiber, and vitamins A and C. A healthy, well balanced diet including foods such as spinach, bananas and sweet potatoes, which contain potassium, can help to maintain a healthy blood pressure. Folate or folic acid aids in the formation of red blood cells and can help reduce the risk of neural tube defects during fetal development. Dietary fiber found in fruits and vegetables can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and can aid in reducing cholesterol levels. Vitamin A plays a role in eye and skin health while both Vitamin A and C can help boost the immune system and help fight against infections. Fruits and vegetables are also great to eat as a snack or a side as a majority of them are low in calories, sodium, and fat and they add vibrant colors to our meals making them more appealing to eat.
To celebrate National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month, Yolanda Morado FCH Agent recommends trying out these four ideas below: •Build a Garden – Whether you are growing a large garden with raised beds or working with a smaller container garden, planting and growing your own produce can help increase your consumption as this may increase your excitement to try new fruit and vegetables that you personally grew. •Try New Produce Each Week – Each week or each day, try to incorporate a new fruit or vegetable into your meals. Create a challenge amongst your family members to see who has tried the most variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
•Visit a Farmer’s Market – Taking a stroll at the farmer’s market can help you explore all of the fresh produce that is available. Local farmers can also be a great source to learn about the benefits of their produce and they can help you with ideas on how to cook them. •Learn about Path to the Plate – Visit Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Path to the Plate website at https:// pathtotheplate.tamu.edu/ to learn about making the connection between agriculture and health. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offers some simple recipes that include fresh produce to help you incorporate fruits and vegetables, such as Dinner
