Congratulations to the Roma HIgh School Orchestra Program students who participated in the Texas State Solo & Ensemble at The University of Texas at Austin. Victor Mayne and Jose Torres received a 1st division rating of “Superior” for their solo performances. Sheila Mayne received a 2nd division rating and Cindy Salinas received a 3rd division rating. The group of Victor Mayne, Sheila Mayne, Aaron Sepulveda and Jose Torres received a 1st division rating of “Superior” for their string quartet performance. Congratulations to these outstanding student musicians, Rio Grande City CISD is promoting their Summer Lunch Program and their new Café on the Go. The RGCCISD their director Dr. Noe Sanchez, and their proud parents! Mrs. Elaine Hernandez reached out to Starr County Judge and Commissioners to help in promoting this program. They have also proclaimed Summer of 2017 as Healthy Summer Meals Months. The mobile sites are set up at the following sites where children 18 years of age and younger can enjoy a free nutritious meal inside a nice cool bus starting at 11:00 a.m from Monday through Friday from June 5 through July 14, 2017. Closed on July 4th.

Kassidy Ramirez committed to wrestle for Bacone College, in Muskogee Oklahoma and Katelyn Ramirez committed to play softball for Huston Tillotson, in Austin, Texas. Rio Grande City CISD had “A Night with the Stars” at the Joe R. Sanchez Stadium. Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Alfredo Garcia, welcomed everyone to the first time event and congratulated all the schools for their accomplishments. This event acknowledged all the great things that happened this school year and the many accolades that were received district wide. “We’re so proud as a Board, we work hard to make sure that we can be just a little part of what it is that makes you so wonderful” said Daria “Dr. B” Babineaux. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Superintendent Garcia, thank you for always going the extra mile, thank you for working hard, thank you for being fearless, thank you for being humble and kind, thank you for being the stars that makes our job easy.” On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the RGCCISD family we congratulate all the campuses in the district for all their accomplishments this school year. Gerardo Gonzalez, a four-year starting linebacker with the Roma High School Mighty Gladiator Football Team, signed to play Division 1 Football with The University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Gonzalez is a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team, 1st Team Football. He was part of two district championship teams for the Mighty Gladiator Football team at Roma High and this year was named the 31-5A Football 2016 AllDistrict Football Defensive Most Valuable Player.
