inflammation contributes to some of the key symptoms of rosacea, which is an inflammatory skin condition that causes reddened skin. Precisely why inflammation triggers rosacea symptoms in
some but not others is unknown, but the NIAMSD suggests it may in part be due to environmental stressors, such as ultraviolet light, and heightened skin sensitivity in people with rosacea.

at her home. Becky was born on December 29, 1946 to Mr. Hernan R. Garza and Mrs. Hermenegilda “Hila”
December 29, 1946 † May 3, 2023
Lopez Garza. Her parents were prominent pioneers and successful business owners in Rio Grande City, Texas. She attended local Starr County schools.
Becky grew up working alongside her parents at their theater (Teatro Mexico) that hosted live performances by Pedro Infante, Pedro Armendariz and many famous Mexican actors and singers of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Aside from the Teatro Mexico, the family owned and operated H&H Drive In, which kept them entirely busy.
On April 14, 1968, she married Lino Canales Jr. from Rio Grande City, Texas. They met when he was managing Starr Grocery for Pedro “Pete” and Ramona Diaz.
Becky, alongside with her husband, later opened their own chain of grocery stores called El Chaparral Supermarkets Inc., locally and throughout the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas.
In 1986, Becky and Lino started the Starr
County Town Crier, which Becky managed with the support and assistance of their four children. Throughout their years of service to the community, Becky was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church, a member of Texas Delta Theta Master of Beta Sigma Phi, where she earned the highest degree of that organization, the Torch Bearer degree.
Becky was a skilled businesswoman, an entrepreneur, a loving mother, grandmother and great-
grandmother. Her childhood as well as her last weeks were spent listening to her favorite music by Pedro Infante and Javier Solis. Her legacy will live on in the family that she raised and loved with all her heart.
Becky was preceded in death by her siblings: Hernan Ernesto Garza, Celia Garza Villarreal, Concepcíon (Concha) Garza Gavilan, Hernan Regino Garza, Jr., Hortencia (Tencha) Garza Peña, and Alicia Garza Rosa.
Becky is also survived by her loving husband Lino Canales, Jr. children, Lino Canales III (Belinda), Maricela Garcia, Jorge Eduardo Canales (Rachel) and Javier Hernan Canales (Idani), her grandchildren Adrian Gabriel Garcia Jr. (Nora), Javier Hernan Canales Jr., Yahida Diaz, Fabian Lino Canales, Viviana Anahi Canales, Clarissa Canales and great-grandchildren, Abrielle, Adrian Alexander, Daniel and Natalie.

Health issues that can affect young women
Health is important throughout an individual’s life, but chronic health issues are rarely a cause for concern among young people. Though age is a risk factor for many health conditions, anyone, including young women, can develop conditions that affect their long-term health.
Health issues that were once predominantly associated with aging individuals are now occurring more frequently in young populations, a link researchers with the Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease at The John Hopkins University suggest is a by product of increasingly sedentary lifestyles. Such lifestyles have contributed to an obesity epidemic, and that could be leading to a greater risk of various health problems in young people, including young women.
Though those conditions can be serious, the CCPHD notes they’re largely preventable. Prevention begins with recognition of issues that are increasingly affecting young women.
High blood pressure
Johns Hopkins reports that high blood pressure affects 7 percent of women between the ages of 20 and 34. According to Cedars Sinai, a recent study from researchers at the Smidt Heart Institute found that women’s blood vessels age faster than men’s. Authors concluded that, given that difference, a 30-year-
old woman with hypertension (high blood pressure) is probably more likely to develop cardiovascular problems than a male counterpart of the same age. Young women can speak with their physicians about ways to maintain a healthy blood pressure, which Johns Hopkins notes can reduce risk of stroke by nearly 50 percent.
Colon and rectal cancer
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine recently discovered an increase in colon and rectal cancer among millennials. The reasons behind that increase are not yet known, but the risk is not insignificant. In fact, a 2018 report from the American Cancer Society published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that individuals born in 1990 had twice the risk of colon cancer and quadruple the risk of rectal cancer compared to people born around 1950. Johns Hopkins urges young women to speak with their physicians if they see blood in their stool or if they notice changes in their bowel habits.
Stroke
Johns Hopkins notes that risk factors for stroke, a condition that most often affects people 65 and older, have doubled in millennial women in recent years. Those risk factors include high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. A retrospective review published in the journal Stroke in 2022 found
that women ages 35 and younger have a higher incident rate of experiencing stroke compared to men of similar ages. Johns Hopkins notes that risk of stroke is also higher for women than men if women are pregnant or take birth control pills. Women can speak with their physicians regarding their risk for stroke and what they can do to address factors such as obesity and high blood pressure that can increase that risk.
Health issues long associated with aging individuals are now affecting young women with greater frequency. Recognition of these issues and efforts to prevent them can help young women live long, healthy lives.
Did you know?
Agricultural technology, often referred to as “AgTech,” is playing an increasingly bigger role on modern farms, and that role is evident when examining AgTech startups’ growing access to venture capital.
Data from PitchBook and the National Venture Capital Association’s PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor, a quarterly report on venture capital activity in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, indicates that AgTech startups
received $6.1 billion in VC investments in 2020. That reflects a nearly 60 percent increase in investment over 2019.
Weaknesses in the agricultural and food supply chain revealed during the pandemic undoubtedly drove some of that investment.
Widespread recognition of a need for improvements within the agricultural sector so it can meet the demands of a global population that the United Nations estimates will increase by two
contributed
rise in VC investment in AgTech startups.

Take it, Dear Jesus, and place it within your own heart, where your Father sees it. Then, in your merciful eyes it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for three days, promise publication and favor will be granted.
